Lip Fillers

What the fuck are these young women doing to their lips?

Saw a girl in Lidl today who clearly had naturally thin lips. Had a huge fillet in her top lip. All it looks like is someone with a huge filler, not someone with lovely generous lips, see it all the time and it looks horrific.

What happens when they hit 40?

How much does it cost?

Why are we all injecting shit into our faces?

Hi everyone,
Can we just remind everyone to remain civil and remain from any name-calling or personal attacks. We may have to take the thread down if it continues.
Thanks!

I have Botox, collagen and fillers. It’s subtle and I look good (I’m told I look good). I’m in my early 40s and look early 30s. I’m lucky that I’m good looking anyway and I work hard to maintain a good figure.

However, people on this thread are right. I’m vain. I was told how pretty I was as a child and I’m desperate to hold onto that. There will come a time where I’ll need to just calm it as ageing is inevitable and looks fade. All of these procedures are addictive too.

Iwasneveragoddess · 23/12/2019 11:32

I am struggling to see where the name calling is here - if what I have said is deemed as that I apologise.

I’m old enough to remember when only spoilt rich women had “work” done. But I think we are heading towards a society where people who have not had anything done will be the ones that stand out.

Social media has a lot to answer for. When I was young pop stars and celebrities were mysterious, remote people. I felt no pressure to look like them.

gypsywater · 23/12/2019 11:38

Do you feel the same faux-concern for the hordes of women of all ages who bleach their brown hair blonde, spending endless hours in the salon and lots of money to do this?

Womenwotlunch · 23/12/2019 11:38

It’s ironic
As a child people used to make fun of my full lips , I was often referred to as ‘rubber lips’
Now people are asking where I got my lips done

cavabiensepasser · 23/12/2019 11:48

Shut the front door! Women doing shit for vanity and vanity, as we all know, is a sin. So, if you get fillers, you evil Jezebel, you should be ashamed of yourself. You're probably promiscuous as well, dontcha know? /s

Now, seriously. I fucking love botox and fillers and will continue to get them until the day I die. In fact, I want my (dentist) injector by my side on my death bed.

My reasons for doing so:

  1. Cause I want
  2. Cause it's a cheap thrill
  3. Cause I love the look (in fact I love the heavily filled look but don't have the guts to do so. Yet.)
  4. Cause fuck 'natural'
  5. So that sanctimonious Mumsnetters can have a hissy fit
  6. Again, because fuck nature.

The faux concern is fucking ridiculous, to be honest. Sounds a bit salty too. So, adult women are incapable of weighing up the pros and the cons and making an educated decision themselves? They're all brainwashed by society? They're all doing it for the MENZZZ? (I might have to run this past my lesbian friend with fillers, and yes, she's only ever after female lesbians, ie lesbians.) Hm. Damn. If that's the case, if women really are so stupid (according to the sanctimonious twats on this thread anyway), then we fucking deserve to be oppressed cause we're clearly just so stupid. /s

Now, if the thought of a woman having hyaluronic acid injected into her lips sends you into a bit of a tizzy, there are lots of things you can do. You could, for example, mind your own business and go read a book; Svetlana Alexievich is worthy of recommendation. Enjoy and thank me later.

You could also lock yourself at home, so you won't have to see our filler-infested faces. Cause we're like, out and about, minding our own business, and yet you don't see us acting horrified about your natural faces. We don't give a shit about you and what you look like. Try it sometime.

As for you saying that we're somehow guilty of sending the wrong message to you, or your daughters - well tough. The only person with responsibility for your own self esteem or the self esteem of your daughters is... wait for it... YOU. It's your business, so don't make it mine. I'm not taking responsibility for your daughter, it's up to you to instill your values in your kids.

Aaaand time to book in for my Botox next month. I definitely need a top up.

SerenDippitty · 23/12/2019 11:49

I dye my hair and use moisturiser because I don’t want to look any older than I have to. There is a difference between that and having your natural features altered to fit an accepted beauty standard.

For the record I have a small very slightly lopsided mouth. No intention of altering it though.

cavabiensepasser · 23/12/2019 11:51

Here's your medal made out of a potato. Well done you. clap clap

...and?

beautifulstranger101 · 23/12/2019 11:52

@cavabiensepasser

I love you. That is all. Smile

Womenwotlunch · 23/12/2019 11:54

Totally agree @cavabiensepasser

CaptainCabinets · 23/12/2019 11:54

@cavabiensepasser THIS EXACTLY. Gin

cavabiensepasser · 23/12/2019 11:55

deep formal bow

Thank you, my ladies.

koshkat · 23/12/2019 11:56

MN the only poster who has been offensive is cavabien but let her post stand as it is really helpful to understand the mindset that leads to women doing this to themselves.

And really cavbien - 'fuck nature' and 'fuck natural' just about says it all.
I wish you peace.

gypsywater · 23/12/2019 11:56

@SerenDippitty you are altering your hair to fit with a socially acceptable standard...but of course you already know that Grin

SerenDippitty · 23/12/2019 11:56

Have you noticed in the TV and entertainment industry that while men are permitted to visibly age and women are not? Do you think that’s a good thing?

gypsywater · 23/12/2019 11:57

@koshkat your faux concern is almost cute!

koshkat · 23/12/2019 11:58

And we 'sanctimonious twats' are not saying that you deserve to be oppressed. No one does FGS.

cavabiensepasser · 23/12/2019 11:58

I for one am damn glad that I don't have to look like those men. Grin

Butterflyflower1234 · 23/12/2019 11:59

OP I couldn't agree more. I think unnatural lips don't look pretty at all. It looks like they could burst at any time. I'm sure there are some that are more natural and they look fine but not the huge ones.

As for those that say they have them done and no one notices, what's the point in having them done if they don't look visibly better?

koshkat · 23/12/2019 11:59

It is not faux concern. I am a teacher and sadly see the influences and pressures that young women are under every single day. It breaks my heart tbh.

cavabiensepasser · 23/12/2019 11:59

koshkat, sweetheart... comprehensive reading is a bit of an acquired skill. Re-read what I said about oppression. Slowly.

gypsywater · 23/12/2019 12:00

@koshkat if you can genuinely say that you do nothing to alter your appearance, then I will take you seriously with that one!

mencken · 23/12/2019 12:02

the 'recently punched' look does seem to be in fashion - thank goodness it isn't actually violence, just imitating the Kardashians.

Does look rough as guts, though. Each to their own. I saw a shocker the other day - hair full of deliberately applied grease, two inch eyelashes, those really laughable painted brows, thick beige face paint and the final touch, oompa-loompa'd hands with the worst spray tan ever. Really hard not to stare as she was behind a checkout so I had to interact a bit rather than running away!

of course I said nothing, although the phrase 'Halloween was 2 months ago' came to mind. If people want fancy dress year round, fine - but don't blubber in a few years if it turns out that botulism and a mouth like a rubber tyre actually are harmful.

koshkat · 23/12/2019 12:03

gypsy I have stated above that we are all under pressure to alter our appearances and I have never said that I am not under the same pressure. I worry more about injecting our faces than shaving our legs though for obvious reasons.

cavabien seriously? Hmm
