To not want a Christmas Day baby

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 07:51

I just feel soooo guilty "what if I'm not here Christmas morning for the kids"

Baby's due tomorrow. Iv had 2 sweeps, got kidney stones and on antibiotics (all should induce labour) but Seriously no bloody sign of an arrival. Doing everything I can but I feel perfectly fine in myself I can't sit still and bump is still pretty high

Baby number 3- first was 2 weeks late , 2nd was a week early so yea was no telling what way this will go
I'm just dreading it being over Xmas eve or Xmas as their such a special magical time I don't want to miss with my other 2 baby's. This is such a big gear and i know baby's coming when baby wants to come theirs no waiting lol

I just don't want to get everything set up Xmas eve for Xmas morning then go into labour through the night then they will see what Santa's brought and me and their dad miss it as we won't be here.

I sound so selfish I just don't like missing any time with them?? their always with me and doing things with me. I only have a break when they go nursery 3 days a week an that's only 1-6!! Then I don't want the baby being born on Christmas Day as people keep sayin "it'll save us a fortune buyin one present for 2 occasions if baby's born Xmas day""
I don't agree with that at all and I have said if baby is born Xmas day the birthday will be celebrated either before or after like a proper birthday
Just feel shit iv clearly not planned the dates well here ??

Well it depends @NoSauce when we started trying for a baby ,we didn't expect me to get pregnant immediately ! 😂and yes having a Xmas baby is a bit inconvenient but I wouldn't change it now 13 years on.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 22/12/2019 15:02

I had a Xmas day baby, 18 years ago this Wednesday. He was 8 weeks premature. Its shit, I had to leave him in scbu so I could be at home for my other two sons, Christmas morning.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 22/12/2019 15:04

15 years ago tomorrow dd1 was due. It wasn’t quite the same as she was my first, so I didn’t have other DC to consider, but I was really worried she would be born on Christmas Day and would never get to have a birthday that was all about her.

As it was she didn’t rock up until the 3rd of January, so there was no need to worry. Fingers crossed it’ll be the same for you.

Ivysaurus · 22/12/2019 15:20

Chances are baby won't come on Christmas day anyway, but at least your prepared for anything. Good luck and let us know 😂

NoSauce · 22/12/2019 15:21

Well it depends @NoSauce when we started trying for a baby ,we didn't expect me to get pregnant immediately !

But but but if you’re having unprotected sex of course you might have caught straight away 🤦‍♀️

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 16:05

@NoSauce well with both my OC it took us quite a while to conceive specially my first it took over a year and same with this one iv been trying since Christmas last year so no never really "took a break" or even considered what month baby would be born if I got pregnant in a pacific month. It didn't really matter. I was just happy to be blessed with another beautiful baby.... but like people have said. It'll be what it's going to be. It's going to be a beautiful little snuggley baby regardless of when they decide to arrive !

But I can tell you now if I go in the next week il owe you all a dime lol because I feel fit as a fiddle just done a 2 mile walk and shopping and bump is still high as can be and I can't sit still and full of beans as usual and iv 0 pains or twinges..... lazy baby, must be a boy!!!!!! Xx

My mum was born around xmas not on it and every present she received for her birthday said, "For xmas and your birthday" on it as a child.
She was royally pissed off.

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 16:17

@madcatladyforever I know her pain. I was born in December an could never have a bouncy castle party as a kid and I hated my mum an dad for me missing out on them even though they did stupidly outrageous party's to make up for it- it was never the summer bouncy castle an bbq like my friends..... but I never got the 1 present so I was lucky. Just got Christmas Charols and being naked after Christmas that Pissed me off xx

My lovely daughter will be 21 this Christmas Day. I knew something was up Christmas Eve when I lost my plug.

My son was just 14 months at the time. He was happy to have his grandparents solely to himself as do and I went off to the birth center

My daughter was a little put off when she was growing up as she could not have a party on her bday. We just chose another day to celebrate.

She truly believed for many years that the lights and decorations were meant for her..everywhere

I hope you have safe Labour and a lovely healthy baby💐

Hahaha88 · 22/12/2019 20:59

@SecretWitch awwww so cute she thought that

MabelMoo23 · 22/12/2019 21:05

Another Christmas Eve Mummy here.

We strictly make sure all birthday presents are wrapped in birthday paper. We have Christmas cards up but they’ll be coming down tomorrow night ahead of her birthday on Tuesday. We are doing soft play and lunch out - then Christmas Eve activities start late afternoon

SecretWitch · 22/12/2019 21:09

@Hahaha8, she thought it was really lucky that Jesus was born on her birthday..

lazybutton · 22/12/2019 21:22

@Sweetpeach3

In the similar boat, was due on 17th and no signs of this one making an arrival any time soon. Have a midwife appointment tomorrow, in two minds to refuse a sweep & hope they stay put until after Christmas.

PiggyInTheMiddle19 · 22/12/2019 21:34

I'm due mid Jan and dh has had it in his head hell come Xmas as been so uncomfortable.. But his head not engaged im.uncomfortable because he's high up. And have 4.4 weeks left.
DH is still. Convinced that's how we're spending Xmas haha.

Altho my ds wasn't engaged and still. High at my mw apt on the Fri afternoon. Started contracting that night.. And had him Saturday night. So anything could happen I guess.

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 22:05

@PiggyInTheMiddle19 it can turn so quick I suppose. Specially if it isn't your first. My DD just came from no where. Just about made the hospital. Never forget seeing my sil running up the street to get back from the school run to get my ds lol

@lazybutton oh nooo I know your pain then!! My little boy was 2 weeks over and it drove me crazy but I suppose if they come Christmas Day it is just one huge bonus present ! I just want to meet the little bubba and have snuggles and smell the new baby smell! Oooo so exited. Seen loads of new baby's out shopping today made me get super exited. My DC just kept kissing my belly saying that it was our baby. Just can't wait have them al together ! Xx

lazybutton · 22/12/2019 22:26

My first was also 2 weeks late but without the pressure of Christmas so I didn’t care at the time!

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 22:28

@lazybutton yea I didn't care with my first being late I was just happy knowing it'll soon come loo then when DD was early it was even better as it was so unexpected
This ones just got me hanging lol x

MerryDeath · 22/12/2019 22:37

me too. I'm not due til 6th jan but they are concerned about growth so I'm finding out tomorrow if they want to induce which i DO NOT want after managing first labour with no intervention at all Sad particularly not on xmas bloody eve or day when we are supposed to be away with the family

VanyaHargreeves · 22/12/2019 22:43

1. People are joking when they say you only need to buy one present. Nobody really thinks this.

My sibling born on the 18th and my ex born on the 21st would both tell you that not only did people think this, they actively said it whilst presenting one gift.

MsVestibule · 22/12/2019 22:58

@vanyahargreeves yes, I realised after I'd posted that I'd misread the OP's point! I thought she'd written that other people said that's what she could do, whereas they actually said that's what they would do. So I agree - unless you're putting the birthday and Christmas money together to buy an amazing present, it's really stingy behaviour. And even then, they should still get something small for the recipient to actually open in their birthday.

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 22:59

@MerryDeath i wouldn't worry to much! They said my Dd was to small and sent me for scans every week and tests etc but she came out 8 pound. She was huge!!! No pain relief and was bigger then my first and she was ment to be small 🤷🏼‍♀️
Hope it all goes to plan for you and you can still have your Christmas get away xx

OP posts:
Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 23:02

@MsVestibule tbh it was my DP who said it. I was beyond pissed off and made it clear the baby wouldn't be having s Christmas Day birthday it's guna be at s totally random time of year so baby gets spoilt like the other kids.... I slapped his arm for even suggesting it. He didn't speak after ! But our best friends son (same age as DP, best friend is a lot older) is born Xmas day and on Xmas day no one remembers it's his birthday so he has no one celebrate with and 9/10 he comes to my MIL with us to celebrate and we can never get rid of him lol just feel tight on him x

Sweetpeach3 · 22/12/2019 23:25

I'm just binge watching one born every minute hoping the baby feels me getting exited and decides its being unfair making mummy wait any longer so their going to come say hiiiiii ! Xx

PastelRainbows · 23/12/2019 10:44

I had an ELCS to avoid this 🙈! Granted, I had a high-risk pregnancy so I was offered the option of ELCS, albeit none of those risks were directly related to birth so a VB would have been possible. However I decided if I could have the choice anyway I‘d rather not have a Christmas baby so we had her taken out a few days earlier.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 23/12/2019 10:51

Long walk if you can manage it. Helps with stress too which will stop things progressing.

Plus accept the fact the baby may come on Christmas Day. This is not the end of the world.
