To think it’s a shambles that we have a PM who won’t even admit to how many children he has?

If you go in BJ’s Wikipedia page it states, under personal details - Children - 4?
AIBU fo think someone of his standing should at least fess your to how many children he has? It’s the House Of Commons fgs, not the Jeremy Kyle show. I’m sure he’d have a lot to say about feckless fathers leaving mothers on benefits etc etc, but is he any different? No, it seems not. I read somewhere he has 6 or 7 children, at least two of which he ignores. And on LBC he avoided the paternity question with some meaningless waffle. AIBU to think it’s a disgrace?

I think there bigger issues than that tbh.

formerbabe · 20/12/2019 22:55

Yanbu, and I have no idea why the public aren't more incensed by this.

user764329056 · 20/12/2019 22:56

It’s disgusting, what a great role model he is, bloody idiot

Bananalanacake · 20/12/2019 22:57

yes. I've seen that on Wikipedia too. they have interesting middle names.

Meegeemoogee · 20/12/2019 22:57

What?! I did not know this. How can this be? Why hasn't this been brought up publicly?

Hefzi · 20/12/2019 22:58

You are assuming that he even knows... This may be your error!

frillyfarmer · 20/12/2019 22:59

Significantly less of a shambles than many of his predecessors and significantly less relevant to his job. Illegal war in the Middle East, anyone?

HugeAckmansWife · 20/12/2019 23:00

Wikipedia entries are written by anyone who cares to. They are not a reliable guide to anything. Honestly, I'm not that bothered about any politician's private life or private actions. It's what they do at the office that matters.

BaronessBomburst · 20/12/2019 23:02

Ignoring the fact that BJ is a complete twat, does it really matter how many children he has and who they are? Is his private life not private? And more importantly, why should innocent children be branded by being acknowledged by him?
And who on earth agreed to have sex with him in the first place?! Shock

fireblue · 20/12/2019 23:05

Oh well, I just looked again and it seems his paternity status has changed! It used to state “4+” the other week, now it’s “at least 5.”

DarkMutterings · 20/12/2019 23:05

I was wondering this the other day. Maybe he can't. I figured that if I had a child with Boris ((shudder...) then I'd demand privacy. I'd not want myself and baby splashed all over the papers.

Hypothetically MN lawyers - could you do that? Could you get an injunction that ensured you and the baby couldn't be named or would you have to rely on the father's discretion (which you'd think wouldn't probably be one of Boris' strengths!)

minesagin37 · 20/12/2019 23:07

He's a shambolic, violent, petulant clown. There is not one trait I admire. I hope he has a spectacular downfall. It will be karma.

WeGoHigher · 20/12/2019 23:10

Well, Jennifer Arcuri 'kept his secrets' so maybe she knows.

BikeRunSki · 20/12/2019 23:11

How many children he has is irrelevant to his role in office, but his acknowledgement and treatment of them and their mothers is a good indicator of his moral integrity I’d say.

catsmother · 20/12/2019 23:12

If someone can't, or won't, say how many children they have ..... which is such a basic fact of life, you have to wonder why the bloody hell not?! And why the reluctance, what circumstances are they trying to hide? It just calls into question notions of responsibility, honesty, loyalty (or the lack of). Exactly what sort of lowlife denies the existence of children they've fathered?

Yet this is someone in a position of power, in a professional role, who regularly sees fit to pontificate upon the moral standing of those deemed 'beneath' him. Including single mothers (amongst others), a good proportion of whom will have exes that like to pretend they don't have offspring either. And yes @formerbabe, I also don't understand either how people can dismiss this so casually.

JoyceJames · 20/12/2019 23:13

Really, the whole thing is beyond.

fireblue · 20/12/2019 23:17

This is from the Metro

Gingerkittykat · 20/12/2019 23:18

I think the knowledge about his private life shows a lack of integrity which spills over into his professional life. I can never have any respect for a man who has abandoned a child.

The man is like teflon, it doesn't matter what he has done people still seem to love him.

paulinespeaksmanylanguages · 20/12/2019 23:20

You do know Wikipedia entries can be written by anyone...even those with an agenda.

That's why it's never a good idea to base research on them.

Anyway, you know the old saying...'It's a wise man who knows his own children" :)

frillyfarmer · 20/12/2019 23:28

Fucking hell - quotes from both Wikipedia and The Metro. As credible as media sources come...

KenDodd · 20/12/2019 23:28

Can't stand BJ but I really disagree with politicians parading their children about so on this point, I think he's right. His children are none of our business.
Except, the fact he never talks about them and the rumours of children born from affairs that we never see makes me suspect he may have a superinjunction on them and their mothers.

AnnieAnt · 20/12/2019 23:33

YANBU OP.

Matthew Paris spoke at length about this on Radio 4's Any Questions earlier this year. Not sure if it will come up on a google search, but it is widely known and yet seems to be strangely overlooked.

So not just Wikipedia and the Metro!

Bunnybaubles · 20/12/2019 23:37

It amazes me the outrage at trump, I feel like the British equivalent just got voted in!

thetoddleratemyhomework · 20/12/2019 23:38

I don't really care about this so long as he pays maintenance and supports them. Who really knows whether he does.

Sotiredofthislife · 20/12/2019 23:40

I think there bigger issues than that tbh

The abandonment of children - both in person and financially - has a massive impact on thousands of children and their life outcomes continually. That there is zero political will to ensure the systematic enforcement of the non-payment of child maintenance is a failure of Government after Government. That we shame single mothers, use words like scum and scrounger whilst thousands of men are patted on the back, dismissed as loveable rogues, and are accepted as sons, friends, brothers, colleagues, is indicative of the misogyny that exists at all levels of our society.

There should be no bigger issue to solve in a so-called civilised society.
