Vilanelle · 20/12/2019 15:59

?

PositiveVibez · 20/12/2019 16:00

Eh?

littleduckeggblue · 20/12/2019 16:01

You went home poorly and they recorded the whole day as sick you mean?

OddBoots · 20/12/2019 16:03

Did you spend some of the day at work or was it a short day or something?

Ceci03 · 20/12/2019 16:04

Sorry I posted too soon! So I went home about 3.30 (should be there til 5pm), and was off the next day and manager counted it as 2 sick days. I suppose it doesn't really matter, I'm not sure if it has any 'consequences' I've only been in the job a few weeks, but it seemed a bit 'off' to me. She's sent off to HR that I was out sick for 2 days. Probably there is a maximum of uncertified sick days you can take per year I'm not sure yet. It just seemed a bit 'off' but maybe that's normal - AIBU

Hadalifeonce · 20/12/2019 16:06

Why don't you speak to HR and ask what their protocol is?

Di11y · 20/12/2019 16:06

would have been 1.5 in my place

Ceci03 · 20/12/2019 16:07

I guess next time I won't "suffer on" during the day - I'll just go. I thought I was 'helping' by staying for most of the day, til it just got too bad - had a migraine coming, could feel it, but didn't actually leave until it was getting really bad. what's the point though, I should have gone home in the morning when I felt it coming on?

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 20/12/2019 16:08

You are pissed?

ChloeDecker · 20/12/2019 16:10

Have you changed names OP?

Ceci03 · 20/12/2019 16:11

no def haven't changed my name! pissed off... lol wouldn't mind being pissed ha ha.

LochJessMonster · 20/12/2019 16:12

That would class as 1.5 days in most places.

msmith501 · 20/12/2019 16:13

1.5 days max. Actually a decent manager would have just counted t as one day and let you work to catch up the missing 1.5 hours. A decent manager.....

MaggieFS · 20/12/2019 16:15

Does it affect your pay, or sick pay if you get it? Definitely one to rectify with HR.

GottaLoveAnOtter · 20/12/2019 16:16

Why have your other three threads about this been deleted as they are 9999999 days old? 😳

to be pissed a manager for counting whole day as sick
Bodyposiftw · 20/12/2019 16:17

Why is everyone being funny about OP saying pissed rather than pissed off? We have American users on here surely?
OP I agree that it's a bit much when you were there most of the day.
But check their policies.
And maybe it is a genuine mistake, although unlikely.

Bourbonbiccy · 20/12/2019 16:18

I think if you have only been there a few weeks it may be worth checking out the policies regarding sickness.
In most places I would have thought you just worked the 1.5 hours back and it's classed as one days sickness but if you have only just started they are probably going by the book.

I wouldn't have liked to have let new staff think we were relaxed with sickness.

JumpyLiz · 20/12/2019 16:19

no def haven't changed my name!

Then why is your username different in the opening post?

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 20/12/2019 16:20

Did you ask to take it as lieu time and work extra hours on another day? Ask them to clarify on Monday. But honestly it sounds like they're using Bradford Factor which is based on occasions of absence, not hours of absence.

If you've only been there a few weeks I'd honestly say you've put your job in jeopardy, sorry. But most SME to large employers will automatically fail probation for anyone who has taken over a certain amount of sick days during probation (not including and condition or disability which has been declared.)

Migraine is a fucking bitch and mine got infinitely worse with stress. When I was splitting up with my then H I got at least 3 a week, at one point I collapsed in Sainsburys and knocked over a whole row of Pepsi 2 litre bottles :( My GP put me on amitriptyline and it was an absolute life saver. You must take it every day though.

Aaarrgghhh · 20/12/2019 16:21

GottaLoveAnOtter

I didn’t know AIBU had a time limit on threads. If nowt else I’ve learned something interesting on this thread lol.

The name change is confusing too.

adaline · 20/12/2019 16:24

Where I am, you'd have just been paid for the full day, and then second day would be counted as your first day sick. It's only 90 minutes, after all.

I wouldn't be happy and I would be asking why it had been recorded wrongly. I mean, you came in and worked for well over half the day - it should be recorded accordingly.

Greysparkles · 20/12/2019 16:24

Why do you need to 'quote' everything
Yes I 'think' YANBU

Bodyposiftw · 20/12/2019 16:24

Yeah I can see why they would want to make a point with new staff actually. Not sure they can have a different rule for them though.

Ceci03 · 20/12/2019 16:29

god I hadn't thought about failing probation :( I was late in the other day as well cos I had to bring my son to the doctor. I've only just moved to the UK and there's just been one thing after the other. Like DS is never sick, touch wood, and he was really sick, and I wasn't registered for a doctor, and I tried to bring him to the evening surgery but they said bring him back in the morn as he was bad, and even though the appt was first thing I didn't get into work until about 10.30. I think this manager is particularly strict. She noted I was 5 mins late one day and told me I had to make up the time by taking a shorter lunch break (get half hour for lunch) - this was before the doctor thing. I have come in an hour early a few times though, but I didn't shout about it - I'm not sure she noticed. Maybe I should start telling her when I stay late, or come in early. As I def have done more than I've missed IUKWIM.
