AIBU to think my cat isn't going to come back home :(

My cat was usually a house cat but we have recently got a cat flap so are allowing him to come and go as he pleases. He has been neutered and microchipped.

Over the last 2 weeks he has started bringing home live mice, dead birds, live birds - basically the animals of farthing wood.

I let him out Wednesday morning and closed the cat flap as didn't want him bringing anything home whilst I was at work.

He hasn't been home since :(

The last time he went missing, our neighbour found him in her garden after him being run over. He was insured but only for £4k, vet bill came to £7k. Still paying that off.

I am pregnant and this is causing me huge distress, I am so so worried about him. I have printed off leaflets for the neighbours to ask them to check their garden sheds, houses etc.

He never goes missing for more than a few hours. Never.

He isn't coming back is he?

I have rang the local vets too but nothing. Last night I walked the streets, looking at side of roads, ditches, gardens and hedges - calling him. I didn't eat last night and I feel bereft!

I love a happy ending!
Best Christmas present ever!
I remember how dreadful it was when my wandering boy went missing, and like IRememberSoDoI's cat, he clearly couldn't see what the fuss was when he got back.

Great news. Cats are funny creatures but I’m happy he found his way home to you, Merry Christmas!

Sorry, I don’t mean to bang in about these tracker collars like a loon and I certainly wouldn’t put any other collar on our cats for the reasons given, but even if your cat just wore a tracker one for a week, you would get to know his circuit. We now know that our cats all have their individual “daily tours” (all in different directions) that they do every day, so at least you have a good idea where to look if they ever get lost. They are creatures of habit and all mark their territory daily!

Thank you for all the lovely messages. The cat is doing fine. He has had some fresh prawns and salmon today. Starting to think this was all a trick to get some goodies!

Vet said he is fine and not concerned but took some bloods anyway.

He is banned from leaving the house until he gains his weight back.

In the kennels where I take my dogs they also take in Cats for boarding
They have one Cat that comes in several times a year with different owners from the surrounding
Villages and towns
Despite the kennel lady telling the different owners each time that the Cat is a disloyal bastard to them it continues
Cat gets several weeks luxury holiday of being catnapped
