I went on a date today, and it was lovely.

I've had a really shit few years. Really shit. Had my heart broken, become chronically ill, just had loads of crap going on. Had given up hope of finding anybody lovely who would look past all my medical issues and see me for who I was, and be interested in that person. But today I had a coffee date, and it was brilliant, and I didn't want to leave to pick the kids up. And we're having lunch on Thursday. And even if things don't pan out, I would very happily be friends with him, he's really funny and thoughtful.

Squee.

Sorry, as you were. Just a bit of niceness on a Tuesday.

Love this thread! How's things going with the bloke?

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/01/2020 18:33

Wow, what a great thread.

I felt like this when I met my husband, just totally battered by stress and divorce and with no clue anyone would want me. Date number one made me realise how lovely and thoughtful he was.

And the job! Amazing, I'm so happy for you. I love it when good things come to good people.

Welshmaenad · 06/01/2020 19:21

@ItsNovemberNotChristmas honestly he's just lovely. Thoughtful in a way that really means something. Like, he'll plan a date and before he's pitched it to me he's looked up the accessibility info and got a handle on how easy it will be for me (I'm mobility impaired) and what I can eat (I'm vegan, just to be an extra pain in the arse) to the extent of emailing to ask for allergy info on the nachos at the cinema he wanted to take me to. He understands the importance of regularly feeding and caffeinating me for best results.

Also he's awesome in bed. Fabulous. Wink

You're all lovely. Thank you for sharing my joy!

I reckon I've already got my three as I had surgery in Dec to remove cataracts (caused by the treatment for my condition) and being able to see clearly and drive safely again has been an utter delight.
