Clicky?

toodlethenoodle · 16/12/2019 20:02

It's not linking me to anything.

ActualHornist · 16/12/2019 20:02

YANBU. What a piece of shit that man is.

LoseLooseLucy · 16/12/2019 20:04

Disgusting that he is still entitled to claim with that in his account.

TheGardenFairy · 16/12/2019 20:06

MN won't allow the link. I have tried again. Hope it's appeared now?

But I thought child tax credits were means tested as in you tell them how much you earn etc and they tell you how much you’re entitled to and if your wage goes up your ctc is reduced or stopped.

IceCreamFace · 16/12/2019 20:07

Is that really true or a mistake? I'm pretty sure I'm not eligible for any child benefits (not that I would claim them) because our income is too high.

I'm not actually going to say anything I think (I don't want any arguments or a ban), but you are definitely not being unreasonable.

TriangularRatbag · 16/12/2019 20:07

DLA and child benefit are not means-tested.

x2boys · 16/12/2019 20:09

Child tax credits and child benefit are means tested though ,DLA isn't .

x2boys · 16/12/2019 20:10

Pretty sure this is one of those stories designed to wind every one up......

MidnightCircus · 16/12/2019 20:15

Oh, definitely is x2boys I fell for it haha.
If they're not means tested, then they've just shopped themselves surely? So, it can't be means tested

KilljoysDutch · 16/12/2019 20:16

YANBU. What a piece of shit that man is.

Yeah what a piece of shit trying to cancel his benefits and being told to carry on claiming by the DWP.

ActualHornist · 16/12/2019 20:58

Well...he doesn’t have to though does he? He can say that actually, he’s got enough money to support himself without claiming tax credits and all the rest.

Somerandompersons · 16/12/2019 21:17

But it's not income. They do not earn anything. That's will be how they get the child benefit and tax credits.

But, if it was me, I honestly don't think I could bring myself to claim anything.

puds11 · 16/12/2019 21:23

Surely this is a floor in the system. They declared the money and were told they were still entitled to benefits. They did what they were supposed to.

GloGirl · 16/12/2019 21:23

A piece of shit man? Come the fuck on. He's declared his winnings, it's not a job for life so although he will get income from the interest it's not over £60000 a year to reduce the child benefit.

He wants to start investing in housing and presumably if he does turn his money into a liveable income he will declare the earnings and pay tax on it then.

And in the meantime he's fucking enjoying himself with a few spends like most people would. And I very much guess the £3000 a month benefit claim the papers have just said he gets is total horseshoe.

Hate the bloody system if you must, although I would disagree I think it's working here - but dont trash someone who's doing everything he can within the letter of the law.

TigerOnATrain · 16/12/2019 21:30

Child benefit is means tested though. (Isn't it?) Haven't had it for over a decade so don't know...

And Call-me-Dave Cameron still claimed DLA for his son even though he (and SamCam his missus,) have oooooooodles of money.

But yeah DLA/PIP are not means-tested.

Not the guy's fault really, but yeah the system is a bit shit. It's the same system that allows the winter fuel payment to pensioners, even if they have got a million quid in the bank. Everything should be means tested really.

Babyroobs · 16/12/2019 21:33

For tax credits you need to declare any interest earned over £300 a year so I can't see how they would get tax credits. For disability benefits you can still claim them as they are non means tested. I regularly have disabled pensioners coming to me for help to claim Attendance allowance and they have 150k+ in the bank. Not quite 3 million but still a lot.

Peasplease21 · 16/12/2019 21:53

So you’re angry because this working class man who has had a windfall gets child tax credits and disability allowance?
The same is true for the many landed gentry length amd breadth of the land, if they have children or a disability! Do the papers pick on them? No! Why? Because the gutter press are taking advantage of the contempt with which low earners are held by the prejudiced readers.

PosieParkerIsAHero · 16/12/2019 22:33

Wow. The attitudes on here.

He has declared everything he should and that is what the DWP have told him.

He is legally entitled to continue to claim.

Morally, it is questionable, yes as it would appear he doesn't need it.

But morally, the same system fucks over thousands of families who are entitled to benefits but the system makes it to hard to claim.

So sorry if I have little sympathy for the DWP.
IT'S THEIR SYSTEM.

BanginChoons · 16/12/2019 22:40

He's not done anything wrong. I don't get the outrage.

PlanDeRaccordement · 16/12/2019 22:46

Didnt Cameron get DLA for his disabled son despite also being a millionaire?
