He feels fine in himself didn’t even know he had it till I saw it. No itching, no known allergies no other symptoms can anyone say what this might be or what we should do?

If he doesn't feel ill I would assume allergic reaction. Take antihistamines, make a mark with a pen on the edge of the rash, and check again every 30 mins to see if it slows, stops or recedes.

LizzieSiddal · 14/12/2019 22:10

It’s may be an allergy, I’d get him to take anti histamines.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:11

Given him an anti histamine - he feels fine. Wine is a regular one.

OP posts:
StealthMama · 14/12/2019 22:12

White wine is full of chemicals, so common to bring out a rash. But check when you press on it does it go white then return to red? If it does then likely and allergy, if it doesn't ie stays red then a fever might follow and I'd phone 111 for advice.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:13

Yes it goes white and then back to red. He thinks I’m making a massive fuss

OP posts:
Ohyesiam · 14/12/2019 22:13

Id get that checked out tomorrow.
There are two conditions called erythema, ( meaning redness) one not serious and requires little tx , usually associated with allergic reaction to substances the body produces during infection, or as a drug side effect.
The other form of it is more serious with other flu like symptoms and afaik generally associated with drug reaction.
Does he have other symptoms, is he on any New medication?

Runkle · 14/12/2019 22:13

Hives. My partner gets this when he has beer.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:15

No other symptoms he tells absolutely fine and no medication.

Ohyesiam · 14/12/2019 22:15

Took me so long to type it’s all moved on.

Have you changed your washing powder or soap recently? Or was he wearing a new shirt? This happened to Ex once when he wore a new shirt, it must have been something in the finishing of the cloth that affected him.

22Giraffes · 14/12/2019 22:17

Definitely looks like Urticaria (Hives). DD had this over the summer, spread all around her body and was really itchy and uncomfortable. It didn't respond to antihistamines so we saw a GP who after looking it up told me to double the normal stated dose for her age. Thankfully it went away after nearly a week. I am of course not advising you take more than the recommend dose of any medicine!

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:18

No, not changing cleaning or laundry products. He says he’s fine and I’m making a fuss. Given him anti histamine. I’m worried he isn’t and is a bit cross I’m making a fuss but it looks awful!

OP posts:
catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:18

Does look like hives from googling. He is quite stressed as work is shite at the moment

OP posts:
Lindy2 · 14/12/2019 22:21

I agree with other posters, it looks very much like an allergic reaction. The antihistamines should hopefully sort it out. If it disappears shortly after taking them then you'll know if it's an allergy.

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/12/2019 22:21

I'd just leave him to it OP surely he can get his own antihistamine or call 111 if he felt ill or worried. If it doesn't go down he can always visit a pharmacy tomorrow and ask them to have a look and advise.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:22

He’s asked me to stop making a fuss so I will. Given him an anti histamine and he’s agreed if it’s no different tomorrow to go to the walk in. Thanks all x

I'd still keep an eye on it despite what he says!
My Dh got this once after eating tuna, very odd.
Has he eaten anything different?

Justaboy · 14/12/2019 22:27

I get the old hives from time to time i usually take around 4 to 5 Piriton that slows it down and stops it but one defining symptom is it itches like no ones business!, is he really itchy as it dosent look like the Uericaria i get thats a lot of small bumps.

Still give him some Pirton and see what the resutls are, if it is Hives and or Urticria it should start subsiding within a half and hour or so.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2019 22:28

No not eaten anything different. He now says he feels slightly short of breath so calling 111

OP posts:
Span1elsRock · 14/12/2019 22:28

Just keep an eye on him OP in case the allergic reaction progresses.

And it's sensible to see your GP to record it if nothing else.

ReanimatedSGB · 14/12/2019 22:29

If it's just a change in skin colour and no itching, swelling, puking, shortness of breath or other distressing symptoms, I wouldn't panic. If he starts feeling unwell, ring 101.
