To think wraps are shit?

That's not to say I don't like them, I do. I just cannot get to grips with making them. Any decent amount of filling and they don't wrap properly, unroll, fall apart. The ones that cone up on a fanjita kit are tiny, capable of holding 2 slivers of chicken and a cm of lettuce.

Am I going wrong, or aibu to think they are shit?

your technique isnt ok!
wraps are amazing!!!

just throw things on it andwrap it up!

mindproject · 14/12/2019 19:16

Don't buy kits.
Buy big wraps.
Put a layer of sauce/salsa/mayo on the wrap first before filling.
Put a line of the filling about a third of the way across the wrap.
Wrap tight.

Get the 'Stand and Stuff' Grin tortilla bowls - they also come in a kit.

You can pile those as high as you like!

Personally, I think they're awful tasteless things. May as well wrap your food in a brown paper bag. Give me proper bread/roll any time.

Notnownotneverever · 14/12/2019 19:23

Top tip, don’t buy the brand ones. The supermarket one brand ones, which are only found in the bread/croissant/crumpet aisle, are so much bigger and better.
Also you are warming them aren’t you? They don’t wrap properly if they aren’t warm.

Saw the title and thought ah! bread and filling. I was not going to start a thread on this but the opportunity has presented itself and while I have not read all the posts....

I just finished eating a M n Spencer chicken and bacon sandwich on grainy bread. Delicious !!

Thing is... it was reduced from £4.25 ( no way would I pay that for a sandwich ) down to 45pence.

I didn't think I wanted one until I saw the price.

Sorry if I am not in line with the rest of the thread. I am easily pleased you see and my full belly feels great.

viagrafalls · 14/12/2019 19:32

There's a knack - look up how to fold them on You Tube it changed my life Grin

BrotherlyLove · 14/12/2019 19:45

Your fanjita does need to be warned up first to make it more accommodating to getting adequately filled.

Daffodil55 · 14/12/2019 19:52

BrotherlyLove

I could not have put it better myself. Well I could have but I would be banned.

ZenNudist · 14/12/2019 19:56

I often do burritos with rice beans tomato salsa sour cream cheese chicken cheese lettuce. I overfill them so I sometimes wrap them on a sheet of clingfilm and then wrap the clingfilm which i roll down as I eat. Its less messy that way!

JigsawsAreInPieces · 14/12/2019 20:08

A friend taught me how to wrap fajitas while at work using photocopier paper and a variety of pens, treasury tags and paper clips. T'was an education I have never forgot. Mine don't fall apart. 😁

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/12/2019 20:16

@BrotherlyLove oh god. Maybe that's where I'm.going wrong? Not warming up properly and over stuffing?

@BrotherlyLove

Indeed. 😎

Being able to buy tortilla wraps thrills me. When I lived in England back in 95-04, they didn't exist! I'm a Mexican American and it was like a Brit living for years without a Yorkshire pudding or something.

I think OP that you may have to heat the tortilla wraps a bit longer to hold the shape and keep everything in it but don't overheat them or they get hard and crumble. Also, make sure the filling isn't too wet or too filled or else there will be disaster!

Personally, I'd have fajitas and quesadillas several times this week to get the technique just right.

Happy Eating!

If wraps don’t work for you then you could try roti rolls. Elephant Atta’s wholewheat rotis make perfect ones
