My children love oven baked haddock risotto which is also really quick and easy to do. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/408651/smoked-haddock-and-leek-risotto

They also like smoked salmon and spinach lasagne. www.bbcgoodfoodshow.com/recipes/detail/smoked-salmon-spinach-lasagne

Fishcakes always went down well.
I make my own - cod, spring onion, pancetta and cheddar/salmon, spinach and garlic & herb cream cheeses.
They all wolf them down.

Fish goujons/fishfingers were a good fallback. Easy enough to make and freeze.

Tuna pasta bake.
Haddock and spinach risotto (BBCgoodfood)
Cod/salmon with a pesto crust.
Cod and chorizo stew.

I do find the BBC goodfood website to be a good source of inspiration. Or kids cookbooks - the recipes are simple and the kids like it!

Normal pesto

Jeezoh · 13/12/2019 16:38

Mix 1 tablespoon each of olive oil, soy sauce and honey, marinade a piece of salmon in it then bake for 20 minutes at 200 (with foil over the fish). Gives a lovely sweet and sticky glaze, serve with rice and mixed veg.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 13/12/2019 16:39

Pasta with hot smoked salmon fillets, creme fraiche, and whatever green veg they will eat that week.

Jinglebellissimo · 13/12/2019 16:40

Cod with red pesto - so quick and easy (and yes I use it out of a jar).

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 13/12/2019 16:40

For seafood they will also have stir fried rice with veg and some of those tiny prawns straight from the freezer

Hope you don't mind me jumping on with a question, but the answer might help you as well OP (or might not!)

Does anyone know what cut of fish and how to cook it so it tastes just like that in fish and chips? DS loves fish and chips from takeaway or if we eat at a pub but it's not the fish in batter he likes, he cuts off the batter and eats the fish (and the chips). So logically I should be able to just give him plain fish but I haven't yet been able to recreate the chunky, firm flakiness of when it's cooked in batter so that he will eat it!

Flyingfish2019 · 13/12/2019 16:48

@AliMonkey Great question to ask. Unfortunately I do not know but I hope somebody has the answer.

This is lovely. Real comfort food which the DCs love:

msmith501 · 13/12/2019 16:51

My white answering the question but I use silver hake for fish fingers as it's a steak- like fish that holds its shape and responds well to being breadcrumbed.

TooMinty · 13/12/2019 16:53

Fish pie and fish cakes are popular with my kids, plus tuna mayo with sweetcorn as a sandwich filling or baked potato topping. They also like battered fish with chips and peas or beans. If I threaten them enough they will eat grilled salmon with veg and potatoes or noodles.

IpanemaGallina · 13/12/2019 16:58

I make the BBCgoodfood basic family fish pie which they all eat and the river cottage mackerel fish cakes.

I sometimes roast a salmon side on a Sunday with a bit of soy sauce rubbed on top.

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/12/2019 16:59

DS has always loved fish and loved salmon mashed in potato with peas as a toddler. He loved moules as he liked the mess of eating them!

IpanemaGallina · 13/12/2019 17:00

Also JOliver tuna pasta bake which is with a tomato based sauce. Recipe online.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/12/2019 17:02

Dd loves Thai green or red curry with one of those seafood packs with prawns, mussels and squid but white fish or salmon would work well too, and a Korma sauce if Thai is too spicy

supadupapupascupa · 13/12/2019 17:02

Salmon pasta. Cook shell pasta with frozen peas, microwave salmon portion 2 mins. Combine all with two dollops of cream cheese. My kids favourite meal!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/12/2019 17:04

If they're a bit adventurous then the packs of whole mussels are fun, show them how to eat them and stack them.
