I feel utterly in despair. How can people not care about the NHS, the planet, the homeless.... etc etc etc...

OP posts:
Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 12/12/2019 23:00

I wish people would quit the Tory bashing. I do care about the nhs, I do care about vulnerable people.

Ok, you keep telling yourself that, love. #oblivious

LaurieMarlow · 12/12/2019 23:00

Not in any real sense, no. You’ve just voted to make their lives worse. You’ll have to fucking own that I’m afraid.

Words are cheap.

mygrandchildrenrock · 12/12/2019 23:05

So sad and full of despair.

CripsSandwiches · 12/12/2019 23:06

It's part of a general wave of populism. Among the most educated labour would have won.

Deadsouls · 12/12/2019 23:08

We have to make the best of it, pick ourselves up and carry on. I'm am gutted and will be feeling the impact over the coming days, but we carry on and do what we can, even if it feels hopeless.

BMW6 · 12/12/2019 23:08

It’s not like Boris has destroyed the nhs by himself. We cannot blame conservatives.

The nhs is great but it is stretched to breaking point. There are too many people in this country. We are an ageing population. We get old get sick need dementia treatment, cancer treatment etc. We are treating more diseases than ever. 100 years ago some of these diseases were not even known let alone treated!

*The nhs is wonderful but at breaking point and this is the biggest reason why. Too many people using the service. It’s broken the system.

I wish people would quit the Tory bashing. I do care about the nhs, I do care about vulnerable people. BUT I don’t believe Jc and his endless money tree and unicorns is the answer.*

This sums up my thinking.

I am truly sorry that so many of you are so distressed by this result.
But I voted Conservative this time BECAUSE I believe in helping those in need - and to do that you have to manage a strong Economy. If there is no money in the kitty, no-one gets help.

And I think this result shows that the majority vote has gone to start getting on with Brexit (notice I said start there). This single issue has to be dealt with as a priority. People want the Government to get on with it (however long it will take) rather that prevaricate and go back and forth to Parliament, Lords and Courts endlessly,

QueenofLouisiana · 12/12/2019 23:09

I’m a SENCO, tomorrow I will meet several parents who want to talk through provision for their children in a mainstream school, applying for specialist provision and getting help from CAHMS. I can’t give them the answers they want, I can’t afford to give their children the support they need. I can’t magic away the waiting lists.

I’m feeling pretty shit.

Is anyone here old enough to remember life before the EU, or the EEC as it was originally?

Falling into despair is not an option. Grieve for a bit and then start again. It's the only way.

LaurieMarlow · 12/12/2019 23:10

People really do tell themselves any old shit.

Hingeandbracket · 12/12/2019 23:10

I'm thrilled, so much so that I've just opened the bottle of champagne that I had bought for Christmas Lunch. Well billy for you, and congratulations on your demonstration of empathy.

I am, just, why do you ask?

Tortoiser · 12/12/2019 23:12

It’s an absolute fucking shambles. Not just this, but the next 5 years (and beyond given Brexit is likely to ‘be done‘ if the exit polls are correct).

frillyfarmer · 12/12/2019 23:14

I keep seeing this "how can we not care about the NHS". And I do care, I care deeply.

BUT I also care very deeply about eating - about having three meals a day, about our food security and the future of agriculture and land management in this country. A safe NHS is rather pointless if you're faced with a starving nation. I implore you to read the utterly terrifying document that is Labours agricultural policy and dismiss it on merit that the NHS trumps all. Tunnel vision.

AlexaShutUp · 12/12/2019 23:16

I don't actually believe that anyone would be stupid enough to believe this. I'm afraid I don't buy it.

On the offchance that you're actually telling the truth, I pity you.

Pickledbrain1 · 12/12/2019 23:18

But we really do want to help people! To do that we need realistic promises. Not unicorns. We need a strong economy! Not a 4 day working week!

I have a good friend that is the teacher. She said that when labour was in government they had loads of equipment and teachers were sent on loads training courses etc. Sounds good huh? But actually this was bad in the long run because that money does not last forever. Labour did a piss poor job before and left us with no cash. Why should we believe them this time? At least the conservatives won’t bankrupt us!

mygrandchildrenrock · 12/12/2019 23:21

Deadsouls you’re absolutely right.

MangoStone · 12/12/2019 23:23

The nhs is wonderful but at breaking point and this is the biggest reason why. Too many people using the service. It’s broken the system.

Why is this then, too many immigrants? Too many people who bring a net financial gain to the country, who pay more in tax than they take in benefits? Too much extra tax revenue from all those immigrants, extra money that the conservative government has simply chosen not to spend on education, the nhs, policing, welfare, social care etc etc etc

Iggly · 12/12/2019 23:23

Yeah
Right

snowybaubles · 12/12/2019 23:23

It's the tories who have PUT so many in need Hmm

Piixxiiee · 12/12/2019 23:24

Wow the naivety is amazing.... the next 5 years are going to be tough the average family now. Unbelievable this many rich old people are still 'guiding' this country.

user1487194234 · 12/12/2019 23:24

It's so difficult to understand how so many can vote Tory
I am as sure as I can be that no one in my circle would
Mind you I would never be friends with am Tory

AlexaShutUp · 12/12/2019 23:24

Pickled, the Tories have been in power for the last decade. Do you really think that they have helped people?

Boris and his cronies don't give a toss. Why people can't see this, I really don't know. I guess a clueless electorate gets the politicians it deserves.

Iggly · 12/12/2019 23:24

The Tories have massively increased borrowing and will continue to do so.

That is why they didn’t cost their manifesto.

So, how is that the foundation for a strong economy? That debt needs paying back.
