Still not sure what I had hoped for, but it is what I expected.

moreturkeyforme · 12/12/2019 22:21

Boris or Corbyn

Best of two evils !

Corbyn needs to go to give any chance of a future labour Government

theduchessstill · 12/12/2019 22:21

Exit poll for ref was leave. In the days before remain was ahead, but exit poll correctly called leave. I had that same sense of doom then.

Thelnebriati · 12/12/2019 22:21

I blame the politicians. Its not that the majority are happy with the current situation; its that they felt the opposition would be worse.

Next step is, if politicians won't be an effective opposition to curb the excesses, we have to do it.

MamaMary · 12/12/2019 22:22

I thought people were intrinsically good, and this feels like a punch in the gut.

I thought people intrinsically had good sense. Thank God I was right.

larrygrylls · 12/12/2019 22:22

People are risk averse and are not going to vote for red blooded socialism from where we are now. It is also Christmas time and people want to keep their Christmas spending money and not be taxed until the pips squeak (to quote Dennis Healey) by next Christmas.

I suspect a lot of the MN middle class demographic talk remain and idealism but, once in the polling booth, vote with their brains and wallets.

Labour need to seriously reassess and fight for the middle ground. If we do move left, it will be an inch at a time, not a mile. And we need someone with charm pulling us in that direction, not a sneer.

PineappleDanish · 12/12/2019 22:22

If Labour had gone to the polls without JC at the helm I think it would've been a different (expected) result

Absolutely .Why can't Labour voters SEE that Corbyn is unelectable for a huge number of people?

Totally depressed about 55 SNP seats in Scotland. Nippy will be out in force tomorrow banging on about indy ref 2.

Butterisbest · 12/12/2019 22:22

If Labour had gone to the polls without JC at the helm I think it would've been a different (expected) result
This, 10 thousand times

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 12/12/2019 22:22

What M3lon said.

I'm bleakly glad. I shall take great satisfaction from seeing all the working class turkeys who have voted for xmas finally wake up from the brexit kool aid they've been drinking.

Bring on the cuts. We're so stupid we deserve them.

c3pu · 12/12/2019 22:22

I'm a staunch remainer, and the result depresses me extremely.

The only saving grace I can think of is that with a thumping majority, the conservatives can rip the plaster off and actually get some shit done and end the paralysis that has been enduring for 3 years.

I expect that the next election will be out of labours grasp with a defeat this big, I hope 10 years is enough for the labour party to get behind someone electable and build some support.

sarralim · 12/12/2019 22:22

All of you who say ''I hope so'' - are you all coming out of the woodwork now? Please don't complain when it all comes tumbling down. Because if the Tories win, the shit will hit the fan. Enjoy the ride!

Fantababy · 12/12/2019 22:23

The simple problem is JC is a Marxist and a supporter of terrorists, that anyone that has a single brain cell would vote for this evil man is depressing.

Oh ffs. Do you know how fucking stupid you sound?

shirleyschmidt · 12/12/2019 22:23

Hope so!

Justcallmebebes · 12/12/2019 22:23

Let's hope so

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 12/12/2019 22:23

More often than not the end results might not be quite as good or as bad which ever side you are on

But I don’t think the exit polls have ever been completely wrong

josephineisblue · 12/12/2019 22:23

Boris Johnson's made so many racist (and some sexist) comments over the years and yet he can get such a large majority.

It just confirms what most POC know....

DewDropsonKittens · 12/12/2019 22:24

Unbelievable

zoemelb · 12/12/2019 22:24

The exit poll is as depressing as the Brexit results. Fucking hell. Corbin should heva resigned 2 years ago instead of sticking around and promising non sense (hoping same results as May election). Corbyn please go, it's already depressing enough with BJ as PM majority.

SpruceTree · 12/12/2019 22:24

I am not a Conservative fan but I just can't bear Corbyn. I suspect this is the case for quite a few people.
Corbyn has clung on and clung on despite his party wanting him out on a few occasions. Maybe he will finally step down but I wouldn't be surprised if he continued to ignore everyone and refused to go. In the past I was a Labour voter. This time I voted Liberal Democrat's. Maybe it's because of people like me Conservatives have done to well.
Labour are blaming it on Brexit but it's because of Corbyn.

Notfeelingmeatall · 12/12/2019 22:24

What do conservative voters think about the strong possibility of the NHS being privatised under vile Boris? Do you care?

What about poverty rates? The fact that WORKING people need food banks?

Spacebowlisback · 12/12/2019 22:24

I’m a labour supporter. And I have to agree - Corbyn knew that he was a huge factor as to why people wouldn’t vote for the party. I take issue with his ongoing leadership given that.

larrygrylls · 12/12/2019 22:24

And, incidentally, GBP is surging, both against the USD and Euro....

theduchessstill · 12/12/2019 22:24

People are risk averse so have voted for someone who will crash us out of the EU with huge uncertainty ahead. Ok then.

IncrediblySadToo · 12/12/2019 22:25

It’s not about ‘not caring’

If you honestly think a Labour Party would be good for this country, you need to have a good hard look at its history. They promise everyone everything, then bankrupt the country and the cycle starts over. Yes the conservatives had to take the position of austerity, but ask yourself why.

That aside, did you really want a hung parliament?

I’m no fan of the conservatives either, but they’re slightly less of a shit show than labour or a cobbled together mob.

Boris will be (even more) insufferable, Corbin will be more vocal about what they would have done - with no way of affording it and utter shit show the give has made if brexit will continue

David fucking Cameron should have had the balls to deliver article 50 and walk away, l

Phlewf · 12/12/2019 22:25

Could it be any clearer that Scotland is different from the rest of the UK? Let all the UK for UKEXIT is say.
