I was thinking of buy my 30 year old daughter a nice ballpoint pen for Christmas, my OH says youngsters don’t use them these days. Is he right? Don’t want to waste my money.

What pens does your OP think they use then?!

It’s not like you’re suggesting getting her a fountain pen!

I'm 35 and a stationery addict and I would love one! My friend bought me a joules nice ballpoint and mini pencil case, and it lives in my handbag. You always regret not having a pen that works in your handbag!

I guess whether she would like it or not depends on her, and you're the best person to know that really!

I was given a beautiful (and pretty expensive) ballpoint pen as a gift. My 30 year old daughter often borrows it when she goes away to meetings etc. She still has it at the moment. I love a really good quality pen to carry around in my bag for those moments when you need to take a note or fill in a form. It's definitely a 'bag' pen though, and not for general home usage. It's fat and a beautiful electric blue. Lovely present imho

I gave a friend an pen engraved with her initals, she did use a pen a lot at work. My favorite present to recieve is a book.

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 11/12/2019 09:40

I’m 30
I asked for one last Christmas from my Dad. I love a good pen! Mine is personalised.

LastMichaelmas · 11/12/2019 09:40

Pens 😍😍😍

Hoppinggreen · 11/12/2019 09:41

I’m in my 40s and DH bought new a beautiful pen for Xmas a few years ago. I love it

Letthemysterybe · 11/12/2019 09:43

I like nice stationary and would
like a nice pen and notepad. Nothing too fancy though, paperchase would do! Ive bought my dc some bright fineliner pens for their stocking, and I am more than a little bit envious.

QuiteForgetful · 11/12/2019 09:43

You could ask her dp if she has one, if she has a wish list at amazon or favorite shop or anywhere else. Or if she is on pinterest she may have a wish list.

I'm 34 and love pens. I have even converted my husband. Between us we now have a number of Waterman fountain, ballpoint and mechanical pencil. They're beautiful to write with and, for me anyway, the perfect weight balance. :D

IMWang · 11/12/2019 09:47

I'm 30 and I would love that as a present. I am a bit obsessed with stationary though

JacquesHammer · 11/12/2019 09:48

I would be delighted to receive a pen as a gift!

memaymamo · 11/12/2019 09:49

I really like nice pens and sometimes buy them for myself. I write a lot of notes and to do lists etc in my job and don't like doing it digitally.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 11/12/2019 09:50

my OH says youngsters don’t use them these days.

"Youngsters"?
Don't use pens?

What?

What the fuck do they write with then? A lump of charcoal?

Or is this just a weird jibe about millennials?

PurpleDaisies · 11/12/2019 09:51

Jewellery. For £20 you could get some lovely earrings on Etsy.

Comefromaway · 11/12/2019 09:52

I like nice pens but I often can't write with them as they slip through my fingers.

Lamy are nice though.

loobyloo1234 · 11/12/2019 09:52

I am early 30's. I use a cheap biro at work. Wouldn't find an expensive one useful. Will she?

showmewhatyougot · 11/12/2019 09:54

I'm 30, I'd like a fancy pen?

Depends on if your daughter likes nice stationary though ;) x

Lweji · 11/12/2019 09:55

For under £20, I'd rather have a book. Does she read books?

Having said that, why do you need an "extra"?

Lweji · 11/12/2019 09:56

I am a bit obsessed with stationary though
Clearly not enough. Wink

Angeldust747 · 11/12/2019 09:59

I'm 30 and love my swarovski pen! I do like stationary in general but I like having it in my handbag because you end up needing a pen quite often and it's nice to pull a fancy one out 😂

PurpleDaisies · 11/12/2019 10:00

STATIONERY.

STATIONERY.

STATIONERY.

Stationary means not moving.

formerbabe · 11/12/2019 10:01

Waste of money imo.

abitoflight · 11/12/2019 10:01

I've bought those pretty Swarovski pens as presents and they have gone down well
DD1 (20) loves hers - she's an organised person who doesn't lose things. Always has it in her handbag
BUT do buy refills too! They are only small refills and not that long lived

SillyUnMurphy · 11/12/2019 10:01

My mum bought me a beautiful Mont Blanc last year, which I absolutely love. My job involves a lot of hand writing and I get so many complements on my pen in meetings Grin
