To think that the woman next to me on the train is judging me...

....for eating my dinner! (Leon chicken satay box, not very stinky). She keeps side-eyeing me every time I take a mouthful. Am also a tweny by it tipsy after post off-site drinks. It's been a looooong day ( up v early for train to London then full day of meetings).
She's going to be even more enraged when I get the mince pie dessert out in a minute! Grin

This morning was Starbucks porridge. Anyone offended by that?!

Why? Are you offering a prize? I can arrange to be incandescently outraged, for a PRIZE, OP. I will bring Judgey Corgi if you fix it so I win.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 20:59

Hahaha I don't know what Judgey Corgi is but bring it on!

This is so funny Grin people are weird.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:00

BTW the woman is most definitely not pregnant. Well into her 50's.

What? Discrimination! She might be phantom pregnant, or identifying as pregnant! How inconsiderate!

Greenglassteacup · 10/12/2019 21:01

I once slipped over on someone’s pasta salad in an LNER aisle. Unpleasant times

messolini9 · 10/12/2019 21:02

@dontalltalkatonce 'a polite sandwich' oh ha ha haha hHA HA HA HA - mumsnet at its Pearly Perfection!

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:03

Sorry, but you lost the prize. That goes to one poster who stated categorically that the only thing acceptable is a 'furtive sandwich' that you keep in a pocket and nibble on when you're sure no one can see it/smell it/hear it.

PepsiCat33 · 10/12/2019 21:03

Probably a misophone but as one myself, this is why headphones were invented. Less murders 😂

StrawberrySquash · 10/12/2019 21:04

'' This morning was Starbucks porridge. Anyone offended by that?''
The smell makes me feel a bit grim, but I wouldn't say people shouldn't because of that.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:04

Yes, the 'polite' sandwich had to be made of ham, or you could eat plain rice, cake, fruit or ready salted crisps. The 'furtive sandwich' poster was supposedly a bloke.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 21:05

My key take-out (office wanky speak taken directly from today's off-site) is that some of you are sooooo my people, and some of you are sooooo not! Standard MN responses split down the middle. Just goes to show, it takes allsorts!

Lookit, I know work is finished now but DO try to keep up @chocolatesaltyballs22. You have the attention span of a serial sherry-sniffer right now, & YES i am Judge Messo.

Unless you've ever taken a bus journey from Bangkok to Chang Mai (about 12 hours), half an hour into which the bus stopped for people to buy durian at a roadside stall for snack on the bus, the smell of which got into the air conditioning system for the rest of the journey, you've no authority to comment on the offensiveness of the OP's train dinner.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 21:07

Aaaaaaah sorry, slow on the uptake there! It's been a long day

OP posts:
messolini9 · 10/12/2019 21:07

You're eating liquorice now? Sorry OP [bangs gavel authoratively] I'M OUT.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 21:09

😂😂😂 I do love MN sometimes! My fellow commuters now think I'm crazy due to all of the laughing!

user1493494961 · 10/12/2019 21:09

Penberrh - that cannot be beaten, you win the prize.

messolini9 · 10/12/2019 21:10

@dontalltalkatonce THANK YOU for the 'furtive' update.

How did the poster imagine one could furtively hide the smell, one wonders? ChristOnnaBike we Brits are odd.

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 10/12/2019 21:10

There’s a reason that trains stations are chock full of prets and Leon’s. There’s also a reason m&s introduces those little wine bottles with a glass attached and sell them at trains stations.

Goldrill · 10/12/2019 21:10

I will be commuting from the north of Scotland to England tomorrow, which is not an unusual occurence, and I am fully intending to take a pizza for my tea. I'd definitely pick a leon thingy if it was available- I have pre emptive takeaway envy OP.

(And lots and lots of other people will be having their teas at tea time too!)

RougeVinEtFromage · 10/12/2019 21:11

@ShirleyPhallus is FUMING right now. Grin you made me smile.

nettie434 · 10/12/2019 21:11

Sounds a great dinner and hope it wasn’t spoiled by judgey passenger. My favourite journey was when I sat near some young people making Aperol spritzers. They offered me one (despite my being distinctly middle aged) but I had to say no as I had some work to finish. They were lovely and really brightened up the journey. Many people finish work late and have long journeys home. Eating (and drinking) on the train is often their only option. Bon appetit!

Illeana · 10/12/2019 21:12

Some minger did this on the train table next to me last week. She was shovelling it in and couldn’t have got her face closer to the trough carton if she tried. It’s really rude to eat stinky food on trains.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:12

'' This morning was Starbucks porridge. Anyone offended by that?''

I am porridge intolerant. I would be so offended, probably gag and vomit on the floor. You are so inconsiderate! Can't you just get up an hour earlier to eat? Can't you just eat at your desk at work (where someone else will be offended)? Can't you just eat dust? Can't you just not breathe because it all stinks and I'm so offended? Grin.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/12/2019 21:12

I am disproportionately excited that Leeds just got its first Leon. Happy days in Yorkshire
