Can anyone decipher this handwriting for me?

We moved house just under a year ago. We are on nodding terms with the next door neighbours, but have never exchanged names. Now they've sent us a Christmas card with the names on, which should be great, as I won't have to ask them, except I can't read the handwriting! Any ideas? I've cut off the man's name as I can read that, and I can see the last one is Emily, but the other three are a mystery. If it helps, the children are girl, boy, girl.

Can anyone decipher this handwriting for me?

I think the first name is reece

PsychosonicCindy · 10/12/2019 12:50

Wouldn't it be funny if the person who wrote the card was on mumsnet and she could tell us her name!!

SirVixofVixHall · 10/12/2019 12:52

I would just say i was so sorry but couldn’t work out all their names, then she will tell you, and you can tell all of us !

ShouldI101 · 10/12/2019 12:52

Are you going to the polling station on Thursday? You might be able to sneak a look at the list as they are scoring your name off

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 10/12/2019 12:55

ShouldI101 that's genius. If you can't quite see it you could say something like 'have my neighbours at number ** been in yet? They asked me to remind them'

bellill · 10/12/2019 12:56

Its 100% Aimee. The dot above the e is an accent because its the French spelling - its how my name is spelt and for some reason people always spell it Amiee?! Can't help you on the first name though haha! I thought Reece but know you've said its the mums name. I think you'll just have to go for the option of 'To number x' or ask one of the other neighbours if they know?!

SlurplePurple · 10/12/2019 12:59

Heidi? For the first name maybe?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 10/12/2019 12:59

Its 100% Aimee.

Except there is no i between the A and the m

bellill · 10/12/2019 13:04

The i is joint from the dash across the middle of the A ..that's how I read it anyway.

GlamGiraffe · 10/12/2019 13:08

Ask another neighbour if they know her name as your suffering an 'amnesiac moment'. It happens.

MulticolourTinselOnTheTree · 10/12/2019 13:10

That second name is Amiee.

If you take a close look, you can see the faint pen stroke between the first two uprights of the "m". It's similar to my own handwriting. But it's not me, I haven't written any cards yet 😁

Reba0706 · 10/12/2019 13:18

I'm so invested in this.....I think the final 3 names have been said but the first one is a mystery....PLEASE come back and update us when you know the answer!!!

Reba0706 · 10/12/2019 13:21

Does the card have anymore writing in so we can compare the letter formation?

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 10/12/2019 13:26

I might send one like this to our new-ish neighbours to see if it ends up on here. I'll add the cats names too to really flummox them Grin

RevolutionofOurTime · 10/12/2019 13:41

It really is a very English problem isn't it!

This made me smile. How is that a quintessentially English problem? People have bad handwriting the world over, and most people have once (or repeatedly) forgotten people’s names before.

This exact same situation could happen pretty much anywhere in the world.

This just seems like a very odd form of cultural appropriation of a universal issue.

InsertFunnyUsername · 10/12/2019 13:43

Shelli?

xChristmasJumperx · 10/12/2019 13:43

I thought the same! I'm not English. I don't live in England (or Britain). We've all experienced this surely!

LaurieMarlow · 10/12/2019 13:44

Is the point not that a non English person would just ask?

IScreamForIceCreams · 10/12/2019 13:45

Firstname Diane?

Yambabe · 10/12/2019 13:45

I think the first one is Traci.

Definitely Aimee, Liam and Emily for the others.

lightlypoached · 10/12/2019 13:45

Drew?

5foot5 · 10/12/2019 13:46

Prue

IScreamForIceCreams · 10/12/2019 13:46

Failing Diane, it has to be Drizzle.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 10/12/2019 13:46

I think it's Ania not Aimee. The second a is formed in exactly the same way as the a in Liam.

LaurieMarlow · 10/12/2019 13:52

How is anyone getting a T out of that first letter?
