Boris Johnson refuses to look at photo of child on hospital floor

Johnson repeatedly refusing to look at picture of a four year old child on a hospital floor when confronted by an ITV reporter. After refusing to so much as glance at the photo, he then proceeds to pocket the reporters phone(!?) while mouthing empty platitudes. Here’s a link, but I’m sure you’ll see it on the news anyway..

Was he having a bad day? Nah, it’s Johnson to a T: a privileged, uncaring, unashamed bullshitter, out for number one. Does this man represent our country?

@PonderLand

It is ludicrous for a city the size of Leeds to have stopped children from going to A&E at St James, the other main hospital in Leeds. When my son was younger, that's where I took him when I needed to.

It would be a different thing having all A&E sevices for children at one site if that site wss a dedicated children's hospital, but it isn't.

As someone else said before, a government can't micro manage every hospital. That's what you have hospital boards for. Are they not responsible, or is it only prime ministers?

So the FB posts are fakes then. Multiple names with same posts.

Disgraceful and well spotted. Although reading it I’m not surprised, you can tell it’s a load of bs

Spamantha · 10/12/2019 02:28

@Lourake

How do you feel about Boris' history of racist comments? Is racism okay as long as you're not the victim?

Lourake · 10/12/2019 02:47

Why what’s Boris said

Lourake · 10/12/2019 02:51

The left are so deceitful . We are getting like the US .... the problem is people are to lazy to fact check so you get knee jerk reaction by the subs 100

SnowyRacoon · 10/12/2019 04:10

In reality this is happening across every A&E unit across the country everyday of the week. The NHS has been sabotaged by this government for years.

hallygore · 10/12/2019 05:54

I was in St James's the week before and there were times I could of cried because instead of being ill I was keeping an eye on vulnerable patients in a falls bay which should of had 2 staff on but only had 1 if that most of the time. I wound up ringing my buzzer every time 2 ladies tried to get up or trying to distract them. I spent days waiting for tests, surgery and was then after a ludicrous wait for pharmacy, couldn't get a porter to take me down to the exit and after an hour, I gave up and walked down myself. I'm not angry with the hospital at all, I'm angry with the fact there aren't enough doctors, nurses, beds and support workers. Without free movement of EU workers we are totally and utterly screwed. These issues will take decades to solve and what do we do about staffing in the meantime. Let's get brexit done and screw ourselves further.

I think Leeds needs another A&E and surgical and medical assessment units but the big issue is how the hell you will staff them. The children's A&E unit is ludicrously small. I don't know if the plans for the new children's hospital include any extra capacity.

Rhinosaurus · 10/12/2019 06:23

The whole thing stinks, who knows what is fact? Facebook posts could easily be fake. The child could have been on the floor for minutes or hours.

I find it deeply disturbing when parents take photos of their sick child in hospital and put them on Facebook, the child is not able to consent and those pictures are then online for anyone and everyone to see forever, even if the parent deletes the pictures someone could have screenshot and saved - this breaches children’s rights to privacy and dignity.

slipperywhensparticus · 10/12/2019 06:32

I cant believe people are actually excusing boris's behaviour by saying he is in his fifties my mom is nearly 70 and still WORKING

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/12/2019 06:37

Apart from the lack of compassion the other worrying thing is Boris's lack 9f ability to think on his feet.

He's done nothing of substance. He was a terrible mayor, made some really bad decisions ( road on the coat tails of the Olympics but had next to nothing to do with it). He failed as foreign secretary and has serioudpuly endangered lives). He can do quips, he can quote Latin but when it matters, he has nothing.

wedwoses · 10/12/2019 06:44

@Lourake

You might find this useful - put together by a former colleague of Boris at the Daily Telegraph, Peter Oborne - hardly a leftie - and a number of other journalists who've worked at places like the Daily Mail - again hardly lefties. Doesn't just cover Boris, gets updated on a regular basis although I think they've had a bit of trouble keeping up recently.

In his fifties! Ffs. God help you when you are in your fifties.

donquixotedelamancha · 10/12/2019 06:57

I don't think he pocketed the phone deliberately, he was just distracted and wasn't thinking straight.

That has to be the most laughable excuse for terrible behaviour I've seen. He refused to look at it 10 times before pocketing the phone.

Bojo is in his 50s, so maybe he struggles to see such things without reading glasses

And 10s later I have a new most laughable excuse.

The left are so deceitful . We are getting like the US

Yes, 'the left' stole his glasses :-)

PostNotInHaste · 10/12/2019 07:09

Those of you bleating on about fake news and berating the Mother for selling the story are spectacularly missing the point that the NHS is at breaking point. I was in hospital recently for a night a night and had to get help for an elderly patient who was crying out in pain. The staff were great, there just weren’t enough.

Can you not see that we have been set against each other? We’ve been artificially divided into two groups and are being manipulated. Read the Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes experiment by Jane Elliot. She did it in relation to racism but it shows how easily people adopt a group, identity. If you think about it, makes a lot of sense to have that as an innate tendency, people fared better in groups than on there own for survival purposes but this tendency has stayed with us and is now being exploited for political gain and works exactly as those who exploit it intend it to. The Zimbardo prison experiment is another that shows how quickly we adopt group identity and that is exactly what is happening to some people who then become more and more entrenched.

And as fo

I’ve been here for 16 years and seen a fair few elections come and go so know a lot of people on this thread are not genuine posters but those of you turning on the Mother, just stop and think for a moment - you are trying to defend the indefensible. Stop turning this into a left versus right, it is simple humanity.

Moonmelodies · 10/12/2019 07:22

It's all very confusing, on one hand we hear of this boy on the floor, and then we get Rob Delaney on the TV last night telling us the NHS is amazing.

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/12/2019 07:40

It's not really. Its It's possible for two things to be true at the same time.

The NHS is amazing and its underfunded.

The nhs is amazing despite its underfunding.

hazeyjane · 10/12/2019 07:41

The NHS is amazing....but it is stretched to the extent that parts of it are struggling and often failing, it needs properly funded properly targeted support, but instead it is underfunded, sometimes mismanaged and huge chunks of it are being contracted out to private companies like Virgincare.

penberrh · 10/12/2019 07:41

Moonmelodies I think the point is that the NHS is an amazing thing to have but it being run into the ground by chronic underfunding so the torrid have an excuse to get rid of it.

And it won’t happen in an obvious way, but bit by bit. It be done stealthily until one day you turn up and find that there is a priority lane for those who have paid extra to ‘upgrade’

AutumnCrow · 10/12/2019 07:48

@Theworldisfullofgs Johnson's Latin isn't all that, either. He's supposedly 'fluent', whatever that means in any meaningful contemporary context. He has memorised, from his elite studies, a large number of phrases and short passages; but if I wished to discuss a particular translation of, say, Tacitus, he would most definitely not be my Go To latinist.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 10/12/2019 07:54

The left are so deceitful

Oh for goodness sake Grin daft statement...people are deceitful, some MUCH more than others

Ive seen loads of people take pictures of sick children, or themselves...i should imagine sometimes its out of pure anger and frustration.
