Our cat is getting a round bed to curl up in

FreshStart01 · 09/12/2019 04:07

Our dog loves unwrapping presents!

TulipCat · 09/12/2019 04:10

Fine to buy them, totally unnecessary waste of paper to wrap them up.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 09/12/2019 04:20

Our dogs loved ripping the paper off their presents! Smile

No mine does every year for Christmas, his 'gotcha' day (day we got him from the rehoming kennels) and Birthday. He opens his first Christmas day to give him something whilst all the excitement is going on.

For Christmas he's got a squeaky Christmas tree and some treats. It breaks my heart really as he's old now and no longer plays but I always get him a toy and just couldn't not.

You probably won't get much support on here as MN isn't a very pet friendly place imo but I couldn't give a shit what people think. He's part of our family and with all the cruelty and abandoned animals and even pets that aren't bothered with I'll give him the best life I can. I like him much more than most people.

Noooooo YANBU, cos that means I am too, and that's not possible Grin

NearlyOutedMyself · 09/12/2019 04:42

Our cats get presents! Why not? Dogs alwars need more chews or toys.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 09/12/2019 04:44

Of course YANBU. Dogs are family too.
My little boy is getting a new toy box with plenty of treats.

My Christmas present for my cat was the first gift I purchased this year! Every since I was little and got upset when I found out Santa didn’t come for our pets, I’ve always made sure that they hade a gift under the tree. So I don’t think YABU at all!

Megan2018 · 09/12/2019 05:22

In my house the cats, chickens and horse all get a stocking so YANBU!

Cockadoodledooo · 09/12/2019 05:38

Our bunny gets presents because he's part of the family too! Don't wrap them though.

WatchingTheMoon · 09/12/2019 05:57

One of my dog's favourite things is ripping paper off of things. He usually just gets old toilet rolls to rip up but he also gets to unwrap his and everyone else's presents.

WatchingTheMoon · 09/12/2019 05:58

My mum sends an individual card to our dog though...that's taking it too far. She also gets offended if she doesn't get a present from our dog, and I'm not even joking.

BrokenWing · 09/12/2019 06:02

We wrap ours up loosely with a few of layers of paper with training treats in every layer. He loves ripping it apart for his treats.

Tumbleweed101 · 09/12/2019 06:11

Our dog has always had a present to unwrap. She loves it.

hazell42 · 09/12/2019 06:14

Barmy. The lot of you

Sniv · 09/12/2019 06:17

As a child, watching the dog open his presents was one of my favourite parts of Christmas morning. We all took turns to open a present each, including the dog, and he would patiently sit there vibrating with excitement until his turn, and then go bonkers getting into some wrapped up goodies, before taking his seat and waiting like a good boy for his turn to come round again.

To make sure he didn't get too many treats, we would open the bag and take a couple out, re-seal it with scellotape, and wrap it up with a couple loose in the paper. His final present would always be something like a pigs ear, that he would naturally take off somewhere out of the way for a while, and so not be under my Mum's feet in the kitchen all morning.

bengalcat · 09/12/2019 06:17

My hound has a Christmas cracker filled with biscuits and partner has ordered a lamb shank for her and extra quails for the cats .

NotMaryWhitehouse · 09/12/2019 06:19

Last night I wrapped presents for my mum's cat. He will love them and I'm excited to watch him open them and then attack the paper.

If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

ThinkWittyThoughts · 09/12/2019 06:24

Of course pets get Christmas presents and a stocking. They're part of the family. I'm shocked anyone would think otherwise.

I can't wait to see my dog-neice's face when she opens her presents from us this year - 20 different indestructible toys just for her. I reckon they might survive to NYE... Grin

EmmaJR1 · 09/12/2019 06:32

My dog has a tuffy stegosaurus and some treats all wrapped ready to go in her stocking. Right next to my children's! She loves ripping wrapping paper.

Stoople · 09/12/2019 06:36

YANBU, but maybe use old newspaper or reused paper as he won't have a clue and will have fun ripping it off regardless.

sall74 · 09/12/2019 06:43

My dog gets presents wrapped in newspaper so no waste of wrapping paper.
He even got excited the other day when the Xmas tree and decorations were getting put up as he knows what it means.
