AIBU to be shit scared of BJ winning the next election?

Not sure how everyone else is doing, but I am just increasingly terrified about the idea that BJ and the likes of Jacob Rees-Morgan, Ian Duncan Smith (god they are just so disgusting Angry) are going to win this election. Got family in Australia and this morning it was raining ash and people literally can't breathe. The Tories are going to do nothing, zero, nada about climate change. And when I look at my kids I just don't know how we are going to survive another five years. and don't get my started about the state of the kid's school - the teachers are doing their best, but the reality is it's a shit show bc of how many cuts they have had. Friends are going canvassing for Labour and me and DH are doing our bit too - but it all just feels surreal - BJ talks shit, tells lies, and has reinvented himself as "new" when the fucker has been IN GOVT for years. Any got any ideas on how we can turn this around?

And why do people with no argument invite you to research to prove their point?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/12/2019 12:38

The argument about Boris Johnson (and all other PM’s or other senior cabinet ministers) negotiating arms deals and a back bencher meeting up for discussions with terrorists is one (the first) is in the role of representing the UK (benefiting UK economy/jobs - regardless if you agree with the sales it creates money and jobs) and the second is in the interests of your own personal political beliefs

Jeremy Corbyn has never ever been involved in any high level peace talks and has been selective on who is has these peace talks with (the side he sides with)

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2019 12:38

“ Your argument is a bit illogical, no? Surely if we are the ones selling them weapons, that means they have less money left for their funding of nefarious groups, doesn’t it“

That sounds as if you’re saying it’s a good thing to sell weapons to dodgy regimes because they then won’t have any money left to give to terrorists. But you can’t possibly mean that. So what do you mean?

Alsohuman · 07/12/2019 12:40

So selling arms to terrorists is fine and dandy if you make a profit? Seriously?

Figmentofmyimagination · 07/12/2019 12:41

logjam because she’s a black woman with the affrontery to be on the political main stage whereas he is a white old Etonian we’ve seen on the telly.

LucaFritz · 07/12/2019 12:43

More scared about Labour getting in and bringing the country to its knees and then blaming it on the Jewish community somehow and starting world war 3 Hmm Corbyn and co are probably rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of it
And no im not a Tory voter either unlike most sheeple i realise there's other parties to vote for besides Liebour and the Conservative party thanks

MinervaSaidThat · 07/12/2019 12:45

because she’s a black woman with the affrontery to be on the political main stage whereas he is a white old Etonian we’ve seen on the telly.

Yes and also sending her child to private school - the horror!

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 07/12/2019 12:46

Cendrillon Thank you for answering my question. I mean, it’s a shame it’s with the weirdest possible answer but you tried and sometimes that’s the main thing Grin

MinervaSaidThat · 07/12/2019 12:46

Corbyn and co are probably rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of it

Are you seriously suggesting JC wants to start WW3 and blame it on Jews? Are you listening to how crazy you sound?

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 07/12/2019 12:47

Alsohuman Grin Conservative through and though! Who cares who dies if we’re getting rich?

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2019 12:50

“Yes and also sending her child to private school - the horror!“

Actually, that is shocking.
Makes me crosser than anything else she’s done. I wish she was across her brief a bit better sometimes- but I think that about all of them on both sides. Why can’t they be bit more fucking professional?

DowntownAbby · 07/12/2019 12:50

@Figmentofmyimagination utter bollocks.

Abbott is criticised at every turn because she's an utterly incompetent fuckwit.

It wouldn't matter if she was male or female. Black, white, blue or orange.

She's fucking useless and everyone, including her own party, knows it.

She's been put up there on the opposition front bench for reasons absolutely outside of any political competence.

Whichever party you favour you can't ignore that.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/12/2019 12:50

Every government will support the sales of arms why because it is so profitable to the UK

Every PM and the relevant senior member of the cabinet shall do so in their role even if they personally feel it’s wrong

That’s the difference - no one is saying that governments or PM should not be criticized for doing so

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/12/2019 12:52

I will pay £3 to join the Labour Party and support for leadership any candidate for leadership who is a centrist so that we don’t have to go through this insanity again in another 5 years. That person can kick out the communists and the party can get back to decent policies that might win it an election

It's not a bad idea at that. I've never been a political party member in my life, but if it meant a chance of ending this madness and getting back a decent choice it might just be worth it

CendrillonSings · 07/12/2019 12:56

That sounds as if you’re saying it’s a good thing to sell weapons to dodgy regimes because they then won’t have any money left to give to terrorists. But you can’t possibly mean that. So what do you mean?

I mean that the left-wing talking point that links the sale of British arms to foreign states with the security of citizens on our own streets is a stupid one. The two things have nothing to do with one another whatsoever.

Meanwhile Corbyn and Abbott voted against almost every piece of anti-terror legislation proposed during their careers, and St. Jeremy called Hamas and Hezbollah his friends...

MinervaSaidThat · 07/12/2019 12:57

@BertrandRussell

I don’t blame her for sending her child to private school, until there’s a level playing field for BAME children it’s not fair to judge.

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2019 12:57

“ If anyone’s likely to start ww3 it’s Trump. And presumably Johnson would join in on our behalf? Cherchez l’argent.

Jillyhilly · 07/12/2019 12:58

Nobody seriously thinks the Labour Manifesto is Hard Left, do they? Surely not!

It’s very odd that you think this question needs to be asked. Yes, a great many people think this, and it explains in part why a Labour Party who ought to have a thumping great lead over the Tories are in fact trailing them in the polls.

Sorry Enthusiasm but Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t agree with you. Smile

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2019 12:59

“ Abbott is criticised at every turn because she's an utterly incompetent fuckwit.”

Details, please.

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2019 13:01

“ It’s very odd that you think this question needs to be asked. Yes, a great many people think this, ”
Sorry- I meant anyone who has actually read it, knows what they are talking about and has not just picked up their opinions from the rig be wing press.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 07/12/2019 13:03

Yes, I am worried. But equally worried at the thought of Corbyn getting in. Neither are good options. So I'm voting Green for the first time ever. In the hope that it will at least flag up that the environment needs more consideration, esp if others follow suit.

GreenishMe · 07/12/2019 13:03

I agree with everything you say Jilly. It sucks that we're unable to vote for our own party because of JC & his militant sidekicks.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/12/2019 13:05

I don’t blame (Abbott) for sending her child to private school, until there’s a level playing field for BAME children it’s not fair to judge

It doesn't appear to have helped the way he turned out, does it?

Proof, it it were needed, that the Corbynistas lack of self awareness will ruin any chance Labour may have had.
