Yes, I am biased, because I've always found his brand of left wing wokery unfunny, but, let's face it, to think he could go on stage in front of that audience, with his usual routine of 'Brexit supporters are stupid' and not get the odd bread roll thrown at him, is pretty arrogant.

Gloating is not an attractive quality OP.
There’s a lot happening in the world and his misjudgment of his audience pales in comparison.

Gone2far · 04/12/2019 10:13

well - I think you could use that reply on 90% of AIBU posts.

Throwing bread rolls is pathetic and childish, if you do that you belong in the playground, Nish misjudged his audience that's all so move on

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 04/12/2019 10:16

Yaaawwnnn...

BertrandRussell · 04/12/2019 10:16

You do know that this was a charity gig? He was not being paid. So they booed off a comedian everyone knows does pro remain left wing comedy who was trying to help then raise money for their charity. OK, then.

slipperywhensparticus · 04/12/2019 10:17

Misjudged his audience? He is misjudging half the UK throwing bread at him is just s waste of food

MissLadyM · 04/12/2019 10:18

He's deeply unfunny and irritating. I love the Daily Mash website but the programme tries so hard, it's embarrassing.

MaryBerrysChutney · 04/12/2019 10:18

He totally deserved this. He is a arrogant git and can't stand him!

AlexaShutUp · 04/12/2019 10:19

He was doing it for charity. He did not deserve to be treated like that. It says more about the audience than it does about him.

HavelockVetinari · 04/12/2019 10:19

Spot on, @BertrandRussell

TurboTheChicken · 04/12/2019 10:20

He is well known for political comedy, so I'm not sure why the audience was surprised by the content.

He was doing an unpaid charity gig to support their charity, I'd say that at least means he should be treated with courtesy?

sofiathe2nd · 04/12/2019 10:21

I think his response to the was fairly sensible: not everyone finds everything funny and as a comedian he’s fairly used to it.

FWIW, I’m as left wing as they come and I don’t find him funny either.

Then again, throwing bread rolls just seems a tad wasteful...

WarmSausageTea · 04/12/2019 10:21

You do know that this was a charity gig? He was not being paid. So they booed off a comedian everyone knows does pro remain left wing comedy who was trying to help then raise money for their charity. OK, then.

Totally agree with this. YABU to be cheered up by shitty behaviour.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/12/2019 10:23

I think it was really poor behaviour on the part of the audience. I mean how immature is it to throw food? And while they might not have agreed with his views, half the country are on his side so they owe them the decency of listening and gasp, even taking a bit of ribbing.

PortiaCastis · 04/12/2019 10:26

Spot on Bertrand

frumpety · 04/12/2019 10:26

It wasn't the whole audience though was it ?
I think his reaction to what happened, after the event, actually paints him in a better light than those who booed and slow clapped and flung bread products at him. Wonder if the bread thrown was the inedible wholegrain roll , that looks and tastes like its been dipped in sawdust ?

Saucery · 04/12/2019 10:26

Can’t stand him and no doubt he revelled in the chance to rant at a captive audience, but no one should be throwing anything at comedians on stage at a charity gig.

IHateBlueLights · 04/12/2019 10:31

Yup. Spot on @BertrandRussell

I think the arrogance came from the chinless wonders hurling bread about, maybe they thought they were back in public school.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/12/2019 10:31

It seems a bit of a mismatch, having a pro remain left wing comedian perform for what looks like a group that is likely to have quite a significant leave bias.

Like getting Bernard to perform for a group of Mumsnetters although they might appreciate the MIL jokes.

No excuse for throwing food and booing Nish offstage. Are they eight?

BarbaraofSeville · 04/12/2019 10:32

Bernard = Bernard Manning.

frumpety · 04/12/2019 10:34

DD is going to watch a comedian tonight , do you think I should let her take some christmas tree crumpets to fling, just in case ?

Trewser · 04/12/2019 10:40

I think he was a tit and that the bread roll throwers were pathetic.

Aridane · 04/12/2019 10:44

Piss poor to throw bread rolls - boo if you want but don't throw stiff at them

RoyalCorgi · 04/12/2019 10:45

They could simply have shown their displeasure by not laughing, couldn't they? From a comedian's point of view that would be much worse - if people boo and throw stuff at you, at least you've got a reaction. If they sit there stony-faced, then they don't even care about you enough to react.

Devereux1 · 04/12/2019 10:47

I'm not sure what he expected when he said:

"“I should have known this would happen when I agreed to do a set in front of people who colonised my ancestors”

Hmm
