So this one was going round the pub the other night and I thought it was a lot of fun. And actually quite thought provoking. So... can you guess my age from these 5 facts.

  1. I legally bought cigarettes at 16... and had them in the smoking room at work.
  2. my first concert was a Smash hits tour headlining Sean Maguire and Boyzone
  3. I paid tuition fees at university
  4. my favourite outfit as a pre-teen was from tammy girl
  5. I have no IT qualifications, including GCSEs. I never had a dedicated 'IT' subject on my school timetable.

So what year was I born???

And play along... :)

1982, same age as my daughter.

ThebishopofBanterbury · 02/12/2019 18:29

Let us know op. I'm curious now!

Spied · 02/12/2019 18:29

80

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 02/12/2019 18:30

I think IT at school is a red herring. We did have dedicated IT classes (or computing as it was known then) but I am definitely older than OP from other clues (I was born 1974).

I'd guess 1981.

Babdoc · 02/12/2019 18:30

Anyone care to guess my vintage?

  1. I remember walking home from primary school through the notorious London smogs, pre Clean Air Act.
  2. I remember Kennedy’s assassination when I was a child
  3. My first boy band crush was one of the Monkees 4)When I first qualified as a doctor, the hospital cleaner earned more per hour than I did for working at night.
  4. My first house - a detached 4 bed in rural Scotland- cost just £29,000.

Butterfly02 · 02/12/2019 18:30

39?
I'm 40 and just missed out on tuition fees, starting uni age 18 in 1997.
I did have half a gcse equivalent IT course (we were a trial year for the school).

Coldemort · 02/12/2019 18:30

53 to 55 Shock
IT was a slight red herring sorry not sorry. I studied it up to year 9 but it came under the guise of 'design and technology'. So one month I'd be doing woodwork, the next IT (or actually IS) back then. I believe it became compulsory much earlier in England than Wales...

But well done mostly clever people. I was born 1981

@doadeer I reckon 1989 same as me Grin your clues resonate!

raspberryk · 02/12/2019 18:31

Housing? I think that was supposed to be boyzone*

whenskiesaregrey · 02/12/2019 18:32

I was born in 1986 and have no IT qualification. For GCSEs, we did English Lang, Lit, Maths, Double Science, a humanities, a modern foreign language, a 'tech' subject and then two 'options'. So IT would be an option, but I didn't choose it.

ThebishopofBanterbury · 02/12/2019 18:33

Ha love that game op!

Coldemort · 02/12/2019 18:33

@babdoc. Mid 50's?? I'd guess 54? (Thought the clean air act was earlier but you through me with the Monkees!)

NichyNoo · 02/12/2019 18:33

Tuition fees came in the year I went to uni which was 1998. I was born in 1980 but I had GCSE IT lessons at school.....I reckon you were born in 1979 or 1980.

@babdoc I'd say you were in your late 60s/early 70s - born around 1948-50 or so?

NichyNoo · 02/12/2019 18:34

Oops....didn't see your update Blush

DoraleeRhodes · 02/12/2019 18:34

jamoncrumpets · 02/12/2019 18:35

Lots of people guessed yours OP!

I've had two guesses of 1989 for mine

In the spirit of the game I'll see it I can do some clues for my age!

  1. My favourite gift I ever received as a child was a princess jasmine costume
  1. The first film I can remember seeing at the cinema was Jumanji
  1. I did IT classes at school but they mainly involved playing roller coaster tycoon
  1. I owned a blackberry and thought I was so high powered (think ally mcbeal)
  1. My first crush was Peter Andre 😂😂😂😂
