To ask for ideas as to what caterpillar toy my son is talking about?

DS is 3. On multiple occasions recently when talking to both me and ex about Christmas, he has asked for "a caterpillar toy that moves". Other than a pull along style one on a stick which I feel is pretty young for a 3 year old, I have no idea what he's talking about, but his persistence makes me think he's seen one somewhere. Have tried Google, which mainly brings back dog toys. Can anyone save me and shine a light on what on earth he's talking about?

Does he just really like the book do you think? Linked to that?

BertieBotts · 01/12/2019 20:12

Maybe the pull along on string kind? 3yos love them IME.

What about something like Hexbugs? Not really a caterpillar, but might be enjoyable for him, and you can add to the sets over the years.

Or much simpler, can you find a wind up caterpillar anywhere?

EnglishRose1320 · 01/12/2019 20:13

Could he mean the Fisher Price Code-a-pillar

this

PsychosonicCindy · 01/12/2019 20:13

There is a rocking caterpillar in Smyths like a rocking horse but a caterpillar obviously! It's 49.99

cookielove · 01/12/2019 20:14

You can get a pull along Caterpillar toy, or maybe the game that has the bugs that move?

ItsMischerWavy · 01/12/2019 20:14

He's not construction truck or tank mad is he?

Just thinking he may have picked up caterpillar as in the brand of construction equipment - they have a lot out at the moment.

Or a tank on caterpillar tracks maybe?!?

Goose the cat beat me to it!

You can also get a hex bug caterpillar I think

Could he mean these wooden caterpillars or maybe a stretch caterpillar toy.

I realise this is very basic, but remembering how obsessed my son got seeing these in Waterstones, could he just mean one of these?

The code-a-pillar is a far superior gift, obviously!

KipperTheFrog · 01/12/2019 20:44

My almost 3 year old loves her pull along toys!
She, and her 5 year old sister, also love their code-a-pillar.
Could be either of those?

pastabest · 01/12/2019 20:47

My three year old loves her pull along hungry caterpillar. Yes it's too young for her in theory, but she uses it in imaginary play a bit like a dog on a lead.

Hex bugs?

HelloDulling · 01/12/2019 21:06

I think the cheapy wind up one linked above.

DeanImpala67 · 01/12/2019 21:17

Try the Giggle Wiggle game, it's a caterpillar who stands up amd moves whilst you balance balls on it's hands.

PixieBigShoes · 01/12/2019 21:20

We had one which I think was Vtech as we couldn't turn it off. It said, "Wiggle Wiggle!" It sounded so sinister as the batteries got low!
