Caitlin Moran that is.

See timesonline.typepad.com/alphamummy/

But then my children haven't really taken to Charlie and Lola, so I'm biased...

psml at 'Apples?! Urgh. I hope an apple falls on your head one day and you die.'

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:04

Carmenere..i harbour no ill-feeling...all along I have said that people are entitled to their opinion..

Hurlyburly · 22/08/2007 16:08

I do harbour ill-feeling now. And I don't want to. Think it was being called a freak. That happens to me so rarely. Well in fact it has never happened to me before. So was a bit of a shock to the system.

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:12

HB - really, don't take it personally...
There always has to be a thread where people disagree and offer disatin and contempt for the OP or someone with a strong opinion..I don't even know who said th freak comment and I bet they've probably forgoten too...

Thanks for sharing, at least in part, my 'insane' opinion. Let it go over your head though..

Look. She was at the Green Man Festival, and fed up with all the psaltery playing maidens, and replete on cider and high on the stench of chemical toilets, she happened across this piece of gossip. Because she was at Green Man, away from the comfort of home and Cbeebies, and spending much time skating through a chocolate river of mud trying to find the next psaltery playing maiden whilst looking after her children, this piece of gossip seemed to her like a piece of home, and so she seized upon it and decided to share it with everyone. Cider must play a part and too much folk music, but evil, no.

Yet another timely reminder that giving The Times a wide berth is always a Good Thing hmm].
Horrible paper, and whatever the intent, those remarks on the blog sounded really off-key and misjudged. Splitting up because one of you doesn't want children is one of life's grimmest experiences and having it raked over just because you write beautifully observed children's books must really hurt.

Hurlyburly · 22/08/2007 16:18

Thanks Drop Dead. You do have to be pretty robust to cope with the sniping (for no reason) and Love Angel has a point.

Oh but Marina, The Times does have a reasonable crossword though.

SueBaroo · 22/08/2007 16:25

I love Country Living magazine. Makes me hanker after an aga and country pine to replace my nasty white leccy oven and laminate cupboards.

Desiderata · 22/08/2007 16:33

Lighten up, ladies Some of the views on this extremely unimportant piece of trivia are almost laughable in their venom.

Go do the washing up or something ...

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:45

desiderata...someone's death? Lets not start all over again

morningpaper · 22/08/2007 16:52

Why is this about someone's death?

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:55

because she said what she had discovered was dnamite gossip equal to 'that man' who died in barrymore's pool....

morningpaper · 22/08/2007 16:55

I assume you are referring to the Barrymore case

Which has sold millions of newspapers

because it is "gossip worthy"

hence the

Desiderata · 22/08/2007 16:56

I know, MP, I know ...

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:57

morningpaper · 22/08/2007 16:59

Who ISN'T interested in where celebrity's put their drug-fueled cocks?

It's all great stuff

that's her POINT

lucyellensmum · 22/08/2007 16:59

flipping heck, tomorrows fish and chip paper has been well and truly dissected. I hate the times too, and find it hard to fathom how you guys have the time to read it around the children. But thats just me being bitter because i often take dd to the cafe with me and keep her occupied by reading the childrens books so kindly supplied. Glaring resentfully at the unstressed beings sipping their lattes and pretending to read the times

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 16:59

theres no right oe wrong here obviously and I feel the same amount of frustration not being able to get people to understand my feelings..so I do sympathise...

But there's no need to be insulting about someone disagreeing with you

morningpaper · 22/08/2007 16:59
morningpaper · 22/08/2007 17:01

I want to make it clear that I DO NOT read the Times

I buy the Guardian because it gives me step-by-step instructions about how to draw crocodiles

Hurlyburly · 22/08/2007 17:29

Oh so that's where you've picked up your apostrophe habit.

LazyLineLegilimens · 22/08/2007 17:37

LoveAngel, I am sure that Apples are readily consumed over at NetMums, but we see them as positively common over here.

Dropdeadfred · 22/08/2007 17:56

well apples from tesco are urrggh but apples from waitrose are positively welcome
