Hot, savoury, low salt, high protein, quick to cook brekkie?

AIBU to believe some such items exist?

I don't really eat breakfast and when I eat at brunch time I want something hot and savoury. I don't want pastry (too many kcal). I don't want toast, too many carbs.

I want something either prepacked or quick to cook.

Please could I ask for your suggestions?

Tesco express used to do these quorn cocktail sausages which were hot in 20 secs in microwave, now I can't find them, though haven't looked in a big Tescos yet. They were ideal.

I could do cheese and ham on brown bread I guess.

Not fond of hard boiled eggs, or fried eggs. Omelette seems too much of an effort and mess and time and fiddling about and fustering and never getting it quite right.

I live alone too, so cooking 1 big omelette seems a waste, though I guess I could halve it and have other half tomorrow.

Any ideas for me?

I'm not vegan/veggie. Don't think I'd stomach fish early in the morning.

Scrambled eggs and spinach takes minutes and is lovely.

rockingaroundthemulberrybush · 30/11/2019 11:49

Could you buy in some rollitos or make your own? Roll up slices of cheese in ham?

Huevos rancheros (if you've more time?)

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 30/11/2019 11:53

Muffin tin omelettes freeze well, and you can heat them in the microwave in a couple of minutes

Timinfuckingruislip · 30/11/2019 11:55

What about getting one of those omelette cookers for the microwave?

AllergicToAMop · 30/11/2019 11:56

I love frittata like thing I make.
Chop up veg (and ham or salami, if you fancy it), put in a hot pan, spice to taste, stir, pour eggs, mix a bit and cover. I top it up with cheese. Very simple yet really tasty and nutritionally sound, depending on what you put in, obviously.

I live alone too, so cooking 1 big omelette seems a waste
Cook small one then?Confused

adjsavedmylife · 30/11/2019 11:57

Master the two egg omelette, so worth it! 6 inch omelette pan, Delia Smith recipe in how to cook 1, cooks in less than 2 mins.

AllergicToAMop · 30/11/2019 11:57

Oh and that frittata thing takes minutes. Really quite effortless

OccasionalNachos · 30/11/2019 11:58

Yeah, cook a small omelette. I do a small two-egg omelette with a mixture of cheese, mushrooms, spring onions, ham, peppers - whatever I’ve got available - that’s quick and easy.

FrenchBoule · 30/11/2019 11:59

Eggs. In salad, soft boiled,scrambled,omlet...

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 30/11/2019 11:59

Cook a small omelette? They don’t have to be big you know...

Make egg muffins with cheese and mushroom in, have 2-3 depending on your hunger.

Ponoka7 · 30/11/2019 12:01

Do you have a physical reason why you can't cook?

If not, bake ahead breakfast Muffins might also do.

I cook just for me and do a base of mushrooms and spinach, then a rasher of bacon and an egg.

You don't have to eat just breakfast foods before midday. Cooked chicken etc can be eaten. So could a pasta/rice dish.

Verily1 · 30/11/2019 12:05

Porridge

Tattoosandmemories · 30/11/2019 12:06

Hot, savoury, low salt, high protein, quick to cook brekkie

This is a perfect description of porridge...

Tattoosandmemories · 30/11/2019 12:07

Whoops! X post

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/11/2019 12:07

Moma porridge pots.

HelloAgainYou · 30/11/2019 12:09

Look up Keto bread. Literally made in a mug in the microwave. I didn't like it because I don't like the taste of egg, but if you're okay with eggs then you can fill your boots!

Also live life bread from Waitrose is low carb and delicious!

tealandteal · 30/11/2019 12:10

What is a big omlette? I usually make a 2 egg one and it takes hardly any time? You could also make egg "muffins" and freeze them, defrost as required. You seem to have described porridge in your OP though.

PullingMySocksUp · 30/11/2019 12:13

Cheese ham and bread isn’t low salt.

I’d say scrambled eggs or an omlette. A small omlette?

AllergicToAMop · 30/11/2019 12:15

Absolutely! I brunched on chicken rice number of times. Whatever the stomach fancies

ISawyouinTescoyesterday · 30/11/2019 12:31

Thanks everyone I fancy an omelette now 😋. Hope it's inspired you too op

Brimful · 30/11/2019 12:51

Another vote for porridge! Oats with unsweetened almond milk, takes 2 minutes.

I put cacao powder, chai seeds, blueberries and a half-spoon of almond butter in it too, it's amazing and fills you up for hours.

spacepyramid · 30/11/2019 12:52

Scrambled eggs.

Alrighteo · 30/11/2019 13:51

@Keepthebloodynoisedown Do you have a link to a recipe for muffin tinned omelettes or should I just google same?

I haven't eaten porridge ever in my life nor do I intend to. My mother tried it out on me once when I was about 5. I vomited it straight back up and it has never been tried since. Porridge doesn't have protein. Plus it's not savoury really. It's a cereal.

Staysexyanddontgetmurdered · 30/11/2019 14:00

What about peanut butter porridge? Protein, savoury and quick. It doesn't really taste the same as normal porridge.
