Seen lots of mentions on here of people saying they clean bathrooms/kitchens every day and hoover all the floors. Several people saying that they don’t have time to go out because they are busy keeping the house clean after work etc.
I’m feeling like a right mucky cow now! I wipe the kitchen down after I’ve cooked and put a bit of bleach in the loos each morning but the rest gets done once a week (usually!)
DH hoovers once a week while I’m out with my friend and we go out most nights as we run choirs/drama groups.
Am in in the minority here?

Honestly not enough probably. I am too tired to clean after work but I shove dishwasher, washer and dryer on as required and hoover twice a week. Dd 16 is very tidy and ds 12 is the opposite. I only have Sundays off as I own a cafe. I rarely cook so the kitchen is very tidy. The Dcs get food cooked from work which I bring home. I do try to do a bit on Sundays but I will not waste my day off cleaning the bloody house!

Lololololola · 29/11/2019 23:04

My house will not be closed down by environmental health. I ensure it is sufficiently clean that if a friend needed to use my upstairs loo, I would not race up before her and that if I make a coffee, I dont need to find kettle, clean cups or a clean surface on which to place either. Would it win awards? No. Does it poison people? No. And who looks under my sofa or down the side of my washing machine anyway???

TARSCOUT · 29/11/2019 23:08

Clean.workrops after use, clean toilet seat and bowl daily..damp dust weekly, mop floors 2-3 times a week. New bedding weekly, towels used twice (me), once (dp)..Hoover weekly (hate it).

Grandmi · 29/11/2019 23:18

Kitchen surfaces every day ,hoover lounge every few days ,use a wipe for the bathroom when it looks manky. Floors in kitchen and hallway are swept every day!!Boys rooms are ignored until they cannot stand the mess and bacteria...I do just generally ignore their rooms in principle!!Daughter temp room immaculate..she has high standards 😉

Whyareyouallcallingmemum · 29/11/2019 23:20

You're not the only one.

I vacuum everyday and wipe/clean bathroom and kitchen. 6 people in the house make for messy loos and dirty kitchen floors.

But I dont go out to work so have the time. And anyway I didn't clean I'd be drinking gin too early in the day.

midnightmisssuki · 29/11/2019 23:21

I have to hoover daily - I have two dogs.

Onepuddingisneverenough · 29/11/2019 23:24

I clean daily. I hoover, mop, wipe bathrooms down, clean dining table and chairs (glass) after meal times
Change towels and my bedding twice a week
Things like skirting boards, door frames, mirrors, windows , bathroom tiles , kids beds weekly
Inside the Oven and inside cupboards every 3-4 weeks
I do enjoy cleaning though to be fair

weegiemum · 29/11/2019 23:25

I wipe down kitchen/clean sink daily after cooking dinner. Children clear table, put dishes in dishwasher, empty or load it as required.

I scrub a toilet if it looks/smells like it needs it.

Dh sweeps floors (I'm disabled and too unsteady on my feet to do so) when required.

Cleaner for 2 hours on a Friday afternoon does all bathrooms, kitchen, hoovers and mops the downstairs hard floors, hoovers stairs and bedrooms.

I try to keep what I do to a minimum!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 29/11/2019 23:36

Clean downstairs daily, bedrooms and bathroom twice a week. Hoover and mop every other day unless needed more.

I hate mess and dirt and doing it frequently means it doesn’t take long whatsoever and I can relax better when no mess. I never worry about unexpected guests popping over.

recycledbottle · 29/11/2019 23:38

Other than dishes, general tidy, clean down of worktops we do other cleaning once per week. We both work ft so not in the house enough to dirty it tbh.

IdblowJonSnow · 29/11/2019 23:42

Proper clean once a week, kitchen and floors downstairs every other day.

Peoplearemiserable · 29/11/2019 23:44

I’m at home with toddler DS all day and I do a full clean once per week. Hoover every other day and mop every 3/4 days. We live on a yard and I have an elderly dog that has to go out for a wee every 5 minutes. I wipe his feet when he comes in but the floor still gets gross. Add toddler crumbs on top of that it gets in a state quite quickly! I’d be more lax about it if we didn’t have DH’s customers potentially dropping in any time. Other than than, quick wipe down of the bathroom every 3 days and wipe the kitchen down every day. I could do far more cleaning but I’d much rather be playing with my DS.

Peoplearemiserable · 29/11/2019 23:45

Im always tidying as I go though... and sheets/towels are changed weekly.

Glitterblue · 29/11/2019 23:47

Once a week for a proper clean, daily for little bits and pieces. This morning for example, I made the beds, unloaded the dishwasher and reloaded it with the breakfast dishes, wiped the kitchen down, wiped round the bathroom, put bleach in the toilet, put a wash on and hoovered (we have a cordless one so it's quick and easy) and it took me less than half an hour to do all that. I do that every morning, and in the evenings DH clears the table and does the dishwasher then he does a quick swoop round before bed to make sure everything is tidy, and DD has to bring all washing from all bedrooms to the central laundry basket every evening and before bed she has to make sure her room is tidy so if we all stick to that, and whenever someone uses the bath or shower we have to leave it tidy, put any bottles away etc and that keeps everything ticking over nicely till the big cleaning day comes roumd again.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2019 23:47

When I get round to it.

Tigger001 · 29/11/2019 23:49

Once a week is pretty typical I think other than the general wiping of messy worktops and daily tidying around.

I have better ways for me to spend my time

I do have a friend whose house is always immaculate, I wonder how she does it with a 20 month old, she is very organised and he sleeps for about 2hrs a day, so she just cleans when he sleeps.

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 29/11/2019 23:50

Cleaner once a week.
Wipe down kitchen surfaces and table every night. (Very occasionally forget but not often!)
Hoover downstairs in between the cleaner once a week, not always
General tidy up every day

thaegumathteth · 29/11/2019 23:52

Bathroom and downstairs loo get wiped and quick clean every morning.

Kitchen gets cleaned every day but not to extremes!

Sweep up downstairs once a day but have 2 kids and a dog and 2 cats so it needs it.

Try and do everything else as and when - I try and fit in one bigger job a day like cleaning the fridge out or dusting or whatever but I work from home so during term time it's fairly easy to fit that in.

sacred92 · 30/11/2019 00:08

I clean everyday, Like deep clean lmao. My OCD husband has turned me like this but I don't mind, it's not a bad habit to have ;)

Brigante9 · 30/11/2019 00:12

I get out the cordless vacuum when the dog fluff gets too much, before cordless, I was disgraceful. We’re still mid-kitchen renovations (shoot me now) but despite the floor being replaced next week, I’m still vacuuming in there. I fear we’d be eating dog hair sprinkled food otherwise. #nomealiscompletewithoutadoghair

ClientListQueen · 30/11/2019 00:15

Like @Lololololola said
I would let people in happily. There might be the odd cobweb in a high corner or a trace of dust
There's only me, and I clean mess up as I make it so I don't really clean day to day. Hoover as needed, clean toilets as needed, wipe sinks when they're messy...

blubelle7 · 30/11/2019 02:09

-Wipe down surfaces as I go
-Clean kitchen every night and mop floors
-Clean bathrooms every morning and mop floors
-Hoover, dust and polish every day
-laundry daily, iron 3-4 times a week
-Change bedding at least once a week, or after each time we did
-Thorough clean of whole house weekly
-Deep clean monthly
-Cleaner comes in twice a week to do the stuff I dont have time to do

SoleBizzz · 30/11/2019 02:14

Hardly anything until it is a shit hole then do whole house. I have to do it his weekend. Hours and hours of boring work

justfornowiguess · 30/11/2019 03:19

When it looks so awful I can't relax in it. I'd rather spend my time on other things, and use the money I could pay to a cleaner on a holiday. I'm pretty sure I won't regret that approach on my death bed.

Lovemenorca · 30/11/2019 03:27

One adult two children
Cleaner for 4 hours a week

I do a thorough kitchen clean every night (love coming in in each morning and seeing it sparkling) - floor, surfaces, hob, sink etc

Vacuum every other day

Light bathroom wipe down 1x week (cleaner does deep clean 1x week)
