To ask if anyone is voting for the GREEN PARTY, in the upcoming General Election?

MistyCloud · 29/11/2019 20:47

Just that really.........

I see some posters say they are voting Conservative, some saying they are voting Labour, and some saying none of those two, (and will probably vote Lib-Dem rather than for Conservative or Labour.)

But I have seen no-one yet saying they are voting Green. (Maybe someone has, but I just haven't seen it.) Blush

Is anyone going to be voting for the Green Party? Vote YANBU for YES and YABU for No.

Thanks for taking part Smile

Who is Amy Challoner and why should that be putting us off ?

I got 'Green' when I did the 'who should I vote for?' test.

BuggerFlip · 30/11/2019 00:03

Yes have never voted anything else. My husband votes green too.

If only in my area we have 2 options tories or labour.

MistyCloud · 30/11/2019 00:09

@Camomila

Ooooh, that sounds interesting. Grin Loads of Green voters.

I wonder if they'll get a few more seats?

It's a hard no from me. They are referred to in this household as the Misogynist Party.

Cherrysoup · 30/11/2019 00:15

You may as well spoil your ballot. A worthy idea, but as a pp mentioned, bonkers policies and they’ll never get in, so don’t bother.

Aroundnabout1 · 30/11/2019 00:28

I like the greens but its a waste of a vote as they have no chance. Best to tactically vote to keep the Tories out.

FlibbertyGiblets · 30/11/2019 00:31

No.

Non men.
Aimee Challenor.

Nuff said.

70sWitch · 30/11/2019 00:50

For those saying they've not heard of Aimee Challenor may I recommend Google. I should add a trigger warning here as it's shocking and involves a child rape. (Not by Aimee).
The Green Party evidently saw no problem with this situation until the shit hit the fan. And even then they didn't address it satisfactory imo.

Faez · 30/11/2019 00:53

Aimee challenor

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 30/11/2019 02:24

Ok, I didn't know about Aimee Challenor so I googled. I think I'm more comfortable voting for a Green party without AC in it than I would've been had AC remained. I see AC has now annoyed the Lib Dems? Not sure what more the Green party should've done. Looks like they acted when the matter came to light?

sobeyondthehills · 30/11/2019 02:29

I am split between Greens and Lib Dems, I like the Green's policies but am put off with how much they are borrowing.

Not so keen on the Lib Dems but the local candidate is actually really good.

It doesn't matter who I vote for, as its one of the safest Tory seats in the country

lljkk · 30/11/2019 04:25

Whole MN thread here about AC (who I had never heard of before). Long ejected from Green Party.

Multiple SN, spells in care, even now just 22yo. "deeply troubled" is a fair assessment.

I would seriously consider vote Green if they were standing here, not gonna blame the whole party for 1 rogue member.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 30/11/2019 04:55

@CharlotteCollinsneeLucas This was the sum total of the Green party's response to finding out one of their officials had knowingly hired an election agent on trial (and later convicted) for torturing and raping a child. Read it and then tell me again whether you think "they acted when the matter came to light"*: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/aug/30/look-future-aimee-challenor-trans-green-party-caroline-lucas

*And they didn't by the way. They acted only when the news could no longer be suppressed and continue to take any responsibility for their inaction and contribution to the destruction of safeguarding to this day.

RicePuffs · 30/11/2019 05:02

My main priority is to stop Conservatives getting a majority. Cons will offer little to deal with the climate crisis. I will vote tactically and in the long term support getting rid of our first past the post system

longwayoff · 30/11/2019 05:06

No.I vote Green in Euro elections where the vote counts but in UK it's pointless.

ForalltheSaints · 30/11/2019 06:39

I will be. I am in a seat with a likely large Tory majority, cannot vote Labour because of the lack of action over anti-semitism, nor the Lib Dems given the policy of revocation of article 50 without a referendum.

FreyaMountstuart · 30/11/2019 06:45

My priority is a remain anti-Tory vote so I will be voting labour - but I did vote green in the May EP elections (for the same reason).

RuffleCrow · 30/11/2019 07:35

I was a Green Party member when Aimee Challenor first came to power (I mean that literally). I was part of a Green Women discussion forum and i attempted to start a debate on the Nordic model (as opposed to full support for legalisation of men who think they can buy the right to women's bodies) but the forum moderator allowed Aimee to completely shout me down and silence me. The way Aimee was allowed to essentially dominate and control the party on all issues related to women and children is in hindsight absolutely chilling given what Aimee's father (who helped write many of the policies in this area) had been charged with.

In my opinion, this is less about the Challenor's and more about how the party operates internally more generally. Let's not forget they also have a former deputy leader who quit his job in teaching after sexual assault allegations were made against him (and then became deputy leader!) If you think the Challenors were a one off - think again. SadAngry

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 30/11/2019 14:54

@ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen Oh dear, that's really not impressive. CL is great on green issues, but TWAW? No.

Might have to look at Lib Dems again. Although that's the party that took AC on when she left the Greens, isn't it? It's all so bleak.

I like the Green's environment policies. They sound a bit drastic, but less mad than the world is today suffering under climate change.

MistyCloud · 30/11/2019 20:40

Thanks for voting folks.

Weirdly, no matter how many vote, it's staying at one third voting for the Greens, and two thirds NOT. Smile

Thanks again!

Never. They think men can be women. Fuck them.
