Are there a disproportionate amount of Scots on MN?

AIBU in thinking there is a disproportionately large amount of Scots on MN? Before I continue, there is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this, just an observation.

I very often see on the "what are you doing today" threads posted on a Sunday that they are going to the supermarket at 9am... where England and Wales don't have extended Sunday trading hours. Or lots of "I'll be voting SNP at the general election".

Anyone else noticed this? I wonder what the percentage of active users are English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and others?

Maybe we should use the Scottish emojis on every thread so posters know we're Scottish and stop themselves from asking why we're on holiday/going to the supermarket at odd hours, etc Smile

prettybird · 02/12/2019 00:04

I can remember how to do Xmas Smile (by adding an f in front of the smile between the [ ] ) - but I've forgotten how to do the Scottish one. Blush

nononever · 02/12/2019 07:03

Ooh love the Wee Jimmy emojis Grin

I hope none of you in the central belt are affected by the gas supply problem www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-50613678

IfWishesWereFishes · 02/12/2019 08:26

How do you do the Scottish emojis? I'd forgotten all about them!

Willow2017 · 02/12/2019 09:45

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 09:51

Anyone born in Raigmore (Inverness)? I was a midwife there.

Now living in the middle o' nowhere, Argyll (and Bute).

But no' actually on Bute.

AnneKipanki · 02/12/2019 10:01

I started a thread recently about emojis and someone used it .

What you do is [ followed by tbgrin , then ] . That should give you the grinning Wee Jeemy. If you do tb followed by the other words you get the other thingsBlush

Part Scottish, living in Scotland. Yes, the alcohol stuff is a pain, we pay more here, alcohol is excluded from any offers, coupons etc - eg Sainsburys, Lidl etc give vouchers but it always says 'EXCLUDES ALCOHOL IN SCOTLAND'. We usually buy booze on a trip across the border to England, but if Scotland gained independence we'd be smugglers!

nononever · 02/12/2019 10:29

We'll set aboot ye

Aye, ever grateful John Smeaton decided to have a fly fag on that shocking day back in 2007!

AnneKipanki · 02/12/2019 10:45

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 11:04

@catzrulz

DH and I had to take our car all the way to Bute for its service.

In total we took four ferries and drove ninety three miles.

I had several ice creams at Zavaroni's though so it was worth it

nononever · 02/12/2019 11:15

Tb=tartan bunnet?

AnneKipanki · 02/12/2019 12:25
