Are there a disproportionate amount of Scots on MN?

AIBU in thinking there is a disproportionately large amount of Scots on MN? Before I continue, there is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this, just an observation.

I very often see on the "what are you doing today" threads posted on a Sunday that they are going to the supermarket at 9am... where England and Wales don't have extended Sunday trading hours. Or lots of "I'll be voting SNP at the general election".

Anyone else noticed this? I wonder what the percentage of active users are English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and others?

@toomuchtooold That's Kevin McKidd from Gray's Anatomy and he said that he used an exaggerated version of his own teenage accent! 😁

Glasgow. I get the 267 bus and was born in Rutherglen maternity. Love this thread!

juls1888 · 28/11/2019 22:01

🐴🐴 home of the Kelpies for me.....Hiya!

nononever · 28/11/2019 22:05

Been away from Aberdeenshire for many years but still love some chat about the wonder of the bypass.

I absolutely bloody love the new bypass!

Doboopedoo · 28/11/2019 22:20

The bypass is a thing of wonder!
Waves back over the watter @TooManyPaws

Having said that about the Kelpies....are they in Falkirk or Grangemouth?.

emummy · 28/11/2019 22:38

We love the bypass, Dh can go on for hours about the difference it’s made to his commute!
I’m from polomint city, born in Queen Mothers, now in Aberdeenshire via Edinburgh & Devon. Loved being able to understand young McGuffin; we watched in Aberdeen & the whole cinema was like, well that made perfect sense to us!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 28/11/2019 22:40

ooh i love that new bypass, the AWPR (what ever that stands for!!) means I can be in Costco in forty minutes, instead of it taking all bloody day via the back of Stoney, Netherley Road, bloody Maryculter, and christknows where else!

@doboopedoo...Kelpies are Falkirk, not that far from the wheel, I have been to the both on a boat...it's AMAZING!

emummy · 28/11/2019 22:42

Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route I think - bypass works better! My favourite bit is the rope bridge for the squirrels!

myColoursareblushandbashful · 28/11/2019 22:57

Waves from East Lothian 👋

I was born in the Eastern General, and fondly remember my gran stringing my pawkies through my coat as I was a bugger for losing them Grin I still have an old pair that DS3 wears now

Grin hahaha Grin

mechanicalsneer · 28/11/2019 23:54

@Redglitter my mum was born in Robroyston Hospital! I was born in Stobhill when they still had a maternity unit.

TooManyPaws · 29/11/2019 00:43

My dad was a teenager when Anderson Drive was the bypass and Foresterhill was on the city outskirts! 😁

Talking about Foresterhill, Edward VIII was supposed to be be opening it but he said he was ill and got his brother to do it instead, then got papped at the Joint Station picking up Mrs Simpson! 😁

nononever · 29/11/2019 08:14

@ssd hilarious 😂🤣

nononever · 29/11/2019 08:16

Dh can go on for hours about the difference it’s made to his commute!

Mine insisted we go for a drive along it when it opened 'just to see it'. Cannot believe the difference it has made to the hellish Haudagain!

prettybird · 29/11/2019 08:53

I'm enjoying the new bypass too as ds is at Uni in Aberdeen. Now in his 2nd year so no longer at Hillhead Halls but still on the North side of the city centre so it's a very straightforward drive to him.

BluebellsareBlue · 29/11/2019 09:42

@ThatsMeInTheSpotlight I am embarrassed to say I haven't!! This sounds ridiculous but if it were in another city I'd have already made the effort to go yet I pass it a couple of times a week and think "ok we will go on sat", Saturday comes and life takes over.....

BluebellsareBlue · 29/11/2019 09:43

@IfWishesWereFishes 👋 right back atcha

supercee · 29/11/2019 10:30

@myColoursareblushandbashful (great username!) I was born in the Eastern General too 👋

IfWishesWereFishes · 29/11/2019 10:58

Such a beautiful day @BluebellsareBlue although I am getting my boiler fixed so no heating on and I'm frickin freezing 🥶

ThatsMeInTheSpotlight · 29/11/2019 14:01

Bluebells I lived in Dundee for 2 years with my first job when I graduated and I see photos now and think it all looks so different. I dread to think how much of my life I spent in Dundee train station Grin

IfWishesWereFishes · 29/11/2019 14:26

Ooh the station is brand new! It's soooo different from even five years ago.

ThatsMeInTheSpotlight · 29/11/2019 14:29

IfWishes I do wonder if I'd recognise any of Dundee now . . .possibly the circle I was so confused when I first moved because I'd never heard a roundabout called a circle before! near the university; the graveyard with the observatory . Oh, and Desperate Dan and Minnie the Minx.
