Am so relieved after reading the 'Who votes Conservative?" thread that no one I like is on it?

Was worried I'd see a name I knew and liked, being proud of voting Conservative.

But I seen no one!

The relief!!!

The only one I do know is Xenia and I like and respect her,

I’m sure she’ll be hugely relieved about that.

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:58

My friend votes tory and she was disgusted at losing her child benefit, as she didn't think of it as a benefit... Then she had to go on tax credits when her dh was made redundant and she still claimed it wasn't a benefit, not like the scroungers on ch5, oh no....

Why people think they're immune from ever needing help is beyond me. We all get old, sick, lose jobs, have family needing care.. We all need more empathy for others and less I'm alright Jack. We're all alright till we're not and that's when you find out the tories aren't there for you.

Bit sarky there soulrunner?!
I know Xenia wouldn't even open this thread to have a go at me, that's not her style.

Well.actually we are far from rich and I'm my severely disabled child,s carer so not in employment and out of two fairly abysmal main parties still think Conservative is marginally better

soulrunner · 26/11/2019 10:15

It just amused me that you allegedly hate all Tories apart from the most Tory Tory.

MaButterface · 26/11/2019 10:17

Still, if you're not poor, unemployed or disabled, who gives a shit?

What a broad generalisation fitting to the intelligence you display here, OP. And nobody gives a fuck whether you, a nobody online, likes them or not HTH. I am not even a Tory voter! Just sick of the bashing.

NameChangeNugget · 26/11/2019 10:20

Embarrassing post OP Biscuit

bellinisurge · 26/11/2019 10:22

"I'm not having a go at anyone," So funny, op.

Ringdonna · 26/11/2019 10:23

Tories are great, hopefully back inpower for years to come.

PigOnStilts · 26/11/2019 10:24

What a saddo.

busybarbara · 26/11/2019 10:26

I support the chief rabbi and the Archbishop of Canterbury rather than some yummy mummies who want to virtue signal Wink

nibdedibble · 26/11/2019 10:26

I agree with you about the Tories ssd.

It's a hard truth for some to take, that they are complicit by actively voting in favour of some the most chronically disadvantaged people, through no fault of their own, being left to die.

JacquesHammer · 26/11/2019 10:28

Look at all the nerves you've touched OP.

The "Tory safe space" thread really made me laugh given the Usual Tory Bores that pop up on any thread that might mention politics even in passing to Have Their Say Grin

(P.S totally agree, although I note the UTBs have popped up on here too!)

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 26/11/2019 10:29

Oh no does that mean you do not like me?!

Heartbroken Sad

Fuck off.

The biggest mistake the remain campaign undertook were the constant 'light hearted' jokes that to vote leave is to be racist. The blatant dismissal of people's concerns - even in jest - sent a clear message that no one was prepared to listen or talk through those concerns. Thus many people who were on the fence voted leave because it didn't seem to them like they had a voice if we stayed.

I cannot forgive any of the remainers who did this and effectively threw away the result they said they wanted.

You are doing the same here with Tory voters. By sending this message that to vote Tory makes you automatically bad you are shutting down dialogue and helping sway the election against what you appear to want.

The world and Britain especially does not need any more dumming down of politics to a simple them and us. We are already in too toxic a situation already.

Usernumbers1234 · 26/11/2019 10:37

@ssd

Yay, go you you virtuous little wonder.

FYI, loads of people lie about this stuff. A decent proportion of people you “like” that are saying they would vote labour and never vote Tory are lying. Heck even I’ve done it and I’ve voted tory in every election ever.

Yet the Tories are a 95% favourite to win the election with the bookmakers. Rest assured a lot of your friends irl and online will be putting their X in the tory box. They just won’t tell you because, as this thread proves, you are the sort of person that rants and raves about this stuff to make it seem like you are a wonderful virtuous person, but you probably aren’t behind closed doors, it’s just the public image you care about.

Cheesecake53 · 26/11/2019 10:39

I felt exactly the same, OP!

nibdedibble · 26/11/2019 10:40

A genuine question Faces

What is making you think the Tories are interested in or capable of addressing the concerns of the people you describe? All I can see is a party that lies endlessly and publicly, that's populated by people with zero interest in anything but staying in politics for its own sake, or making money (JRM for example) or leaving a massive number of people without the means to pull their own socks up.

(I know they all lie, I am not party affiliated, they are all utter c@@ts as far as I can see, but the Tories are actively the worst at organising a society so that everyone gets a bit of progress.)

PineappleDanish · 26/11/2019 10:43

Aren't you just such an AMAZING person?

Hmm
FacesLookUgly · 26/11/2019 10:46

I don't think that - I personally don't agree with many Tory policies and so will not be voting for them. Which of the other idiots I will vote for remains to be seen.

I just don't think insulting Tory voters is going to get politics in this country to a better spot and is likely to backfire terribly. We are already far too divided with sounds that will take decades to heal. Let's not make it worse.

FacesLookUgly · 26/11/2019 10:46

With wounds (not sounds!)

nibdedibble · 26/11/2019 10:48

Fair enough. It is so easy though Wink

Chuchyduck · 26/11/2019 10:53

I was thinking about voting green this time, but i’m definitely voting conservative now. thanks so much for helping me make my mind up, I’m so relieved.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/11/2019 10:57

So because I work for in mental health (NHS) and vote for left wing parties (just not Labour under for Corbyn/Momentum) I am a better person

Is that all it takes
