Am so relieved after reading the 'Who votes Conservative?" thread that no one I like is on it?

Was worried I'd see a name I knew and liked, being proud of voting Conservative.

But I seen no one!

The relief!!!

Yanbu to think that but you probably are being a bit unreasonable to start a thread about thinking that... it's not going to go down well!

I know what you mean though... I'm friends with someone who loves ukip... shes an absolutely lovely person and is really kind so I cant work it out... it makes me really sad to think about... we just avoid the subject now after having the sane argument over and over... it DOES hurt to know someone you think highly of could have this weird train of thought that takes them to believing in an ideology you find repulsive

SpoonBlender · 25/11/2019 23:24

Nice to see the confirmatory notes that not voting Tory is virtuous, anyway.

curlykaren · 25/11/2019 23:27

I'm with you OP if I have to read any more of that pearl clutching, 'Jeremy Corbyn is dangerous, dangerous I tell thee' guff, I may go blind. It's great they've all gathered on one thread so the rest of us are spared the bullshit.
And clearly you needed to do the lighthearted in the title as no one recognises irony any more.

Lumene · 25/11/2019 23:27

YABU to implicitly label someone as ‘bad’ for voting for their choice of the wretched bag of badgers on offer as candidates in the election.

It’s not like there’s even any option that’s a choice to be proud of...

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 25/11/2019 23:28

I feel bad now 😳 I'm not good at remembering usernames so tend not to recall who said what.
Sorry everyone who's seen me about and likes me, I like you all too!!

MistyCloud · 25/11/2019 23:28

I don't think the thread has gone the way the OP was hoping. Blush

stophuggingme · 25/11/2019 23:28

Settles down with a pot of tea to watch the carnage unfold

Iggii · 25/11/2019 23:30

Think it, don't say it

MaButterface · 26/11/2019 08:58

Wow you are tragic OP.

Idiots like you shouldn't be given a vote at all.

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:22

Haha, if despising Boris and the tories is tragic, you're spot on.

bellinisurge · 26/11/2019 09:26

Do you have a list? Because that kind of attitude always goes well.

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:27
Grin No list unfortunately.

SilverySurfer · 26/11/2019 09:28

Pathetic. I think this covers it:

Am so relieved after reading the 'Who votes Conservative?" thread that no one I like is on it?
JumpyLiz · 26/11/2019 09:32

Think you’ve touched a nerve or two OP Grin

bellinisurge · 26/11/2019 09:33

People don't like being "put on a list" @JumpyLiz . Or are you in favour of that too?

x2boys · 26/11/2019 09:36

I'm sure they will.all be devastated to hear that, I think both main parties are a,shambles at the moment but think conservatives are marginally better all this Tories are evil and Labour are the saviour of the poor and Disabled etc is pathetic though .

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/11/2019 09:39

So all those that work within the NHS/police/education/firefighters/service men and women (as these people are more often than not held in high regard within our society) and charity workers that put in hours of work for free and often really care about their work are nasty because they vote Tory

There is so much virtual signaling from many lefties that do nothing else but that

But carry on and pat yourself on the back

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:40

I don't remember reading that Labour are saviours of the poor anywhere, but I think most people accept the lives of poorer people will certainly not improve under another tory government.
Still, if you're not poor, unemployed or disabled, who gives a shit?

OP posts:
woolie34 · 26/11/2019 09:40

Not at all. I think if tory voters thought they were doing the right thing they wouldn't get so defensive and abusive when they talk to a Labour voter. I don't feel the need to constantly defend my position and say "but I'm not horrible". If someone wants to have a go at me, if it makes them feel better, then that's fine with me. Also had a few "virtue signalling from the tory bingo already 😂 that's my favourite one!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 26/11/2019 09:43

There are people proud to be conservative? Let's hope they never need te NHS, schools, become old, ill, need benefits, have mental health problems, have a mortgage to pay........

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:49

I'm not having a go at anyone, I'm just relieved I don't recognise anyone on the who votes tory threads, when I scanned through it (well the first pages, there's a hell of a lot of you here) I genuinely thought, oh please don't let X Y or Z be on it and thankfully they weren't.

OP posts:
MrsMaiselsMuff · 26/11/2019 09:50

There's a rabid Tory voter around these parts who recently got upset because her NHS care was being cut. I sympathise with anyone who is struggling with their health as I do myself, but really had to bite my tongue at her disbelief at the state of the NHS. I guess we can just be thankful that she's not one of the 120,000 who have died as a result of austerity.

ssd · 26/11/2019 09:52

The only one I do know is Xenia and I like and respect her, she's never been anything other than straightforward here and I like that, even if I disagree with some of the things she says.

OP posts:
EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/11/2019 09:55

Oh please it’s virtual signaling at its worse

Do you know these people personally? do you know their back ground, the work they do, their situation?

No it’s no Tories are nice

RosiePosiePuddle · 26/11/2019 09:58

In a way I sort of agree with the OP. I do think about people differently if they say they vote Tory.

The Tory party has changed radically. In my humble opinion, it used to be a party of wankers, but I could sort of understand the "take personal responsibility" and "minimise the state in people's lives" from some Tory voters. But after the last 10 years, and the shit they are pulling now, there has been such a swerve to right. I genuinely can not respect or have shared values with people who choose to support them. This is not a government that wants to improve the country or the lives of the majority of people in it.
