on George Clarke's Old House, New House.

In their lounge they have an electronic keyboard - "The piano", a pair cheap metal bookcase "The library" a photographic umbrella leaning against the wall which is the 'photographic studio'

"I can't watch George Clarke. He always sounds like he's about to burst into tears and I'm sure his eyes are brimming over when they do the reveal. He really gets in my nerves."
What she said ^^

WeeDangerousSpike · 21/11/2019 16:20

His pronunciation is ridiculous, and clearly put on. He drops letters all over the place but then says the same word perfectly normally two sentences later.

And he looks like he's wearing eyeliner.

CatInTheDaytime · 21/11/2019 16:21

ToeNail :o don't waste your mental energy, think about better men naked! You could start with Kevin.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 21/11/2019 16:23

I'm so upset at Phil being a hunter (big or small game makes no difference to me).

user1471510720 · 21/11/2019 16:24

I’m happy with George being called ‘Mediocre white man ‘ as long as Holly Willoughby is ‘mediocre white woman’.

Pipandmum · 21/11/2019 16:26

Kevin is extremely patronising. Charlie is great and a friend was on his show and said he was as lovely in real life as on TV.

MikeUniformMike · 21/11/2019 16:27

I like George Clarke, Phil Spencer, and Kevin McCloud.

I suspect that KMcC and I have similar tastes. I don't like big windows, bifold doors, open plan or kitchen islands.

Not watched tv recently, but GC did start annoying me on some programme by saying Happy days a lot.

beachcomber70 · 21/11/2019 16:29

I'm glad others have picked up on the sleazy innuendo's that Phil Spencer puts into his programme accompanied by dozy grins and giggles. The opposite of macho. How Kirsty puts up with him I don't know.
George is just smug too pleased with himself recently, It's gone to his head.

PennyBryn · 21/11/2019 16:30

Urgh. George. He sounds like he needs to do his asthma inhaler! COUGH MAN OR DO YOUR FLIPPIN’ VENTOLIN!!!!

Kevin on the other hand. Kevin. Deep sigh

Did anyone see his Grand Tour series? It was fantastic, I had never been impressed by anyone speaking French or Italian till those shows.

My only weeny Kev Complaint is how he constantly flicks his eyes down the person he’s speaking to. You could accuse him of looking at ladies boobies but he does it to the fellas too

AdobeWanKenobi · 21/11/2019 16:30

Can I throw a curve ball in the form of Robert Jamison from Your Home Made Perfect.
Never has such batshittery made the TV. He actually wanted to build a hill, with a temple like structure on top of it, in the back garden of a terrace in Shrewsbury.

PineappleDanish · 21/11/2019 16:32

Kevin McCloud is the absolute worst with his wanky voiceovers.

"Janet and Fred have striven for many years, through frost and sunshine, to convert their oh-so-ordinary cow shed into a 21st century eco home, resplendent in handforged limestone walls, Greco-Roman inspired columns made from mermaid tears, and a roof thatched with organic reeds which Janet grew herself in her cottage garden adjacent to the rear aspect of their outstanding, unique construction. It chimes in perfectly with the local vernacular yet still has aspects of industrial blah blah blah "

Notreallyawaitress · 21/11/2019 16:33

I hear him say maaaaaster bedroom and imagine him maaaaasterbating 🤮
What about Piers Taylor from 100k House etc? He seems nice Wink

daisypond · 21/11/2019 16:37

I really like Kevin McCloud. The show structure is formulaic now but I still watch it because of the often bonkers couples.

Ladybirdman · 21/11/2019 16:37

Oh Penny I'm glad I'm not the only one. I cannot watch Kevin McCloud because of that eye flick (or slow crawl). You can keep the rest of them too.

Give me Dick Strawbridge any day. His ability and confidence to do the work, not just talk about it, makes me weak at the knees.

W0rriedMum · 21/11/2019 16:37

I like him.
But the flirting with contestants has us in fits here.
@Boxofchocolatefrogs do they have to pay for the architects etc.?
Someone I know was on the Sarah Beany one years ago and they only got discounts but no freebie. It's only worth doing if a) you're dying to be on TV or b) they want to promote a business.

PennyBryn · 21/11/2019 16:41

@ladybirdman that’s it! It’s a slow crawl 😂

DogAndCatPerson · 21/11/2019 16:43

I still love Grand Designs, I am perturbed by Kev’s lip licking tic though.

I agree re George Clarke. Nothing groundbreaking design wise and his presenting style gives me the creeps.

daisypond · 21/11/2019 16:45

The worst one is the Piers Taylor and Caroline Quentin one, World’s Most Extraordinary Homes. That drags.

Blackforesthotchoc · 21/11/2019 16:46

I detest George Clarke- he always says everything is lovely, at least Kevin mccloud is occasionally critical, which means you take his opinions more seriously i think when he does say something looks good. I was also amazed throughout the whole number of series of ugly house to lovely house that no one withdrew or sue the producers -some of the overspend were bloody enormous and GC always seemed to brush over it!

sniffingthewax · 21/11/2019 16:46

GC said on that council house show that he was passionate about banning the right to buy scheme, but only after his mum and sister bought their council houses Hmm

feelinghelplesstoday · 21/11/2019 16:46

Sorry I love George, Kevin and Phil ❤️

astralweaks · 21/11/2019 16:46

a symbol of how far mediocre white men can get.

??

SoupDragon · 21/11/2019 16:49

I'm not sure what relevance his skin colour has either.

astralweaks · 21/11/2019 16:50

I suspect that KMcC and I have similar tastes. I don't like big windows, bifold doors, open plan or kitchen islands.

I suppose that is a good reason to like him. Seriously. He prefers some originality.

CatInTheDaytime · 21/11/2019 16:51

See Pineapple that's my favourite bit! I love finding out what poncy thoughts he's cobbled together for his statement at the end - especially when he clearly hates it and thinks they're mad. There was one where they had built this fairly nice house then stuck a weird octagonal room on top somewhere, despite Kev's efforts to put them off. His summing-up went on about them sticking to their creative vision or something while he did lots of eyebrow-raising.
