Oh dear.
I suppose that's advancing age and being female and three kids for you
😩

A year or too ago i had a stomach bug and was sitting on the toilet when i needed to vomit, thankfully the sink was right beside the toilet.

Unfortunately the experience made me pass out and crack my head open on the tiled floor when i fell off the toilet! Thankfully it didn't need stitched but it wasn't much fun cleaning myself up!

QueenOfOversharing · 20/11/2019 23:01

I never even had a vaginal delivery!!!! Still ended up with a fanny like a leaky bucket.

Check out Gussie gusset website.

@QueenOfOversharing

Noooo! But you do have children? Gosh, I just assumed these problems were caused by popping them out.

DowntonCrabby · 20/11/2019 23:08

@StoneofDestiny Grin

I do this too ladies when I (thankfully very rarely) vomit or have a sneezing fit.

We don’t habe to accept this. Sad French women have vaginal laser treatment post partim as standard.

Now obviously the NHS is falling out it’s own pelvic floor but offering this type of (maybe only subsidised/partly funded) treatment would prevent a future generations of pelvic floor repairs.

I haven’t looked into it seriously but would certainly be happy to pay towards treatment now my family (10&11lb babies!) is complete.

DowntonCrabby · 20/11/2019 23:09

*partum and many more corrections!

LucaFritz · 20/11/2019 23:11

I did this at the start of my pregnancy i didn't even realize I'd wet myself till after I'd finished throwing up! Now i just pee when i sneeze Hmm the joys of having children i guess

SheepGoesBaa · 20/11/2019 23:16

When I gave up smoking, I started to cough badly. It was unbelievable coughing fits. I would cough to the point of getting sick and wetting myself at the same time.

AuntyElle · 20/11/2019 23:20

Oh wow, QueenOfOversharing!! Poor DS, but the whole scenario has me laughing. I’ve actually also done it on a park bench (very early Sunday morning). Mine are totally booze-fuelled, not childbirth-induced. Confused

OrangeSwoosh · 20/11/2019 23:32

Those saying you don't have to put up with it, what do you mean exactly? My youngest is 10 and my pelvic floor is so weak. I thought it was too late as I hadn't done the exercises enough after childbirth.... Please tell me it is not too late!

There are physiotherapists who literally work just with pelvic floors! Ask your GP about a referral

Legoandloldolls · 20/11/2019 23:35

I have had this twice, the last two times I was sick. Both migraines. Its terrifying thinking I might be sick one day outside of the house now. No matter how much I peed before, during or after there was still buckets coming out. I felt like a sponge being wrung out! Not good.....

GiveHerHellFromUs · 20/11/2019 23:48

When I was pregnant I vomited and poo'd myself a couple of times. It was mortifying.

YourWinter · 21/11/2019 00:34

This something you need to discuss?

My pelvic floor is similarly weak. I'm seldom unwell enough to vomit but if I do, I grab a handful of tissue or a towel to stuff down there.

dontgobaconmyheart · 21/11/2019 02:25

Just felt the need to offer two points.

Lots of people who have never given birth or been pregnant suffer stress incontinence, bladder and bowel prolapse. I have a connective tissue disorder which causes my tissue to be hypermobile. Handily it also has done a number on my gastric system and oesophagus so unfortunately vomiting and incontinence are a normal part of life.

Secondly those who are suffering as a result of birth or pregnancy; go to your GP and ask to be referred to the specialist womens health physio, most hospitals have them. Guys and st thomas has an entire pelvic floor clinic so I'm sure there are others. There are a great deal of diagnostic and treatment options available that are not surgical. They can also help with painful intercourse post partum (or generally) the pelvic floor and vagina contain complex muscles, like any physio, these can be worked on.

KnowMenClature · 21/11/2019 02:43

Second the specialist nhs services.

I didn't realise there were different areas to exercise. I was given different sets of exercises and they really worked. Not just the floor but all the muscles.

It was a few years ago now, but I hadn't realised it existed, was so good. Look into it OP.

WingingIt101 · 21/11/2019 02:44

If it makes you feel better I had a terrible bout of norovirus recently which announced itself at 2am as I simultaneously, suddenly and unexpectedly vomited and pooed myself. I’ve never felt so humiliated - no control whatsoever! Currently pregnant and bloody terrified this is life post-baby!!

PrincessPain · 21/11/2019 03:00

🙋🏻‍♀️
I've done this. Before kids. On my honeymoon.
I'd picked up a terrible cough on the airplane, it was terrible, I was up all night coughing, I was coughing so much it was making me gag.
It was 10pm and we were in the hotel room, DH said it sounded like I was going to be sick with the coughing.
And then I coughed again and I could feel it, I ran to the bathroom, squatted down as it was the only thing I could do in seconds. I was sick, and peed everywhere! With every cough and heave more pee kept coming out.
Between the heaving and sobs I just kept shouting at DH to not come into the bathroom to help me.
It happens to the best of us.

ThighThighOfthigh · 21/11/2019 03:21

I had such terrible d&v once that i just stayed on the loo, angled so i could vom in the sink while the liquid shit vommed out of my bum

frostedviolets · 21/11/2019 04:38

Little update for everyone.

I'm really poorly Sad
I'm struggling to keep even water down.
DH has been getting me ice cubes, trying to have little sips of water is torturous as I feel dehydrated and want to swallow the whole mug. Which will obviously make me throw.

I don't normally leak on coughing, sneezing or laughing but my God, I had no idea that so much piss could actually be stored in my body! Or that my pelvic floor was clearly quite so weak...

It's been epic.
Pretty much every time I've vomited (a lot) I have pissed myself in shockingly large amounts.

I stink of piss, I'm too weak to try and bath/shower at the moment.
I can barely get myself out of the bed.

Oh and I woke up after very little sleep to a massive wet patch on the bed and me holding the cup of water.

That could be water 🤞, piss, vomit, who knows...

nononever · 21/11/2019 05:18

I did this on holiday, I was so bloody ill and couldn't stop peeing myself every time I vomited. Brought home how crap my pelvic floor muscles are and how much I need to try to sort them out!

Hope you all get well soon.

KitschBitch · 21/11/2019 06:52

Ahhh, OP, feel your pain/shame. I have also peed and pooed myself when vomiting, always alcohol induced though. Shock. I also have to hold onto my foof whenever I sneeze or blow off.....Blush

WhatAGreatDay · 21/11/2019 07:07

I also had three vaginal births and this used to happen to me. I completely fixed the problem with a pelvic floor exerciser. This one
www.tenscare.co.uk/continence/itouch-sure-pelvic-floor-exerciser

Within two weeks of starting regular use I was a changed woman. I don't have to go to the toilet so often. I can jump at my aerobics classes. I don't wet myself when I cough or sneeze like I used to.

You do not have to put up with this.

Happyandglorious · 21/11/2019 08:05

Get well soon to all the poorly posters and thanks for laughs everyone else. Sobbing reading some of these.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/11/2019 08:10

Gussie, the fanny physio, used to be on here. She's on twitter and insta now @gussiegrips, #gussetgrippers and doing reminders to do your exercises.

They help. I jumped the other day and din't worry.

Get well soon, OP, sounds grim right now, but, there is hope.

Scotsrule · 21/11/2019 08:11

There is an NHS app called Squeezy (costs about £3) that can help you with your pelvic floor and strengthen it back up again. I’ve started using it as I am also part of the sneeze and pee brigade 😩
