AIBU to be embarrassed by my bra size?

For the past few years I've been a 32 f. Unfortunately, my breasts have always been disproportionate to the rest of my body which makes shopping for clothes tricky (I'm also convinced big boobs has given me slight lordosis).

However, I've recently gained some weight (.5 stone) and I was shocked to discover I am now a 32 H! I had to give my measurements to a friend (for a bridesmaids dress) and I was so embarrassed. Not really sure why.

AIBU?

30HH and a 10/12 here and genuinely haven't ever struggled that badly to find clothes that fit properly. Obviously button down blouses are a pain but everything else is usually fine.

HeyMissyYouSoFine · 17/11/2019 18:29

I hate how some other women tell me I must be imagining the male gaze upon them and comments - or how despite being at a good weight and finding weight went onto boobs first and came of last - I should lose weight ie having big boobs was my own fault.

brastop has saved me a fortune over the years though.

nattygk · 17/11/2019 21:42

I'm naturally a 38GG and I'm getting used to them why be embarrassed by mother nature if you got it then flaunt it nothing to be embarrassed about 👍😀

Tistheseason17 · 17/11/2019 21:44

But it's the sneering from women that really hurts

I agree - most hurtful comments to me have come from women, not men.

Redyellowpink · 17/11/2019 21:49

You all have very small band sizes! Are you valculating with plus 4 inches or just as they are? Under my boobs measures 29inches and I wear a 34dd. Am I doing something wrong or just very wide ribbed?!

I've always got measured at the bra shop I've never measured myself but I know I'm at 28. If I went up there's no way I'd have enough support

Cryalot2 · 17/11/2019 22:02

34j bravissimo lady .
Thanks to the big ladies and crap genes I have the most appalling rash under them, which is spreading over them and under armpits. Diagnosis is a type of psoriasis which is refusing to be tteated. It bleeds, runs, is infected and painful.
This week I have thanks to them had to start awful medication. Only available from hospital pharmacy, the info sheets are dire.
So the mentioning the size is the least of my worries. I feel I have shown them to just about every medical person.
If I was young and attractive maybe it would be different, but am old and not so hot looking .
Keep the bravissimo app on your phone and treat your ladies to pretty styles

I bet if you went for a fitting at Bravissimo, you would come out with a 30H or something.

Using the plus four method, I was a 32E.

Redyellowpink · 17/11/2019 22:07

Nottonight that's good to hear! Sometimes I suspect I'm probably a smaller band size as my bras are really not supportive and i kind of slip out the bottom sometimes. But I hate it being tight and having back fat

DameSylvieKrin · 17/11/2019 22:09

Also a 32H and I find them ridiculous and cartoonish. If a reduction wasn’t such major surgery I‘d get rid of them without a second thought.

AllTheProsecco · 17/11/2019 22:13

30J here 😩

Back fat isn't fat, it's boob that should be in your cup! If you go down back sizes you need to go up a few cup sizes. The plus 4 method is very outdated and wearing a bra that is you actual measurement gives the best support.

purpleme12 · 17/11/2019 22:14

Yes I can believe people are wearing wrong sizes

One of my bras is quite old now. Overdue a new one. In my opinion a good fitting bra makes the world of difference to how you look and feel. A smaller back size will lift them up and makes my figure better just by doing that. I don't have the money to get a new one at the minute 🙁

Branleuse · 17/11/2019 22:23

To those that are adding 4, youre doing it the old fashioned way. Modern sizing doesnt work like that and you wont be getting support from the band

YANBU.

I'm 32E and I absolutely hate it. I would love to have a reduction; I'd adore to be an A or B cup.

I've never liked them, never will and massively resent the cost of bras.

Branleuse · 17/11/2019 22:32

@NotTonightJosepheen I must admit, i find debenhams are very erratic in sizing and i have bras in various sizes from there that fit the same. If you've found a bra style you get on with in a size you are comfortable and supported in, then thats fine isnt it.

Branleuse · 17/11/2019 22:45

Some brands are more standard. I can pretty much guarantee ill fit into my standard size in freya, fantasie, panache. M&s dont do my size, and debenhams I always have to try on as style to style can be completely different, although some of my comfiest bras have been from there, just not always in the size id expect

ThighThighOfthigh · 17/11/2019 23:10

Women who are on the shorter side may find the Elomi bandless bras more comfortable. If you're a G or less the Anita range of t-shirt bras are incredibly comfortable.

If you're a less stocked size ie 40b, 28k you can pick up leftover stock on eBay.

Number one though is go to a bra specialist and get your correct measurement.

I thought i was a 38dd but i was a 32 g.

BreconBeBuggered · 17/11/2019 23:18

I'm not really embarrassable any more. But I've always felt I don't identify as the large-breasted person people see. I hate the assumptions people make, and I'm sick to bloody death of ruddy back, neck and shoulder pain.

MorrisZapp · 17/11/2019 23:28

Anyone looking for bombshell style forward thrusting breasts needs to try Fantasie bras. They're absolutely beautiful and give proper support. They have seams at the side pushing you forwards.

I love them, wouldn't wear any other brand now. They're about forty quid in John Lewis etc but about twenty quid on ebay.

MorrisZapp · 17/11/2019 23:32

Used to be 34g, now 32f following weight loss.

Thatagain · 17/11/2019 23:33

Uabu as some women do not know there bra size as they are to embarrassed to get measured.

Thehagonthehill · 17/11/2019 23:37

I was above little b cup until 30 when they went to a d(didn't but weight on).
After DD I put on weight and went to a 36 H,I have lost 2 stone and still the same bra size.I have another stone to go and am so hoping they go down.
