AIBU to be embarrassed by my bra size?

babooshcar · 17/11/2019 15:16

For the past few years I've been a 32 f. Unfortunately, my breasts have always been disproportionate to the rest of my body which makes shopping for clothes tricky (I'm also convinced big boobs has given me slight lordosis).

However, I've recently gained some weight (.5 stone) and I was shocked to discover I am now a 32 H! I had to give my measurements to a friend (for a bridesmaids dress) and I was so embarrassed. Not really sure why.

AIBU?

Another size 6 F cup here, I think they’re brilliant! Although agree it’s quite often assumed by people I don’t know that they’re fake.

babooshcar · 17/11/2019 16:33

I don't LOVE the Bravissimo bra I bought, it's just decent enough to do the job. I feel like all the bras I was given to try on made my boobs look bigger and overly round like actual bowling balls.

As soon as I accepted them and realised I could get what I wanted from men with a fitted top my confidence blossomed!

Seriously wtf?

YabaDabaBoo · 17/11/2019 16:38

I’m a 32G at the moment. Always been big breasted but as I’m pregnant again I will most probably go up to a J cup.

It is annoying. Mine are heading south after breastfeeding 3 dc and I can’t go without a bra. It’s really irritating, especially in the summer. Don’t get me started on under-boob sweat!

You should be proud though, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/11/2019 16:38

Sometimes going on the pill can make your breasts increase in size.

Dragonglass · 17/11/2019 16:40

I am a 30FF and they're not that big at all Confused. My only problem is the lack of shops that sell this size, especially cheaper ones.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/11/2019 16:46

You're not being unreasonable, in that there are lots of reasons (men, magazines) why you might feel that way, but you are being too hard on yourself. In reality there are a lot of women who should be wearing bras with a bigger cup size than they are wearing but they've been shamed out of it or convinced by shops that stock a limited size range that boobs only come in sizes up to DD.

Crunched · 17/11/2019 16:52

I love my G cup boobs and breastfeeding 3 didn’t make them sag in any way. I do agree that most Bravissimo bras give a bowling ball shape though. I have asked the staff for a more pointed, bombshell effect with no luck...

ClientListQueen · 17/11/2019 16:54

34K. I was a DD or so age 12 and kept going up until a G age 17 and they didn't stop growing

mencken · 17/11/2019 16:56

female clothing measurements are always random so forget the label. It's done that way so we spend more time shopping, as we are all assumed to enjoy it.

don't worry about the label. Or a physical characteristic. So what?

Snidpan · 17/11/2019 17:00

just say "32H!" and stick your arm up for high fives

Tistheseason17 · 17/11/2019 17:03

Seriously wtf?

Very TIC!!!

AmberAndAlexsMum · 17/11/2019 17:04

50G. Goes without saying that I can only buy expensive armour plated battle bras 😁😁😁😁

Tistheseason17 · 17/11/2019 17:04

BTW - great shop on ebay called Belle Lingerie - usually has loads of sizes and good prices or I wait for sales on Bravissimo etc

OP - YANBU

SexlessBoulderBelly · 17/11/2019 17:11

I’m a 34G, barely squeezing into them as I’m 32 weeks pregnant now. But I’m 5ft tall so I’m massively embarrassed by them also, they are always a talking point which I hate but I try to laugh it off instead of get upset as everyone else is “if you’ve got it flaunt it” “I’d love to have big boobs” - not when their natural, gravity takes it toll and they don’t look nice like they do when their surgically enhanced.

I’d kill for a reduction, NHS has said no 3 times and I just can’t afford to get it done :( I feel for you OP.

Mummyto1crazy1 · 17/11/2019 17:14

I totally get it, I'm a 36GG and hate it, with no bra they near hit my belly button, and so heavy and sore to carry around, once I got used to maternity bras I couldn't adjust back to underwire bras, my little boy is now 2 and I wear sports bras in a size 12 and squeeze into them, it keeps them lifted with comfort and helps for cardio, I am a 12 on the waist but bigger up top.

You are not alone, I don't even clothes shop anymore cause I hate how they fit,

One thing I hope helps tho, u shouldn't feel embarrassed to tell the bride, she obviously loves u to have u in her bridal party so highly doubt she will be judging you, we all have to learn to love the skin we are in but its difficult, and breast size is something we have no control over,

girlwithadragontattoo · 17/11/2019 17:16

I'm a 36HH and they look awful without a bra, but plenty of ladies pay good money to go this big. Bravissimo and Bra stop are really good

Lightinthewindow · 17/11/2019 17:22

I hear you I’m embarrassed by my size I’m 5’5 and I’m a 32HH, hate them

HeyMissyYouSoFine · 17/11/2019 17:36

I know excactly what you mean - and I've often wished for smaller breasts.

I was in agony but couldn't get a breast reduction on the NHS Saw this recently and was nodding along.

Bra stop is good place to look for larger bras.

Waveysnail · 17/11/2019 17:40

It's just a body part. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

isabellerossignol · 17/11/2019 17:59

It's just a body part. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

Unfortunately it's a body part that people think it's fine to comment on, and which is, in our society, intrinsically linked with 'attractiveness'. And despite what people may think, if you're big, the comments from men tend not to be complimentary. But it's the sneering from women that really hurts.

Riv · 17/11/2019 18:06

I feel your pain and it really is a physical as well as mental pain, I know. Red wheals under the boobs, backache, shoulder ache, unable to wear button up shirts or dresses, swimwear and sportswear = nightmare and anything active including fast walking for a bus is agony.
I also get really embarrassed buying any clothes, not just bras. I hate having to dry my bras anywhere that they can be seen. Not to mention the cost of the said undergarments! £40 - £50 each is the norm. And you can't go without even for half an hour before bed, or to go downstairs to make a cuppa before getting dressed, because it's actually really painful.
Then there's the embarrassment of constantly having the boobs ogled, people talking to the boobs (and I'm only 5'1" it's obvious) and the "humorous" (embarrassing, sick, upsetting) comments and encouragement to be "proud" and "grateful" for these unpleasant appendages.
We shouldn't be embarrassed, our boobs are just natural, but Oh... what I'd give to have them removed (but unfortunately the op is more than I can afford - but I'm saving hard).

I just hope, for your sake, that the bride doesn't want you to wear a strapless dress - or even a shoe string strap type. They don't have much support and you can't wear a supportive bra under them. Finding a strapless basque that will be comfortable all day, if you are lucky enough to find one, will cost many times more than the actual bridesmaid dress and you will never wear it again after the event!

im a 44 K/L(sometimes a 46)and have be for years,at my biggest after having son 2 in 2010 i went up to a O which is a impossible size

ive been trained in bra measuring so i do it myself

ive never breast fed or produced milk due to severe PCOS so its all natural boob

without a bra my nipples are to my waist and ive a long torso

im a 22 bottom, roughly just under 16 st but 6ft so not obese but i need a 30 top which are always to big on the shoulders and bottom as my body's not that wide

i wouldnt have them reduced but definitely lifted

i own 1 bra that i got on ebay and thats american

SillyLittleBiscuit · 17/11/2019 18:23

34G here too. I hate them.

I also hate people telling me they’d love big boobs if I mention them. Or worse, telling me how much men/their partners love big boobs. The cost of bras an bikinis, the weight of them, the way they make me look a couple of sizes bigger than i am, the stares and comment .. I hate everything about them.
