Just that.
Although he is being asked the wrong questions.

She had to be somewhat objective and not be seen as a hostile interrogator to be fair. However I do think she could have followed up on her questions better.

That’s true, she was undoubtedly limited in what she could ask as well, by the fact that there are no charges against him. She did well. But a prosecutor will be able to be more thorough.

itsbetterthanabox · 18/11/2019 14:43

Why would you support Andrew if you don't know and no one can know either way if he allegations are true? Why would your conclusion to that be supporting him?

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 14:43

I thought she was formidable. Quiet but deadly. Her face had scepticism written all over it and she gave him plenty of rope to hang himself.

I can’t agree with that. There were definitely follow ups that should have been asked. But again, as we know, the screened interview isn’t the whole thing so perhaps she did.

flowerpowerr · 18/11/2019 14:43

Why are you banging on about paintings and whether it’s possible to move them, when there are photos of Andrew and Epstein surrounded by half a dozen topless girls?

Hang on, what photos? Have they been published?

Sashkin · 18/11/2019 14:43

it is possible that Epstein hid the illegal aspects of his conduct

So PA thought JE went to prison for 4 years for some other, totally legal aspect of his conduct? No.

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 14:44

I think it's about time churchandstate buggered off to go and get a pizza or something. This thread is becoming a vanity project for one's opinions.

Nobody has to converse with me. Your lack of appreciation doesn’t mean I have to go anywhere though.

Alsohuman · 18/11/2019 14:45

To be honest @churchandstate, I’d worry about myself if you agreed with me.

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 14:45

So PA thought JE went to prison for 4 years for some other, totally legal aspect of his conduct? No.

And again, the point get missed. Obviously he knew of the conviction. We know that. The question under discussion here (with regards to the visits over the years and what PA did notice or should have noticed) was whether or not he knew before the conviction.

Sashkin · 18/11/2019 14:47

Hang on, what photos? Have they been published?

Yep, google “Prince Andrew Jeffrey Epstein yacht”. Loads of pictures. The girls look pretty young to me, but the pictures are blurry so honestly could be anything from 13-21.

TheMidasTouch · 18/11/2019 14:52

"He can't remember a lot of things, dates, people, places but clearly remembers being in pizza express on a day many years ago."

If you go back over the transcript of the interview there are NOT lots of things that he can't remember. There are things he says didn't happen.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50449339 Newsnight transcript in full.

To be fair, in the interview, wasn't Virginia Roberts the only person he said he couldn't remember?

He mentioned dates - 10th March then some date in April and, having checked the transcript of the interview, the only date he seemed unsure of was when asked when he last saw Ghislaine, whether it was in the Spring or Summer of this year.

Frankly, he will have been going over and over his diary in light of the accusations since 2015, so I think it acceptable that, once he'd consulted his diary, he remembered the highly unusual Pizza Express visit. Maybe he remembers it because he wasn't going to see his brother, Edward, on his birthday as the PE trip with Beatrice had already been organised?

Looking back at the interview I think EM should have asked him about more about Gislaine considering she had also been acused of being involved with Epstein in procuring young girls. He shold have at least been asked whether she had ever offered or supplied girls or women to provide him with sexual services or even companionship.

Also he should have been asked, not only when he last saw Gislaine but also whether he has any intention of meeting up with her again in the future, whether they are still friends and whether they communicate by other means.

Clavinova · 18/11/2019 14:54

Just like he denied the young girl in the video he let out the door.

This won't help Virginia Robert's case though - the 'young woman at the door' has been identified as Katherine Keating (Australian - daughter of ex PM Paul Keating) - she was aged about 27 at the time - according to Shelagh Fogarty on LBC.

I’ve seen those photos. They’re not evidence of anyone being a paedophile unless there is evidence that those women are children. They’re not evidence of anyone paying for sex unless those women are prostitutes.

Can anyone explain who those women are meant to be?

Clavinova · 18/11/2019 15:04

The Daily Mail have named the girls:

"Smith, the daughter of Lord Colwyn, Nellee Hooper, 37, a Bristol-born record producer, Atomic Kitten singer Jenny Frost and socialite Normandie Keith."

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 15:06

Right, so adult women choosing to sunbathe topless.

TheMidasTouch · 18/11/2019 15:11

@Sashkin

"So PA thought JE went to prison for 4 years for some other, totally legal aspect of his conduct? No."
JE was convicted by a Florida state court of procuring an underage girl for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute. He was convicted of only these two crimes as part of a plea deal. On 30th June 2008 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison and served almost 13 months before being released for a year of probation on house arrest until August 2010.

I'm not sure where you have the 4 years from?

Clavinova · 18/11/2019 15:12

Apologies - Nellee Hooper is a man.

spanglydangly · 18/11/2019 15:24

@churchandstate are you shagging PA? Every single thing you pass off as "so what" , he's a bike odious toad and I'm hopefully in the near future he'll be shown for the pedophile he is and the RF can't hush it up,

The RF are beginning to lose power and the sooner they do the better,

Awful family, with affairs, philandering, suspicious deaths, dangerous driving and now this!

I'm glad I'm not their mother!

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 15:27

spanglydangly

I’m not shagging him. I am bemused at how anybody thinks photographs of a man sitting on a yacht with topless women older than I am now are evidence of paedophilia. The fact that I also think PA is odious is by the by.

spanglydangly · 18/11/2019 15:27

Vile not bike!

spanglydangly · 18/11/2019 15:37

No @churchandstate they don't, but that's just one of the things you've dismissed!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/11/2019 15:38

I have to point out that the two are not mutually exclusive. That said we have no proof that PA is a paedophile. It gets complicated because a man can abuse children and not be a paedophile and a man can date and have sex with a grown woman/man and yet be a paedophile.

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 15:38

spanglydangly

It’s one thing I have dismissed because it’s completely irrelevant. What else have I dismissed?

churchandstate · 18/11/2019 15:40

100%. But these photographs have been positioned as being proof - not even indicative, but proof positive - of wrongdoing by PA. And they are clearly nothing of the sort.

Gin96 · 18/11/2019 15:40

The fact he never apologised for associating with a known convicted sex offender speaks volumes. The British public will not forgive him. He has now shown the whole world that the royal family condone this disgusting behaviour. He has failed as a human being.
