To think this is not good news

My mum has had pains in her side for some time. She has been for xray,MRI and liver scan. The MRI was on her spine.
The MRI results went to her doctor this morning,he rang her and said she has to go in tomorrow and quote " take someone for moral.support" with her.
Am I right to fear the worst?

So Sorry to hear that OP. You says its secondary. Has she had cancer before? If not, where is the primary cancer?

JustDanceAddict · 14/11/2019 12:47

Sorry to hear that. 💐

chillychicken · 14/11/2019 12:49

Sorry to hear that Brownie. Take care of yourself too, it's a lot to take in. xxx

Dobby, the secondary cancer will mean it's a cancer that has started elsewhere and spread. They may not know the primary cause yet, usually it involves further investigation and in some cases, it will always be listed as "primary unknown".

So sorry @Brownie79. Unfortunately I had similar news with my mum just over 8 years ago. Offering you a huge hug, and I hope that your mum will respond to any treatment they offer, and that you are dealing with the news (much easier said than done, I know). Sadly, my mum passed 5 years ago, HOWEVER, we did get 3 years with her following diagnosis, which we used to spend quality time with her, and say the things that often go unsaid. Sending love and best wishes, and Flowers xxx feel free to message me directly, if you want a shoulder

So sorry Flowers

You said secondary- so you mum had cancer somewhere before? What's the outlook for her type of cancer now? Has treatment moved on if it's been a few years?

FenellaVelour · 14/11/2019 13:19

So sorry to hear your news x

beachygirl · 14/11/2019 13:25

My mother had the same diagnosis 4 years ago. It seems to be under control through Tamoxifen and Denusomab, which is a bone treatment. No spread of the disease since diagnosis. I sincerely hope your mother will respond as well to treatment.x
