To think this is not good news

My mum has had pains in her side for some time. She has been for xray,MRI and liver scan. The MRI was on her spine.
The MRI results went to her doctor this morning,he rang her and said she has to go in tomorrow and quote " take someone for moral.support" with her.
Am I right to fear the worst?

You won't quite know untill you hear from the doctor what it is . I don't think it will be an easy problem but theres every chance it will be fixable.

The moral suport is a correct one if shes about to hear some unwelcome news at least your there to take notes and ask questions etc.

I've had this happen twice it wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be but just be there with her:!

I had similar only my dr told me to come in as she needed to discuss and bring my dp for support. I had no way of doing so, and was alone at that point so asked to just be told ‘straight to the point’ over the phone. Knowing me, she accepted that with the plan to see her within a week.

I was told arthritis and some disc issues amongst other things, which explained a lot, and the new course of medication as up to this point I had been treated with very basic instructions of paracetamol and ibuprofen. My mri revealed that more was going on than the sciatica I had been told, and likely long term how it would look for me.

Clearly this is different as she has to go in. But I’m really hoping the dr is going to down a similar route (not that I’d wish this pain on anyone)

Be thinking of you, and her x

I would suspect the worst. This is exactly what I have to do for DHs patients if there’s going to be bad news.
