Sorry for the Meghan Markle thread and DM link, but I have found this really amusing today.

Story out today saying Harry and Meghan apparently aren't spending Xmas with the Queen this year. Lots of comments below blaming Meghan, saying she's isolating Harry from his family, saying the Queen must be really upset. Everyone at work was chatting about it today saying similar.

Am I missing something? I mean we don't even know if it's true. But even if it is, aren't they entitled to spend Xmas as they please? She has her own mother she may want to see.

Ok I get that it's the Queen and it's the usual tradition but is it really a big deal?

The press don't have a vendetta. They don't give a flyin f about anyone, including K and M. Their sole purpose is to sell papers, and the demographic of these types of paper love this.
What's not to.like about getting a bit of tittle tattle and having your prejudices fed and justified at the same time.

I haven't RTFT but what has struck me about this story is that wasn't it their first Christmas engaged she went and Harry gushed about it being a proper family Christmas for her, not like she is used too. I find that slightly weird that now they don't want to be part of that. If it is true.

MissEliza · 15/11/2019 17:51

@nmc99 did he actually say that? I remember something about being 'the family she never had'. That's quite cringeworthy.

Personal attacks are not allowed, the talk guidelines specifically state this

Loosenisous · 15/11/2019 18:12

The talk guidelines are bullshit.

I’ve seen a word used in a post deleted yet passed on another.

It’s utter bias.

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 18:18

Bias towards what loose?

Posters who don’t hate Meghan?

Has Lawrie ever used offensive language? Broken any talk guidelines? Been even remotely rude or unpleasant or personal?
That might explain why she has never been deleted.

Oh dear as I said personal attacks are not allowed

Thanksgiving2019 · 15/11/2019 19:11

I moved to another country to marry dh.
I was desperate to take my first baby «home» to my family for his first Christmas.

She has already given up living close to her mom of course she wants to go back to spend Christmas with her.

Wish people would stop bashing them.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 15/11/2019 19:19

She was living in Canada for years, not LA. I appreciate the UK is much further away but she hasn't been living near her Mum for a long time.

Wow, wonder what I missed there Shock

MissEliza · 15/11/2019 19:38

Thanksgiving2019 I moved countries to many my dh and I felt the same way when I had my first baby. I don't think I could have taken a tiny baby on such a long flight. What a nightmare!

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 15/11/2019 19:41

Encyclo - to be fair I personally do think that Kate Middleton should be praised for wearing THAT suit a second time.

Toronto is currently about a foot under snow for anyone who thinks MM is missing the weather.

SarahNade · 15/11/2019 19:42

@Loosenisous Mumsnet don't read every thread and every post, they only delete posts as they are made aware of them (via people reporting them). They've told me in an email that they can't delete a post unless they've been made aware of it. So....it simply means your posts were reported, and the other ones weren't.

The80sweregreat · 15/11/2019 19:50

To be fair, the flight will have a nanny on board to take away the pain of a long haul with babies! Not knocking her or him and I would too if I had the money! Most people would!

BertrandRussell · 15/11/2019 19:59

Random unrelated fact. When dd was about 6 months old, Nanette Newman helped me with her on a transatlantic flight. She was lovely.

phoenixrosehere · 15/11/2019 20:05

I also moved to the U.K. after I married my husband and I took my first back to see my parents, he was 10 months old at the time. My in-laws had seen him several times so it was only fair we went over and visited. Saying that, it would have probably had been better if he had been younger since he spent most of it trying to walk the aisle, babble to people, and letting out happy squeals during a 7 hour overnight flight that was delayed two hours.

The80sweregreat · 15/11/2019 20:08

Bertrand, wow! She sounds lovely.
Good actress too and so attractive!
That sounds like another thread though! Celeb nannies!

The80sweregreat · 15/11/2019 20:10

I'm not saying Nanette Newman was your nanny by the way!
