Doesn't matter if you think he's a cock, but he'll be remembered for a very long time. You've got to admire his tenacity.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 11/11/2019 15:24

He's a twat. And if you like him you aren't far behind.

MoonbeamsandPolkaDots · 11/11/2019 15:28

Yes, it does seem as if some people think it's enough to shout, 'You're 'orrible you are' at right wing politicans and think that is enough.

However, by refusing to admit that some of those 'orrible people are astute and even comparing them to child murderers-as a couple of silly people on this thread have done-then they leave the way clear for them to forge ahead.

As for the poster who feels sick that Nigel Farage is in her town, she must be very close to the line or else trying to show how sensitive she is by making this, quite frankly, bizarre remark. It matters not, although I'm sure she feels she has done her bit.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 11/11/2019 15:33

He’s an arse.

Cinammoncake · 11/11/2019 15:37

He's been offered a peerage. The man is literally all about himself.

AgeLikeWine · 11/11/2019 15:48

Whatever you think of his policies, Farage is unquestionably the most important British politician since Thatcher.

Brexit is an event of massive historic significance for both the UK and and the European continent. Without Farage, UKIP would never have won the 2014 European election and Cameron would not have felt compelled to include a referendum in the Tory manifesto for the 2025 general election.

An interesting what if : Farage was involved in a plane crash on the day of the 2010 general election. He was very lucky to survive. What if he hadn’t????

AgeLikeWine · 11/11/2019 15:50

I meant “Tory manifesto for the 2015 general election”

MockersthefeMANist · 11/11/2019 15:50

Contested seven parliamentary elections and lost them all.

Elected to European Parliament by going in cuckoo-style and taking over two political parties and putting himself at the top of their nominated lists.

An effective self-publicist and oppositionist.

Philosophically an Onanist.

Passthecherrycoke · 11/11/2019 15:52

The only thing he’s a genius at is identifying dissatisfaction and unrest amongst the electorate, he then copied the right wing parties well established in Europe, we just didn’t have an established politician /
Party at that end of the spectrum like France, Germany, Sweden, Poland etc. Nothing genius about that

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/11/2019 15:58

Number 10 have denied reaching an informal deal with Farage ... In other words, Number 10 have done exactly that

Of course they have, but all the same I'd love to know what he's been promised

As PPs have said, never underestimate what someone's capable of doing just because you happen not to like them ...

Alsohuman · 11/11/2019 16:05

He’s an oxygen thief.

Mamasaurus82 · 11/11/2019 16:09

YABU. Lots of memorable people and historical figures are/ were vile racist dickheads. YES, memorable, but definitely not geniusAngry.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/11/2019 16:13

I reckon he doesn’t have enough candidates for every constituency, so has managed to turn that failure round with this distraction technique. That isn't true. There were Brexit candidates for all constituencies. I heard 3 different pundits confirm that on telly and radio today. They also all pointed out that many of the Brexit candidates themelves had decided not to stand, and Nige, recognising a good thing when he saw it, made it policy.

You have to remember that Brexit candidates are not Britain First, UKIP etc. They are disaffected politicians, many of whom stepped down from other parties when told they had to vote against their electorate.

You may not him, you may be a remainer, but some of those Brexit candidates continue to show more political honesty than many other politicians can muster.

twofingerstoEverything · 11/11/2019 16:14

Boris also got underestimated. I really notice nobody calls him a moron or a buffoon here any more (he is terrifyingly clever)
I'm happy to call him a moron and a buffoon and would not mistake having a privileged education/spouting a bit of Latin with being clever.
Both he and Nigel are puppets. Even Johnson's sister has suggested he is having his strings pulled by people who stand to gain from Brexit (hint: this will not be the general populace).

OhDear2200 · 11/11/2019 16:17

Sorry, nope he is a dick head, wanker, shit, cockroach.

I want to call him a cunt but it CE decided I don’t want him associated with a woman’s anatomy in anyway. To call him a cunt is an insult to the word cunt.

derxa · 11/11/2019 16:18

I know people hate these sort of posts but here goes. Discussing this with DS who's a passionate Remainer. He thinks that NF actually believes in Brexit. He could have stayed in banking or easily been a Tory MP. Just as Corbyn has his iron clad views and sticks to them. I don't like either Farage or Corbyn but quite admire that quality. Boris has no beliefs at all. He's the snake oil salesman.

Snapespeare · 11/11/2019 16:23

He's shown Labour voters in leave constituencies exactly who his friends are. I think it will backfire spectacularly.

twofingerstoEverything · 11/11/2019 16:23

You have to remember that Brexit candidates are not Britain First, UKIP etc. They are disaffected politicians, many of whom stepped down from other parties when told they had to vote against their electorate.

Really? All of them Hmm Grin? Some of them? Do you have a source for this? My understanding is that a few existing Brexit MEPs will stand in the GE and a few wannabe MPs, including someone who moved to the UK last year and whose UK citizenship is 'pending', but I'm totally unaware of the 'disaffected politicians' brigade.

Quartz2208 · 11/11/2019 16:30

I still don’t get it though? What true Labour voter would vote for the Brexit Party now having in effect aligned themselves with the Conservative Party thereby doing a deal with them?

KidLorneRoll · 11/11/2019 16:32

He is a cunt. As is anyone who supports him.

Passthecherrycoke · 11/11/2019 16:33

They’re not standing so they don’t split the conservative/ brexit party vote quartz. That way all potential Brexit party voters vote Tory and they win by a higher margin. It doesn’t effect labour voters, just makes it more likely they lose

TheQueef · 11/11/2019 16:34

The brexit party only need to take a few Labour voters in marginal seats and the conservative party will win.
Sure no Labour voters would vote conservative but I honestly think some Labour voters will vote brexit party.
I hope not but we're one good soundbite away from a Tory majority gov.

Theworldisfullofgs · 11/11/2019 16:37

He will be remembered but not for being a genius.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/11/2019 16:38

No, not all of them, I missed a some / or a not all.

Your understanding may well have some merit, but that is not what the various pundits I heard today said! My understanding is that a few existing Brexit MEPs will stand in the GE Yes, that was the point of the OP, Farage's 'decision' etc.

Laugh away! Politics is a strange beast, remember how hard some people laughed at the thought of UKIP? You may laugh and disregard local politicians aka 'wannabe politicians', but they are the people we vote for, how the hell else do they get started in politics? Weird to be so dismissive!

Especially given the mess all of the parties are in currently! Makes voting for any of them quite dificult. So a local candidate with a single isue might well be attractive to many voters! Brexit, save the hedgehogs, NIMBY, save the planet... any single issue could galvanise enough voters to upset the results!

PortiaCastis · 11/11/2019 16:41

He's a first class prize twat who has brought division and hate to the Country and is certainly not a genius. His class of voters (I'm being polite here) will feel let down that there is not a candidate in every constituency as he promised and that he lied to them so they'll bugger off elsewhere hopefully

Quartz2208 · 11/11/2019 16:41

Yes but he is only not standing in current Conservative seats so those held already but are running in those that aren’t correct

So I still don’t get how it’s a stroke of genius because he isn’t standing in the seats that Tories have and therefore should still get (remain alliance depending) but are standing in marginal seats splitting the Tory vote and presumably making Labour Brexiteers vote Labour rather than the Brexit Party
