Doesn't matter if you think he's a cock, but he'll be remembered for a very long time. You've got to admire his tenacity.

As a remainer, He’s not my cup of tea however, he’s pulled off a master stroke today, it must be said

Roussette · 11/11/2019 14:53

Anyone who thinks Farage is a genius and loves him..... well... maybe I better keep my thoughts to myself on that as I've managed to not get banned in 17 years of being on MN and I'm not gonna get banned now.

He's a piece of shit. End of.

misspiggy19 · 11/11/2019 14:53

He’s a loser who lost every election he stood at

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 11/11/2019 14:54

Ah yes, the political genius that has stood for election to the House of Commons seven times, in five general elections and two by-elections, but has not won any of those elections.

HarryElephante · 11/11/2019 14:54

He's failed to win a seat at 8 consective GEs.

I could manage that.

I'm a political genius.

TheQueef · 11/11/2019 14:56

Well he's just fucked Labour over in a stroke.

They will make him a lord. Lord Farage, purely for being a prick and costing us all billions.
Not a bad days work.

if they give him a fucking peerage before Anne Diamond I will rage

BlindAssassin1 · 11/11/2019 14:57

Thomas Cromwell was probably a political genius. I don't think Farage is even that bright tbh.

Even Hitler, unutterably evil, evil man that he was, was probably brighter and understood what he was doing, he even laid it out in mein kampf.

I always got the impression that there is someone pulling Farage's strings, turns out its Aaron Banks.

HarryElephante · 11/11/2019 14:58

Well he's just fucked Labour over in a stroke

Traditional Labour voters who vote for the Brexit party are laughably stupid.

confusedandemployed · 11/11/2019 14:59

The man is an imbecilic arsehole with the political nous of an aardvark.

However, he is something of a publicity genius. Doesn't mean he knows fuck all about politics.

TheQueef · 11/11/2019 15:02

It isn't old Labour I'm worried about Harry it's the small undercurrents that seem determined to push Momentum.

I know they are supposed remainers but I think they are easily swayed.

EntropyRising · 11/11/2019 15:02

He has campaigned for Brexit and now is behaving in a way that could easily prevent it. I am just being pragmatic as am not keen on the vulgar insults, they say nothing except about the person using them. I dont like the man, am only commenting on his actions

He announced today he's only running candidates against Labour.

SweetSummerchild · 11/11/2019 15:04

Well he's just fucked Labour over in a stroke.

Labour have managed an admirable job of that themselves without any outside help.

TheQueef · 11/11/2019 15:05

Arguably Summer but until this I had hope.

Samcro · 11/11/2019 15:05

he is a wanker

Venger · 11/11/2019 15:07

Number 10 have denied reaching an informal deal with Farage.

In other words, Number 10 have done exactly that.

AlunWynsKnee · 11/11/2019 15:07

He's a conman. A nasty grubby conman.

easyandy101 · 11/11/2019 15:07

How can you only run against labour?

Surely there's a Tory contesting that seat as well?

Or only in safe Labour seats?

That can still dilute the vote for Tories

horse4course · 11/11/2019 15:10

He just does what the Russians tell him to do. They're the geniuses

TheQueef · 11/11/2019 15:11

Contested seats Easy they run to split the Labour voters.
sly weasely twats Angry

Frenchw1fe · 11/11/2019 15:11

Imo he's the modern equivalent of a man on the back of a wagon selling snake oil.
Some people will believe him but hopefully most have more sense.

EntropyRising · 11/11/2019 15:12

Nigel Farage has confirmed that the Brexit Party will not be standing in the seats won by the Conservatives in 2017, in a major boost to Boris Johnson's hopes of winning a majority.

The Brexit Party leader has confirmed that his party will not contest the 317 seats won by Theresa May and will instead focus its efforts on defeating Labour and other Remainer parties.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/11/2019 15:13

He's a conman. A nasty grubby conman.

Totally.

ScreamingLadySutch · 11/11/2019 15:14

"There is no value in underestimating your opponents' abilities."

This.

Boris also got underestimated. I really notice nobody calls him a moron or a buffoon here any more (he is terrifyingly clever)

nibdedibble · 11/11/2019 15:16

Labour's a fucking shambles (and I say that as a Labour voter) and if they can't get it together to defeat a Brexit candidate that says something. They will reap what they have sown. I HATE it but there it is.

The trick is to look forward and see what they want by gaining seats, and I presume that's a coalition with the Tory cunts that are left now that anyone moderate has stood down. If potential voters believe that a) the Tory party will honour anything they are saying at the moment, dream on; and b) a Brexit MP will do good in your constituency, dream on even more - they'd be a stooge, in it for the first five minutes and then off again. Shit won't get done.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 11/11/2019 15:17

He's a very astute and clever man. I've said this consistently since he was leader of Ukip. He's also a great speaker, with a very persuasive turn of phrase and is also very charismatic. He knows how to make stupid people feel intelligent and working class people feel important. He uses rhetoric which is very reminiscent of that used by the conservative party decades ago. From bits I've heard on his radio program he has a suprisingly good grasp of history as well.

Can't stand him, but yes, there's no doubt that he's one of the most influential men in modern politics. He raised the profile of Ukip, kept leaving the European Union to the forefront of conversation, and was a central part of the referendum being a prominent topic that forced the hand of the conservatives to give the referendum (threatened by losing voters to ukip). And here we are with Brexit. So objectively, yes a modern political genius.

People often are not objective about these things. I tend to regard a lot of terrible as well as good world leaders as geniuses. Some nice leaders are mediocre. Some dictators are evil geniuses.

I also think Boris is fairly astute if totally lacking in moral fibre. This is what always made him politically dangerous. It's dangerous to dismiss these people because you don't like them.

It does seem that the Right side of politics is having this rise of talented if awful individuals, whilst the left is severely lacking in major political talent atm.
