Freaked out

I'm not feeling well today, and having trouble sleeping.
Whilst laying in bed thinking, I heard a strange noise downstairs. I thought the cat might have brought home a mouse etc so I pop downstairs and have a look. Can't see anything or any sign of cat. Check the back door and the cat flap is open, all the way, stuck open.
So I shut it, and as I turn out the kitchen light the house phone rang!!!
My goodness it scared me - but because no good calls come at night I answered phone. No one there initially, and then i hear a tv with what sounds like a scary film playing in the background.

I've hung up and put the phone handset and base on mute downstairs.

I'm now upstairs writing this message so I don't feel so alone!!!!

Too scared to get up for a wee now!

I hope you find out who it is. Really horrible of them to be trying to scare you.

Actually just read all 13 pages of this in one go like some kind of mumsnet box set! 😖 Scary stuff! But hopefully it is nothing or just a drunk silly ex xx

You say that your son has just moved to university which means that if this is someone to scare you, they have deliberately waited until you are alone in the house.

Wasn’t there a thread recently which was similar, the OPs son had just moved to uni and she stared getting creepy things happen like phone calls and bells ringing in the middle of the night. The thread ended up getting deleted after the ring go bell was install, I guess because it picked something up and the Police were going for prosecution as far as I remember!

Hopefully your bell picks something up so the police can work on it. Also, it is possible for the police to trace the withheld call. They did it when my mum was getting a lot of prank calls. They can’t give you the number though but it could help then with their investigation I believe

Good morning.

Last night / (this morning) was eventful - things were looking quiet till' 3ish - and then we had activity.

It is my ex - I'm furious (my son is literally beyond furious and has left in an understandable cloud of rage this morning- I'll explain more about their circumstances later)

Anyway, The doorbell picked up motion as I said around 3am (the video is saved on my phone) of a man urinating in the front garden.
My son waited patiently for him to turn around so the camera could get a decent facial image. When he did and my son saw his face he flew outside in anger - they fought ( I use that term loosely, it was more my son grabbing his coat collar and pushing him over)

I didn't call the police because, you should have seen him. Broken is an understatement.

I told him to go away and come back tomorrow (today) sober with a dammed good explanation of his behaviour.

He was sobbing and apologetic- but also steaming drunk.

Oh fucking hell OP I'm glad you know what's going on but what an asshole.

I actually think that's the best outcome in a way, at least you know who it is and can hopefully stop it.

Having had more than my fair share of drunk ex BFs I did wonder if it was a bumbling drunk scaring you by accident rather than a psycho stalker.

Hope you manage to get some resolution today, although if you're dealing with a drunk, who knows where his head is at. Do you think he'll come back today or slink off with his tail between his legs?

It was deleted by MN as the doorbell camera picked something up (from what I remember). There was a neighbour who was having issues with her ex I think. It was all given to the police and I think it turned into an investigation and possible legal action so I think MN had to delete the thread.

Glad you have found out who it was. I would be furious too. You Ex must be in a shit place to be stalking around like this (not that this is a good excuse). I’m guessing you finished the relationship?
