Inspired by the excellent thread on songs.

Mine is Titanic. Billy Zane is marrying Rose knowing he is used as a money mule to help the family - she then cheats on him, flaunts it, and he is somehow the bad guy. WTAF. If roles were reversed it was be horrendous. Just because Leo was hot doesn’t make it ok 😁

She kisses his mate! Is that not cheating? In my book a mouth kiss is something I would not be bloody happy about

Ha ha am far too invested in this now, I actually had to google it...... they kiss!! How did I not remember that bit? Blush

Mothership4two · 06/11/2019 19:58

Sleepers. I hated it because of the horrendous sexual abuse and wanted to walk out, but sat through it because it was advertised as a true story and I thought, God, if they can go through that then I can at least watch it. Afterwards it came out that it was not true at all and I was mightily pissed off.

Didn't like Titanic like other posters. Would have been more interested in the true account rather than the stupid and unbelievable story of Rose and Jack. And when she threw the sapphire into the sea - why?

I have always found the much loved Pretty Woman a bit of a weird concept. It's well done, but man basically buys a sex worker. And a man who pays for sex/prostitutes is attractive because he is rich. Basically Prince Charming story - think the "princess" can look out for herself in this day and age!

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 06/11/2019 19:59

Gladiator was an exciting enough film, but I was irritated all the way through by the stupid historical inaccuracies. Commodus didn't die in a stupid fight in the middle of the Coliseum, the Roman Republic wasn't reinstated after he died, they didn't go to war in chariots, the range on those catapults was far too long, and you wouldn't have had somebody referring to himself as "Maximus". The creepy CGI they used to recreate Oliver Reed was just downright weird too.

I absolutely HATE Dirty Dancing. The main character is called Baby. Need I say more.

Livpool · 06/11/2019 20:07

Any film with Tom Cruise. He makes me cringe - I can't anything with him in

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 06/11/2019 20:08

The real "Private Ryan" was simply pulled out of his unit and sent home. The first 20 minutes of SPR are pretty much as it happened, but after that it turns to crap. One thing they didn't go into, either in SPR or Band of Brothers, was the rate at which US forces murdered prisoners. Even when platoon sized and larger units surrendered to officers, it was a toss up as to whether any of them would make it.

BumbleBeee69 · 06/11/2019 20:10

Four Weddings and a Funeral. He was lucky Duckface just punched him at the altar. Idiot.

Gawd Yes and that American Woman, what a slapper Hmm

Vanilla Sky.. WTF Confused

loathed both these films.

RuffleCrow · 06/11/2019 20:13

I think Mama Mia is in the so bad it's good category for me.

Livingtothefull · 06/11/2019 20:14

'That’s a bit harsh given the posh folk were half filling the boats. Filling the boats would have saved loads more lives'.

That's true Chloe84 but just because some people were cavalier about saving as many lives as possible in the real life situation, doesn't mean it was fine for the film to depict its heroine doing the same and present it as OK. Ironic that 'old Rose' pontificated about those half empty lifeboats whilst reminiscing on her lost love, given that she was a culprit herself. Every lifeboat place wasted = another life lost.

RuffleCrow · 06/11/2019 20:22

I don't think Rose had any power over the lifeboat filling?

Namechangeoflife · 06/11/2019 20:23

Mine is actually titanic too op. It gives me the rage every time when she throws the necklace in the water at the end. Just give it to Brock, it’s been his life’s work looking for it

Blueberrydreams · 06/11/2019 20:24

Didn’t myth busters do an experiment to find out if Jack could have fit on the peice of wood in titanic to find out he could have
Also the poster who mentioned Robin Hood Landing at Dover and walking up to Nottingham in no time in prince of thieves you forget he also paid a visit to Hadrian’s wall in between that was apparently a mile from home!!!

anniemac1 · 06/11/2019 20:25

@PineappleTart.........thank you thank you. I was kicked out of a mothers group when i was the only one to be utterly incredulous that they thought it was a great movie. I laughed so hard and so long that day. IDIOTS

HaloKitties · 06/11/2019 20:28

I don't think the book characters were 2D, I think they were simplified and greatly reduced for the film. All of them lost their key redeeming features imo and if I was JKR I'd've been fuming.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2019 20:29

Aliens- I love Lance Henrikson (who played Bishop the Synthetic) but the little girl Newt got on my very last nerve with her bloody screaming .

Then Ripley leaves Bishop cut in half and rescues Newt (she'd be out the bloody air lock before she could say knife if it was my ship. Gve her reason to scream)

And "Event Horizon" it was mentioned loads of times on MN (and Jason Isaacs & Sean Pertwee , what's not to like? ) That's a couple of hours of my life I won't get back Hmm

TheMonaOgg · 06/11/2019 20:30

Gravity. The Sandra Bullock character was so annoying I sincerely hoped she'd run out of oxygen.

Blueberrydreams · 06/11/2019 20:32

American pie the reunion when stiffler was in the water and shouted “vagina shark”
Basically sexual assaulting the women in the lake and that’s funny somehow

anniemac1 · 06/11/2019 20:33

@TheMonaOgg .....crackin Grommit you really made me laugh.

CaveMum · 06/11/2019 20:33

The main thing that bugs me about Home Alone 1&2 is WTF does Mr McCallister do as a job to earn enough money to own a house that big and be able to fly his extended family to Florida for one Christmas and Paris the next?!

Got to be a big-time drugs baron.

Blueberrydreams · 06/11/2019 20:36

And yep the older American pie films have not aged well either
Jim filming Nadia so his mates could watch which ending up the whole school watching and many more things as well

HaloKitties · 06/11/2019 20:36

Any Manic Pixie Dream Girl type films where the girls are super quirky and reduced to their whimsical stereotype e.g. 500 Days of Summer, Departures (on Netflix), any of the girl-comes-into-their-life-and-completely-changes-them ones.

Paddington68 · 06/11/2019 20:38

Forrest Gump - I really don't understand why people like it.

Chesntoots · 06/11/2019 20:40

It's already been said, but Robin Hood and his amazing 2 hour trip from white cliffs of Diver to Sherwood an about half an hour...

Come to think of it, any film which involves horses whinnying and cantering about all over the country for hours on end. Fuck me, those things should be in the derby if they can go like that. Horsey rant over.

ThatMuppetShow · 06/11/2019 20:42

If you focus on accuracy in any movie you will have a nervous breakdown.

Re: Titanic
I think the real piece of wreckage that was copied for the movie is much smaller than the movie version, and Jack wouldn't have fitted on it. Or something.
