Dear mums! Is anyone else letting their child use this new application called TikTok? Apparently, children (and adults) post 15 second videos of anything which can be viewed by anyone. However, usually it involves some kind of dancing or lip singing or Meme. Then people can like your videos and follow your account. What age do you think is appropriate to allow your child to download this and do you think it is safe?

Most of my DDs friends have it age 8/9/10. Parents clearly not check8 g in many cases. Tons of videos of teens in very little clothing or primary age children dancing in skimpy PJ in their bedrooms...

I hate it. Grown women on Facebook dancing around to it. I find it cringey

Its peadoville. Don't touch it. They even tried to ban it in india, I believe.

Why would you take SSRIs at a rave? you must have been to some proper miserable ones

@DelphicOracle at the top of her home page tap to change it from 'following' to 'for you' and see what pops up then!! you are being massively naive and you obviously dont understand how the app works and she has been having you on that she can only see things she follows....when you've done this try scrolling down 10 or 20 vids...you will def see somthing inapprproate for an 11 year old...literally any content from the whole of tiktok appears!

My 13yo DD has had it for a year but is mainly into quirky creative stuff and tends to post similar videos.

But I was shocked when she showed me videos of some of the girls in her year group - they were wriggling around like 20yo lingerie models and it has influenced some of her previously innocent friends into thinking that's what you're meant to do to be popular.

It's morphing into something very different to what it started out as and I would be extremely wary of letting an impressionable young teenage girl have access to it now.

If their account is private which it should be no strangers can message them or see their videos, I check my daughters and she is only being followed/following people she knows in real life.
