...By asking my DH to sniff the sanitary pads?

He didn't sniff them, and came home with fucking scented ones.

I despise them, they stink like someone's sprayed febreeze in a butchers when you're wearing them. Also, they give me thrush.

I asked him to get me some from the shop, he was in there, specified that they needed to be non scented. Asked him to give the packet a quick sniff in the shop. He refused. I wasn't asking him to hold them to his face and inhale deeply, literally just a quick waft past his face.

I think he's being a massive fanny, he thinks I'm unreasonable and it would have been weird.

Who is being unreasonable?

(Iwouldn't mind but he didn't even read them, it literally says *these contain a perfumed "fresh" scent which will make your vulva sore after wearing them. Or words to that effect anyway.)

Spray all his pant gussets with febreeze. It's only fair after all.

ColaFreezePop · 04/11/2019 12:04

YABU to ask him to sniff them.

However he is being completely unreasonable and a prized a-hole in not using the skills he developed as a 5/6 year old by not reading the bloody packaging.

Whattodoabout · 04/11/2019 12:04

I kind of agree with him, it would be weird as fuck for a man to stand sniffing sanitary towel packs in a shop and I wouldn’t expect anyone to do this for me Confused.

Buy (and sniff) your own pads.

Venger · 04/11/2019 12:05

I think he'd have gotten a few funny looks standing there sniffing the pads so I can't really blame him for not wanting to but he could have rang you while he was looking at them to check which ones you wanted or you could have sent him a screenshot of which ones.

TheQueef · 04/11/2019 12:06

Can't be read?

Whitleyboy · 04/11/2019 12:06

It was unreasonable of you to ask him to smell them. However, it would not have been unreasonable to ask him to read the packet to ensure they weren't scented.

YABU to word the thread title to give the wrong impression to readers...and don't protest....I won't believe you didn't do it on purpose.

TheQueef · 04/11/2019 12:06

He* not be

I usually do. It was a surprise bonus round period which shouldn't have been due for another ten days.

I was literally on the phone, on FaceTime saying to him to just sniff them/read the packaging. He was flapping.

Can't be read?
He is dyslexic. But can read for the most part.

Don't know what you mean, Guv.

I should have put in the OP. This is light-hearted, I know I was probably being a bit unreasonable, won't say that to him though Grin

If it makes him feel uncomfortable then you can’t force him.

Let’s be honest, a man sniffing packs of sanitary products in boots would look bizarre to most people. I don’t blame him for not wanting to put himself in a strange position

Lhastingsmua · 04/11/2019 12:18

I mean, I don’t even sniff them!

ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere · 04/11/2019 12:19

GrinGrin I'll have to rinse out a steak on them too though, to get the full smell effect

If he can read yabu. Ask him to read the packet and make sure they aren't scented, not sniff them like a pervert.

dementedpixie · 04/11/2019 12:21

Just don't buy Always ones. Most bodyform are unscented as are most own make brands. Always Sensitive (pink pack) are unscented too

dementedpixie · 04/11/2019 12:22

I have been known to sniff them with a disgusted look on my face. I also sniff fabric softener. Shopping takes ages these days Grin

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 04/11/2019 12:31

Withdraw your favours for a fortnight.

Tell him it's because your fanny is sore with being trapped in industrial-strength cheap perfume for a week.

He will learn to read, just in case there's a next time.

ellendegeneres · 04/11/2019 12:35

My dp will smell them 😂😂 he knows if I get the smelly ones I get thrush and become unbearable so he’s worked out which he’d prefer. Obviously I get them when I shop but if I run out, he’d never complain. Well, he called me from Sainsbury’s once saying he looked like a complete arse and next time could I send a pic of the acceptable packs 😂😂

BykerBykerOoh · 04/11/2019 12:35

If he’s a massive fanny maybe he can use them himself before December.

melj1213 · 04/11/2019 12:37

If you were on facetime could he have not shown you which ones the shop had and have you choose? I work in a supermarket and I know that some guys get flustered if they are sent to buy sanitary products because they feel embarrassed if they are in the aisle, examining products for too long and sometimes are just overwhelmed by the sheer volume and just grab the first thing they see because they dont know the difference.

If I ever sent Ex out to buy sanitary products I would give him a specific brand to pick up, show him the box of the products I usually use before he left (or text him a picture if he was out) and give him a list of preferred alternatives.

Mumofone1962 · 04/11/2019 12:37

Might have been easier to just show him a picture of the pack you like. My husband once came back with incontinence pads Hmm

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/11/2019 12:39

Unstoppables, OP. Wash all his clothes with a mega dose. He will smell heavily fragranced to anyone within 10 ft and it will last for AGES.

slashlover · 04/11/2019 12:40

Withdraw your favours for a fortnight.

YABU for calling sex "favours"?

Gruzinkerbell1 · 04/11/2019 12:41

YANBU. I can’t bear the scented ones either. I tend to go for Tesco’s own, cheap and cheerful now.

MorganKitten · 04/11/2019 12:42

Who sniffs them? Also have a spare packet in the house just in case. If he’s not comfortable buying them do it yourself.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/11/2019 12:44

Why does he need to sniff them though, can't he read? They do say 'unscented'- or just ask him to buy a brand/type you know is unscentedConfused.

If he separately finds sanitary products generally embarrassing obviously he needs to grow up and get over himself.

Howzaboutye · 04/11/2019 12:44

Yep same problem here. No point buying them if scented. But only way to find out is squeezing the packet!

Always panty liners are now scented and NOT labelled as such. Really annoying
