When my boyfriends dd who is five acts up, her mum texts my bf saying the dd is ‘being a twat’. Aibu to find this so very inappropriate? It’s just awful.

I have called mine and other kids little shits behind their backs obviously . As long as she is not saying it to their faces not a big deal. Better to let off steam in a text than to the kids themselves.

Well I must be a shit parent too. Often text dp saying one of kids is an idiot acting like a moron, or even criticising the great unwashed(my almost teenager I have to force into the shower) because he smells like a tramp. I would never say it to my kids in this manner. I may say your acting daft or you need a shower the dogs been licking you. If it was said to the child it's out of line but to the other parent then I see no issue. His probably thought it at times too. Frankly if he has an issue with it that's his business to sort out.

My 4 year old has been a prize dickhead all day. I don't tell hiim that though.

God, I've called my teenagers a lot worse over the years - just not to their faces. I don't think it does any harm to let off steam to enable you to deal with the kids calmly. Plus I'm sure my kids have called me a lot worse by now!

Kids can be all manner of things twats,shits,arseholes etc. Complaining to another adult about it is fairly normal ,especially when that adult is the other parent.

Entirely different if she calls the kid that to her face.

When I was teaching I told a parent how beautifully her child had behaved that day. She said how nice it was to hear that, said we'll done to the child, took her hand and said " Come on then, you little cunt" and went off home.
