To pretend to be pregnant?

I have a dress that I haven't worn in ages, I just tried it on and it's less than flattering 🙈.

Would I be Unreasonable to wear it anyway and just occasionally rub my tummy so that people think I am pregnant and not just fat?

@pastabest

Exactly what I was gunna say except this was me pre diagnosis!!

Have you been checked for coeliacs op? You mention scans and stuff but this is a tube up yer arse. And unfortunately it’s not just about being gluten free it’s about cross contamination and no ‘occasional bread’ because it causes horrific autoimmune side effects (which get worse as your gut heals funnily enough) and a massive cancer risk!

Anyway blah blah blah sorry to bum you out. Probs burn the dress though bless ya. I used to have people asking about my ‘pregnancy’ all the time, there’s only so many times you can laugh along...

Grandmi · 02/11/2019 00:41

Please don’t be offended ,but your belly is very bloated..contact GP Asap!!

AwkwardFucker · 02/11/2019 00:49

This could be my belly Blush

I’ve put on a lot of weight in the last 5 years, unfortunately all in my belly and face! I’m totally curvy in all the wrong places! I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been asked when I’m due.

I do have fibroids though.

Don’t wear the dress. I wear oversized hoodies everywhere. Blush

OP my stomach goes like this by the end of the day. It is IBS.

I suffer terribly with bloating and trapped wind. I can eat one small thing and my stomach looks 9 months pregnant.

I don't have cancer thank goodness, but obviously any new bloating like this needs checking out, but you have had all that done.

I have also been tested for coeliacs and all came back clear.

U2HasTheEdge · 02/11/2019 01:03

Out of 4 family members only 2 were diagnosed by blood test

That's interesting. I only had the blood tests which were fine, so my GP ruled the possibility of it out completely.

I get sick of the pain and huge stomach, it has been going on for as long as I can remember, but GPs dont really seem to care.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/11/2019 06:40

I get that the OP was lightheaded but regarding FODMAP, it's not a diet in the sense of 'lose weight', it's a way of eating that removes a type of fermented carbs (the longer version of this makes up the term FODMAP) that are linked with IBS.

It really needs to be done under the guidance of a qualified dietician.

It wouldn't be enough to have a bloated / large tummy. It's related to the other symptoms of IBS, so if you don't have those, it's not relevant.

OP you keep mentioning being overweight but in your photos you are slim but with a big tummy. Yes, people can carry their weight on their stomachs but it's very unusual to have no additional weight elsewhere, and such a pronounced tummy. If you've weight in that area, it's more spread out & flabby.

I'm not scare-mongering but really would encourage you to get to the bottom of this. I'd revisit your GP for at least another discussion as there are so many serious conditions that this could be a symptom of.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/11/2019 06:41

🤦🏻‍♀️ lighthearted! Not lightheaded!

Fuckenstein · 02/11/2019 06:49

@Knewmee it's from amazon.

I gave spoken to the GP, it was connected at the time to irregular bleeding, pain in the abdomen, bloating and excessive wind, feeling tired a lot.

I had several blood tests although I don't remember what they all were, an abdominal scan, a vaginal scan and several swabs. The diagnosis such as it was, is a small cyst on the right ovary, hormonal bleeding and "probably a bit of IBS"
I had already suspected lactose intolerance and confirmed myself with the milk/blood sugar test but yo be honest GP was more interested on ruling out cancer and then lost interest.

Oh @Fuckenstein please take it further? If not with GP (if you think they've lost interest) but with a qualified dietician or seek a referral to an OBGYN consultant?

You really deserve to get this sorted.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/11/2019 07:00

The diagnosis such as it was, is a small cyst on the right ovary, hormonal bleeding and "probably a bit of IBS"

This all needs dealing with, properly.

What does 'hormonal' bleeding even mean? It should mean regular periods but clearly it doesn't. That's not something you should put up with & really does have serious implications. I know cancer is ruled out (thankfully) but I'd honestly be worried about the potential for it to develop in the future.

Please see a gynae consultant.

dontgobaconmyheart · 02/11/2019 07:06

Is this not uncomfortable OP? Pretending to be pregnant isn't appropriate for a variety of reasons but tbh I'd be more interested in the bloating. I'm coeliac and have various (verified) intolerances to boot and my stomach looks like that if I consume them (accidentally or through greed). It's bloody painful!

I'd ask to see a dietitian asap or start on some buscopan or simethicone. Probiotics also. Try a proper exclusion diet if you suspect you are lactose intolerant.

Bin off the dress.

fantasmasgoria1 · 02/11/2019 07:11

I get very bloated especially as the day wears on. I also get very constipated due to my various medications which makes it worse. I just adapt what I'm wearing when it gets bad.

BigFatLiar · 02/11/2019 08:23

Don't start rubbing the bump.

We've already got blackface and womanface you'd be starting pregnancyface! Grin

Shock!!!

pastabest · 02/11/2019 08:43

U2HasTheEdge

Coeliac blood testing is like pregnancy testing. You don't generally get false positives, if it shows up on a blood test you probably have it, but you can get a false negative.

It usually happens when people have already figured out that gluten is making them ill and limit/cut it out before going to the GP. Lots of GPs don't know enough about Coeliac to check patients have done the gluten challenge before a blood test.

Even then though 1 out of the 4 in my family was definitely still eating gluten right up until the blood test and still got a negative. It was only because we were very familiar with coeliac as a family by then that we insisted on further tests such as endoscopy which confirmed it.

I've got 5 children and I'm a month pregnant with my 6th. I've looked like you since I had number 4 and in between pregnancies I still pretended I was pregnant on trains/buses/busy waiting rooms/etc in the hope of being offered a seat! (I always gave it up for someone more in need though.) Go for it! If you've got it, flaunt it 🤣
