To pretend to be pregnant?

I have a dress that I haven't worn in ages, I just tried it on and it's less than flattering 🙈.

Would I be Unreasonable to wear it anyway and just occasionally rub my tummy so that people think I am pregnant and not just fat?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat the OP did it for a bit of a laugh, I’m not going to start telling posters off because some of them were a bit rude.

footballmum · 01/11/2019 21:57

A friend of mine looked like that every evening. She was very petite but looked 6 months pregnant by 8pm. Turned out she has coeliac disease. It’s more than just an intolerance to gluten, it’s an autoimmune disease which, if left untreated, can lead to serious health problems. I know you started this as a lighthearted thread OP but please have some more investigations and rule out anything serious.

In the meantime, and in the sprit if the thread, I’m pretty sure Gin has no dietary irritants in it!!

SunshineCake · 01/11/2019 22:12

I would check for food intolerances and don't pretend you are pregnant. That's silly. You won't produce a baby and would have to lie about a miscarriage.

BTW I put weight in and looked heavily pregnant. Within months of stopping eating the food my body didn't like I was 1.5 stone lighter and now a year later I'm in my size 12 jeans and two stone lighter.

OP google Anti inflammatory recipes and try to eat those for a while. That really helps me on my bloating I am similar to you but no known allergies etc. Its easier to do anti inflammatory than food map and lots of it is nice

Fuckenstein · 01/11/2019 22:28

Hi belly twin. Join us theres a whike gang.

I will research those recipes thanks, my aim is try lactalase first - least effort, if that doesn't work I will try the anti inflammatory recipes, slightly more effort and then last resort will be fodmap because it sounds almost impossible.

I think the OP was joking, Sunshine!

Andysbestadventure · 01/11/2019 22:31

100% a wheat/gluten belly if you're not pregnant. I'm not coeliac but I can't eat gluten as it does just that to me!

ExhaustedGrinch · 01/11/2019 22:46

Another bloater here ... does this mean I've finally found 'my tribe'? Wink

I'm off to the Drs about my gut on Monday because I've been having IBS symptoms for over a year now and bit worried it may be something a bit more than just IBS! I hate having a big bloaty belly and skinny little legs, makes me feel like a spider. Grin

AnotherEmma · 01/11/2019 22:46

I don't think lactose intolerance would cause such extreme bloating without other symptoms? I'm not an expert though.

Based on the responses here it sounds as if coeliac could be likely so why not just cut out gluten for a few weeks and see if it helps? I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard (not compared to a fodmap diet anyway) as so many things seem to be gluten free nowadays.

I believe best practice for diagnosing food intolerances is elimination and reintroduction, but only one food type at a time, otherwise you won't know which one it is.

LEELULUMPKIN · 01/11/2019 22:50

Nowt wrong with your shape OP, but the dress is hideous and does you no favours whatsoever. Sorry.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 01/11/2019 22:52

If you are knocking back wine and saying your pregnant, of course your get judge looks. I mean who what kind of mother is knocking back the wine, answer a pretty crap one!

Buy Holding me in pants?? Or a more flattering dress........

Sunflower20 · 01/11/2019 22:55

I am exactly the same post dinner, been like this for years. And I'm 1000% not pregnant. Brilliant plan OP!

kateandme · 01/11/2019 22:56

Foodmop diet is shit.if it doesn't bother u don't go there.yet another realistically unbalanced and hard to follow diet plan unless you having real pain and need to make some changes to live it's often advised to use a dietitian with it because it can be so restrictive if you can just have a balanced diet do so

nononever · 01/11/2019 23:03

I'm the same with bloat after eating. I'm not coeliac as I was tested for that last year. It's definitely food related with me as for some reason I'm never bloated when we go abroad and I'm eating an entirely different diet. Could be carbs with me, I eat a lot of baked potatoes and potatoes in general.

Fuckenstein · 01/11/2019 23:05

@ExhaustedGrinch a spider! Even better, I will pretend to be a spider.

I can imagine coming in to a thread about myself if I continued wuth the original plan so definitely wont so that one.

Gluten free I could probably do. There are a whole tribe of us now though, I don't mind having the occasional food baby.

@AnneTwackie I make that noise sitting down and I'm not pregnant! ShockGrin

RLOU30 · 01/11/2019 23:09

Literally thought that was my room! I have that bed and exact bedding

Fuckenstein · 01/11/2019 23:11

@RLOU30, you clearly have excellent taste. Comfiest bed ever and my duvet is amazing. Most money I have even spend on a duvet but it's 80%down and I love it!

SunnyCoco · 01/11/2019 23:29

Yes I reckon wheat ) gluten intolerance , or coeliac disease

Hope you have a lovely night out regardless of what you choose to wear :)

Oscar2013 · 01/11/2019 23:45

Personal question hun, do you bloat after eating? Suffer with bowel movements of any kind. Feel lethargic? Get any pain or discomfort in your abdomen. I'm only asking because your belly does look like a bump it sounds like you get the same as I do. Mine is even more noticeable after having my son as my stomach had stretched further into a full real pregnancy bump. But in the morning as your is empty it is flatter. But through out the day due to drinking, eating, swallowing air through talking, chewing, drinking, breathing it will inflate like a balloon. The only relief is to sorry for the tmi but expel the gas... fart, burp and have a good old shite. Dont be ashamed though, you dont have to pretend to be pregnant either. It's no ones business to judge and your body is yours to love. You have a cute tummy. I call mine food baby after meals, Gas bag and planet fart ha xx

Knewmee · 01/11/2019 23:50

I love your duvet cover! (Or is it a throw?)
Having spent the afternoon lurking in John lewis’ bedding department, looking at duvet covers that I can’t afford, I’m a bit obsessed with them right now. Can I ask where it was from?

holidayhelpp · 01/11/2019 23:59

YOU HAVE MY BODY!! 😂

Always had a belly, even when barely 8 stone wet. It’s just where I carry my fat. I now weigh a lot more Grin but I am not obese, yet could easily pass for 6 months gone. Hey ho. Hard for those without this body type to understand, clearly, going off these comments 😂

Bluerussian · 02/11/2019 00:02

No! Find another dress that doesn't accentuate your.... er.... assets.
