Could he win it? He is very popular and a different character to Corbyn. I think he would appeal to a lot of the electorate who are left leaning but unkeen on JC.

No, Callaghan never won an election. He took over the government from Wilson, who won in 1974 - 45 years ago.

Had been thinking the same for a while. As much as it pains me to say, I don’t think Labour are every going to have success with JC now.

@CendrillonSings I stand corrected!

He stands a better chance of being PM than Corbyn I guess? I wouldn't vote for him though. I wouldn't vote Labour this time round - no matter who was driving the ship.

It distresses me greatly that labour don't have a chance in hell of getting in. Not RTFT but has anyone mentioned David Lammy? He'd make a phenomenal PM.

saltandvinegararethebest · 02/11/2019 21:16

@Snoop I think gen public are divided on Lammy. Very popular with his constituents, isn't he?

I used to really like DL, if for no other reason than that a working class lad who gets that far certainly has ability. Unfortunately he seems to spout an awful lot of attention seeking, woke bollocks. He has said some damn silly things and seems far too invested in identity politics. Shrill, abusive rhetoric about opponents, of the type he uses, is ruining politics.

I much prefer John McDonnell

Iamnotagoddess · 07/11/2019 21:17

Have been saying this for months!

The only good thing that will come out of the upcoming GE is that when if Labour lose JC will have to stand down.
