I just wanna see trumpton himself cross-examined mercilessly....when do we get to actually see trumpton mercilessly cross-examined??😲😲😲

AcrossthePond55 · 09/11/2019 00:22

I'd assume never, Rhino. Constitutionally, you can't make an 'accused' take the stand if they don't want to. I assume that extends to House Impeachment Hearings as well as Senate Trial to Remove. IMHO there's no way Scrotus will ever take the stand, even if the Senate votes to call witnesses. His modus operandi has been to have his attorneys place blame as he runs away and hides.

Clinton never testified during his impeachment hearings nor during the Senate trial. In fact, there was no public testimony during the trial and there were only 3 people deposed. Clinton did testify before a Grand Jury during the Starr Investigation (pre-impeachment) and that testimony was considered in the House and Senate proceedings.

Thanks Across, I was hoping that would be the case.

RhinoskinhaveI · 09/11/2019 10:59

We can at least be confident surely that he will very effectively make himself a laughing stock with his proclamations 'I don't even know these people, I've never seen them before' 'I'm a very stable genius' 😄
He's going to be booo'd and ridiculed from here to eternity 😄

Hmm Trump says he's 'thinking about' attending Russia's May Day parade The president said Putin invited him to the country's military parade: 'I would love to go if I could' www.independent.co.uk/news/trump-russia-may-day-parade-2020-putin-press-conference-a9195591.html?amp
Roussette · 10/11/2019 08:10

A Putin official has said he has issued no such invitation.

Hmm

No idea if this is true or not

Lweji · 10/11/2019 13:13

It looks like he would really love to go if he could (i.e. was invited, although more realistically if he's still in office ).

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/nov/10/watergate-ukraine-trump-impeachment-hearings

'We are beginning these hearings today in an atmosphere of the utmost gravity … a mood of incredulity has prevailed among our populace, and it is the constitutional duty of this committee to act expeditiously to allay the fears being expressed by the citizenry, and to establish the factual bases upon which these fears have been founded.”

Those were the words of Sam Ervin of North Carolina at the Senate select committee on presidential campaign activities on 17 May 1973: the first day of its hearings into the Watergate scandal. They were a national TV blockbuster, beamed into millions of homes in the days before media fragmentation, internet echo chambers and alternative facts.

This week, House Democrats will hope to recreate that sense of occasion when they begin public impeachment hearings regarding Donald Trump and his attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals. Televised hearings will “be an opportunity for the American people to evaluate the witnesses for themselves”, Adam Schiff, chairman of the House intelligence committee, has said.'

'A baby Trump protest balloon was stabbed and deflated by a man thought to be a supporter of the president during his visit to Alabama.

The man ran at the inflatable and cut a 2-metre gash in its back, said Jim Garvin, an organiser for the protest movement.

Hoyt Deau Hutchinson has been charged with criminal mischief, Tuscaloosa Police Department said.'

Good news.

'A federal judge in Alaska has declared that President Trump’s order revoking a sweeping ban on oil and gas drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans is illegal, putting 128 million acres of federal waters off limits to energy exploration.'

On behalf of my fellow Americans who like me would never in a zillion years vote for that orange horror, I do apologize for his presence on this planet, and am very embarrassed to also share a smidgen of Scottish blood with him.

Ew.

He and most of the current Republicans are equally corrupt and I am hoping for a clean sweep of impeachments to include him, Pence, and Barr, and am seriously looking forward to President Pelosi.
