I'm having trouble too, Across, and haven't really got beyond the 'green light' part.

Did they know what would happen to Khashoggi? Did they care?

What went through their heads, what went through Kushner's head when the reports about the torture and death started to emerge?

That's even before you get to the other points you made.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/11/2019 19:45

IMO lion, one can 'know' and one can 'know'. As in knowing what will happen because you have specifically been told what will happen and knowing what will most likely happen because you know the background/history of a situation. In this case I expect it's not likely that they said "...and then we will kill him" to Kushner but it is likely that Kushner would have known enough about the situation to know that Khashoggi was in grave danger, iyswim. Either way, Kushner carries responsibility for his death.

And no, IMHO, they didn't care. No one matters to them but themselves. Trump, Kushner, the whole bloody lot. No one matters if they are in the way of their objective.

What went through Kushner's head?
Something along the lines of Ono this makes us look bad, how can we spin it so that we don't look bad
Then again perhaps he felt a little pleased, after all dismemberment is quite a big story isn't it and they do like the big headline

cozietoesie · 04/11/2019 22:20

I doubt he actually thinks.

How Booing Trump Corrects Media Bias
It's rare is to see that most common thing: regular people who hate the president.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/11/2019 16:39

Maybe the answer is for every person who sees him anywhere and despises him to shout "Booooooo!" as loudly as they can and for as long as they can. I don't think you can be arrested for shouting "boo", can you?

That would at least help to dispel the myth that he is liked or respected by a majority.

AcrossthePond55 · 05/11/2019 18:29

I have a feeling that booing already happens during motorcades and such, Asking. The thing is that he's normally only exposed to carefully 'curated' crowds, like at his rallies, etc. I'm sure his minions didn't expect booing at the WS nor at the UFC match.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing him at any public sports events in the future. And I expect the crowd at the WH Xmas Tree lighting will be very, very heavily curated.
