Fox take on Sondland’s testimony. (This is the quite inaccurate headline.)

‘Sondland implicates top officials on Ukraine, but says he ‘never heard’ quid pro quo from Trump’

And here we go again.... today's impeachment hearings

Dr. Hill National Security Council, WH's top expert on Russia
David Holmes, counselor for Political Affairs at US Embassy Ukraine

Roussette · 21/11/2019 15:12

I was not expecting that! Dr Fiona Hill, born in the North East of England with a wonderful northern accent !

Even as we work to hold President Trump accountable for his abuse of power, we can't forget the Ukrainians - "scrappy, unbowed, and determined."

They are our friends, and a front-line democracy that deserves our solidarity & support against Russia's invasion. #DefendOurDemocracy

You could really feel David Holmes' love for the Ukrainian people, couldn't you? And that he really hated the deception and dishonesty being perpetrated on them by the Scrotus Regime. I felt it was 'personal' to him.

I felt with Dr Hill it was more about a Govt sticking to its principals and moral code. Not that she isn't on the side of Ukraine, but I just felt that she felt most strongly about the violation of 'the code of conduct' and the duplicity.

On a break now. It'll be interesting to see how Dr Hill handles Nunes and Jordan.

'How tough is Fiona Hill? When she was 11, a boy in her class set her pigtail on fire while she was taking a test. She put out the fire with her hands and finished the test. My profile of today's star impeachment witness:'

Well.... Jim Jordan lost his shit totally, what an arse he is.

Nobody could accuse Dr. Hill of being a 'never trumper'. She is professionalism personified.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/11/2019 20:38

Yes, well, Jordan.

The GOP members don't seem very sharp or 'on it' today, do they? Not a lot of pointed questions and loud rhetoric, just sort of mumbling and bumbling. Seems as if they may have learnt something not to their advantage and don't know what do to with it, doesn't it?

I also saw a flash that Bibi N has (or is going to be) indicted for fraud, bribery, and breach of trust. Maybe it's rattled the GOP to know that another egotistical 'I'm above the law' Head of State is actually going to be called to account for his misdeeds.

Waiting for Scrotus tweet that he 'really doesn't know Bibi very well, only met a couple of times'.

You cynic, Across.

Lweji · 21/11/2019 22:13

David Nunes is certainly curbing his enthusiasm.

Roussette · 21/11/2019 22:24

Netanyahu is bleating about deep state, the police and intelligence out to get him, he refuses to resign, and says he will carry on leading the country. He calls it a 'coup'. Says it's all false...

Where have we heard all this before...

lionheart · 21/11/2019 22:39

A 'witch-hunt' was mentioned I believe.

TheClaws · 21/11/2019 23:48

This sums up how I’ve been feeling. The GOP defenders are like rodeo clowns.

Maybe it's just because I'm sick today, but I find it gut-wrenching to see an entire party make clear that there is no level of corruption and criminality by their leader that they will ever oppose. They exist only to hold power, even if they must destroy the republic to keep it.

Another book for the xmas list perhaps. Smile

Mossad are known to be independently minded, Roussette.

Roussette · 22/11/2019 07:44

I will admit to being a bit in love with Dr. Fiona Hill. If I could have just 10% of her knowledge and intelligence, I'd be doing alright.

I think this sums up her testimony...

While being questioned by the ranking Republican member on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, Hill stated her disapproval of Ambassador Sondland's involvement in the Ukraine matter: "Because he was being involved in a domestic political errand, and we were being involved in national security foreign policy. And those two things had just diverged.

Roussette · 22/11/2019 07:54

And here she is explaining it in no uncertain terms...

twitter.com/voxdotcom/status/1197632536769368064

Worth watching because it sums up her hours and hours of testimony.

lionheart · 22/11/2019 08:19

Yes, she was impressive. Not one to suffer fools gladly.

Lweji · 22/11/2019 09:23

"That almighty crash you heard coming from the direction of the United States was the implosion of President Donald Trump's impeachment defense."

amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/11/21/world/meanwhile-in-america-november-21/index.html

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/11/2019 11:17

And what happened yesterday? Trump, and all his henchmen, claimed that Sondland exonerated him, and pretended that Sondland said the exact opposite of what he did. How will they twist what Hill said so that it can be claimed to exonerate Trump?

PerkingFaintly · 22/11/2019 11:39

They just won't address what Hill said. Why amplify her words, when they can fill the airtime with their own made-up version?

Well, except Trumpa-baby, who just can't help spilling out the thing that's most on his mind: "There's nothing hidden in the cupboard under the stairs", "Nana, I didn't eat any of the chocolate cake!"
